  1. I would like to do PPI (pre-purchase inspection) myself, I'm thinking to buy 996 Turbo with a low millage! can someone help me with that? what to look for and basic things to look at. I really would like to save time and money on that!

    thanks!

I think doing your own ppi inspection can save you money - and time as well. This is what I did, also its not like mechanic will rip your engine apart and see whats inside, yes, the only plus is they do pressure test and test each cylinder. on 996 model its harder to do that. so they dont even bother doing it.

    1. warm the car up (gauge shows full temp) while its warming up , touch all the switches

    ask for any paperwork.

    2. go for a ride (turn the radio off)  find open road: with no cars around and to be save to open the car up!

    3. BOOST it - all the way to the red line, from 3rd- gear pull - if the car is fine. just cruise to the shop,  check the boost gauge. it should show 0.9 bar or 1 bar(while car was flashed)

    4. put the car on the lift, inspect for any leaks, pads, check the wheels by moving up and down, left and right while the car is in the air

    5. check inneer and outter boots for any tear

    6. look for any body damage

common problems on 996 turbos are:  2nd gear pop, plugs/wires needs to be changed, ripped boots, and BOOST leak the most important thing is you have do do boost leak test....

any questions? you can pm me directly!

  2. I have few cars on my list, I'm interested also in EVO's , do to AWD and Turbo spool ! :) easy to mod etc, which year do you guys think its the best and model, any problems with these cars, I know i should do my re-search first, but my time is running out, I need to make a choice by the end of this week and pick the car I WANT ! I cannot wait !

I dont like evo' X's maybe because of aluminum block - its weaker-  I think you should go with evo 9 beter turbo, more things improved- and newer year of the car.

  3. Hey Deve, since I owned few cars in the past, also- 02 e46 M3! yes, you have to be very-carefull what you chose! I believe that, years 01 through 03 was common problem, later on they fixed, but still I would check the subframe, by lifting the car up and checking- both sides (rear shocks) shine the light throught and you could see hair-line cracks, plenty of horror stories about this problem, usually its also do to lowering the car a lot and putting th stress on the subframe - but i think its also poor engineering!

M3 has also few issues like Vanos failure :D google it up
