  1. Happy Birthday Asif bhai. Wish you lots of good health for years to come.
  2. Very interesting read and the results. Due to the higher pore size in K&N filters you do get better throttle response and probably better gas mileage at lower rpms than a OEM paper filter, but the filtering efficiency takes a big hit. Now imagine the damage, a reduced filtering efficiency (meaning more sand passing through the filter into the engine) while driving in the desert. It certainly points to an early demise of your engine. Definitely, not worth it.
  3. Bravo!! Well done Guys!! Thank you for contributing to the success of the Off-road Club

  7. Congrats @Kailas. You have been an excellent team player throughout your journey at Carnity and this is truly well deserved. Like some have said, this is just the end of the beginning. A new chapter starts from here with new challenges.
  8. So now I know your real profession. Script writer for Tollywood /Kollywood films!!
  9. The Trip to Little Liwa Now, that's what I call a complete drive where we had fast paced action, monstrous dunes to climb, fantastic set of drivers, a bit of shoveling and tugging (not too much) and the final icing, broad smiles from all drivers at the end of the drive. Everyone made it well ahead of time. We were greeted to a beautiful sunrise with a hint of fog. As the visibility was still quite good we enter into the massive dunes across the entry point. Sweihan's beauty was in it's full glory with razor sharp ridges, broad spaced out dunes and huge bowls that begged to be driven at 70+ km/h. However the deeper we went inside the thicker became the fog, so we decided to take a break till the fog lifted. After that break, we pushed the pace to our hearts content. We had plenty of crisscrossing, ridge riding, bowls and also a small patch of technical dunes. And as a final climax to what was already a wonderful drive, the entire convoy rode the bowls beautifully at the backside of Old Lady Dune, gained enough momentum and crisscrossed at the top of Old Lady Dune, from the back to the front. Great job!! Excellent driving by all the drive participants @varunmehndiratta@Rawad @Humayun Ghias @JeromeFJ @Chinthaka Ruwan @Ilya and @Russ. For some, it was their first IM and they managed everything that was thrown at them very well. I hope you guys enjoyed and that it was worth driving the extra distance to reach the AD dunes. As mentioned with the borders opening up and the weather slowly changing for the better, AD is the new frontier to venture. And now that you guys know the secret password, I hope to see you guys more often in AD 😂 Till we meet again on the sand of Abu Dhabi, take care.
  10. @varunmehndiratta @Rawad @Humayun Ghias @JeromeFJ @Chinthaka Ruwan @Ilya @Russ The meeting point has been moved back a few meters because I just realised, in the past Google Maps plays a bit of mischief and leads you through the desert to the original meeting point. I have updated the original post as well as the calendar event Revised Meeting Point https://maps.app.goo.gl/evW9jWqpsYZn5ezL6 At the meeting point you will see a gate in front. The password is Abracadabra. Say it for the gate to open, come a bit forward and park the car on the right side. See you in the morning.

  12. @Rawad @Ilya @varunmehndiratta @Chinthaka Ruwan @Russ Thanks for signing up for the drive and look forward for an amazing Intermediate drive in Little Liwa (Sweihan). The plan is to enter from an area some of us refer to us as Africa. As there are some monstrous dunes at the entrance, the pace would be set from the word go. Depending on how we progress we would then plan to move southwards to the town of Yahar and pay a visit to the Old Lady Dune. Meeting point has been updated on the Drive post as well as the calendar event.
  13. Drive Info Little Liwa is an off-roaders paradise with massive bowls, razor sharp ridges and long hill climbs. Nested within the town of Sweihan, this drive would be a prelude of terrain that one can expect in Liwa Oasis. There are places where the sand would break faster than the descent of your vehicle with a rumbling sound which is a specialty of this area. With the opening of the Abu Dhabi borders and just slightly more than an hour drive from Dubai, this is the perfect playground for driver and vehicle. General Info This drive is organized in full compliance with the COVID19 guidelines. We expect every member that joins this drive to go through below information and and strictly follow these guidelines in order not to jeopardize someone's health, and to ensure we can keep organizing these drives safely. 15. Congratulations @Lorenzo Candelpergher. You started offroading with one of the most difficult cars to drive, but you stuck to it and got the very best out of it. You plan your drives extremely well and are always willing to scout new terrain, a Hallmark of a good Marshal. Well done.
