  5. Look for another one, u don't wanna buy lemon and start on wrong foot. Engine mount broken tells an offroad use or very rough road usage tbh. Same for engine oil leak can point in 10 other directions, if it was minor he would have fixed it before selling it, this alone could be huge deal breaker.
  6. Yes, if the crank area is dry and the oil pan area is wet, if cud be the pan gasket, which might have hit hard on the dune while crossing. That's a lot easier and cheaper fix.
  7. That's the only thing we cant recommend here, but you can quickly google various options and read the Google reviews to find competent places.
  8. Look for Vanessa in shiny blue Xterra and Davie in bright red wrangler at meeting point.
  9. Setup done, almost there, max we could do with gushing wind
  10. With 7 seat requirement, Pajero is indeed well suited for age, cost, resale and performance. A price drop in summer might be 5-10% not a big dip, but it also opens a floor for a lot more choices for road-driven vehicles. However, if it was for Xterra, it's worth the wait to really find road-driven Xterra (as they are getting rare now), but that's not the case with Pajero and you may find clean road-driven Pajero very easily at any time. Just make sure to stay away from Pajero models that have upshifting issues as that will make your offroading experience more challenging. Maybe @GauravSoni and @Frederic can shed more light on the exact model year (which I don't rem correctly).
  11. From pics it seems the crank seal is leaking and it will only leak when the engine is running. If it's reached the dripping stage, you shouldn't drive and get it checked and changed at the earliest.
  12. Thanks for great info @Looper on most curious subject on Dubai offroad drives. It's really an engineering marvel. Please add the close up pics too above, if you still have them.
  13. The trailer looks very promising. Looking fwd to it.
  14. Here is the plan for tomorrow's Grand Iftar gathering. A few of us will be going early to the gathering venue to secure a place and set up cars and canopies, so if any of you like to join early and not fasting, you are most welcome to join by 4 PM. We will be using Radio Channel 4 (446.081) for all comms. Set up team: 4:00 PM Meeting Point: https://goo.gl/maps/3zBbCKDhDnE3Hygd6 Gathering Venue: https://goo.gl/maps/aMni2oVeVhCydVwt8 (24°47'50.5"N - 55°23'52.6"E) @Klaus Pedersen @Looper @Frederic @Anirudh Dayma @Chris Wing @Salim Akhtar @Vaibhav @Sunny84 @Maheshwar @fayez @Abdul Basit Khan @Jessica Lambert @rohit kumar @ASAD. @Waqas Parvez @M.Seidam @GeorgeFJ @Krishna R @Patrick @Ranjan Das @Marketa Dobesova @Arsalan Ehsan @Gary F @VIJAYA KUMAR DOPPA @Davie Chase Everyone else can reach the same meeting point by 5:30 and deflate to 15 PSI (not much of sand driving) and be ready. If anyone running late then you can simply deflate to 15 PSI and follow the nearby track to reach the gathering venue, it's pretty much a flat sandy open area and you will see Carnity canopies or cars with Carnity flags. Please do not bring too much food for others, as everyone will be carrying their own, a little extra to share is plenty. Please carry garbage liners to clean up after the gathering, as we should not leave any trash behind. No driving on sand or play area near to gathering venue as it disturbs the iftar food setup. When you join or move your car, do it respectfully to not to disturb others. We will be using Radio Channel 4 (446.081) for all comms. Meeting Time: 5:30 PM Meeting Point: https://goo.gl/maps/3zBbCKDhDnE3Hygd6 Gathering Venue: https://goo.gl/maps/aMni2oVeVhCydVwt8 (24°47'50.5"N - 55°23'52.6"E)
  15. For these specific criteria in your budget, I would highly vote for Xterra as Fredy also pointed the same. Simply because they are a very good offroader in stock shape and much better than Pajero, especially for long hill climbs. You as a beginner might not understand the value of a long hill climb now, but soon after 3-6 months in offroading you will value that quality. Pajero being LWB is heavier than Xterra which is kind of a medium wheel base (Not SWB, Nor LWB). Also, Xterra is slightly more powerful than Pajero, so this makes Xterra's power-to-weight ratio much better than Pajero's. For the price, this might be an inch expensive, but if you are ready to wait for a month or two, you will get good deals during the summer months very easily. Last but not least, whichever 4X4 you buy, make sure it's not previously off-road driven, so you can actually off-road with peace of mind. Many or rather most 4X4 have been extensively abused while off-roading and when they become expensive to maintain for off-roading, owners trash them for dirt cheap pricing. So look for a car that has no big tires or AT tires, offroad lights, roof rack, offroad flag bracket, bash plate etc.
  16. When FJC and Xterra launched in 2008 for the first 3-4 years till 2012 we still use to see old 4x4 in the desert - Wranglers, Cherokee (which used to be super hit in winters), LR discovery, Prado, LC and Patrols. After 2012, FJC and Xterra slowly prove their real worth and become popular. Also, earlier models of FJC has a fender bender reputation, that Toyota tried to ignore but soon they realize it was better to address and fix than play hide and seek. I also rem when Y62 launched and it also took about 3-5 years to fail completely for desert no matter how hard Nissan tried to influence buyers. The bottom line, any new 4x4 platform will need at least 3-5 years to show its true worth (good or bad).
  17. New update: After a long gap of 3 months of not off-roading with Carnity or a change of vehicle, you should join at least one lower-level drive, before resuming at your existing level.
  18. It's a good and safe practice to join a lower-level drive after a big gap and it's even more advisable when you have a change of vehicle too. As you have had 1 FB plus in Sep 2022, that's why Varun took this call, if it was 5-6 FB+ then it would have been passable but with caution.
  19. Single drive restriction stays from Mon 7:00 PM - Wed 11:59 PM. On Thu - 00:00 AM all waitlists will automatically move to RSVP if the drive isn't full yet. So @Marketa Dobesova you will be moved to the RSVP list in the next 5 hours for this Iftar gathering.
  20. Is your Y62 a desert toy or kept for road use + offroad?