  16. Congratulations @Islam Soliman. Fantastic achievement at an amazing pace as well. It just seems like yesterday when we first met on the AN drive, and to be honest I was worried about the Yukon with it's low hanging bumpers and air dam. After crossing every dune I would turn around to check if you crossed safely, but you have stuck to that car and achieved probably the impossible and that is taking it everywhere in all kinds of terrain and for that I have the utmost Respect for your drive skills. Well done my friend. The journey is only just beginning as you would now be mentoring and guiding many first time off-roaders as well. Cheers.
  17. Trip Report As we are coming to the end of September, if one observes closely you can feel the slight chill in the morning air. A preview of the good weather that is not very far from now. We had one AN in our convoy with the others having a few drives under their belt. We started easy in the broad dunes, that I have come to love in Sweihan which helps keep a brisk pace, even for ANs. As the convoy was responding very well, we decided the head to the north of Sweihan which have the massive dunes and bowls. The size of the dunes can intimidate the best, but the entire convoy showed a lot of courage as we moved from one dune to the other. Along the way we came across a massive bowl and as we were making our way to it's entry point, we had our first and last scare of the drive - a flying Pajero. A bit too much speed and the car just took off. 😅. Luckily no major damage and we could get the front bumper looking just as new again. The newbies entered the bowl and we were shown how to exit out, before me, @Mohamad Anwerand @Jeepie made an attempt to circle the bowl. The bumps on one side of the bowl did make it difficult to gain the full momentum, but we all had our adrenaline rush with more than a couple of attempts. We then moved towards the exit and with a bit of fatigue starting to kickin', so did the number of refusals and sticks, but nothing that couldn't be managed by @Jeepie. All in a day's work!! Some brilliant driving by the entire bunch of Newbies @Johannes Roux @Mohammed Yazir Thattarathil @Salim Akhtar @Mohammed Ibrahim @Nabeel Abdul Rahman to keep their nerve, follow precise instructions and drive through the mighty dunes of Sweihan. An excellent second lead by @Mohamad Anwer whom I had the pleasure of meeting for the first time. And finally a big shout out to the Superwoman of the day @Jeepie , whose support permitted me to be a bit more adventurous with the Newbies. Hope to catch up with you guys soon on the sand.
  18. @Johannes Roux @Salim Akhtar @Mohamad Anwer @Bobby Jacob @Mohammed Ibrahim Thank you for joining tomorrow's Sweihan drive. For those who would be driving with us for the first time welcome to the Carnity Offroad Club. PREPARATION FOR THE DRIVE AND WHAT TO EXPECT 1) Please ensure that you reach the meeting point on time, i.e., 6:00 AM sharp. Reaching 10 mins early would be better, but dont be late. Also, ensure that you have tow points at the front and rear with 8 inch (min ground clearance) 2) All first timers with Carnity need to ensure that they have gone through the Newbie briefing Video : https://youtu.be/hP-2ah4Eyek 3) The senior members on tomorrow's drive would be @Jeepie and myself. 4) We will be using Carnity Channel 3 tomorrow. (446.05625 Mhz). The instructions to program the radio are provided in the below post. Please ensure that you have a fully charged and programmed radio before the drive. If you are a first timer with Carnity we shall provide you with a spare radio for this drive, if you dont have one. 5) All traction controls, Airbags and ABS need to be switched off. While turning off traction control is mandatory, its ok if you are unable to turn off the Airbags for this drive. Traction Control, ABS and Airbags can be disabled by a button or by pulling the fuse. Incase of any queries you can always ask me or the senior members before the drive or better still, post your queries on this drive post and we would assist. https://carnity.com/advice/offroad/carnity-two-way-radio-frequencies-r119 6) You will need a pressure gauge and deflator as a minimum. If you have a compressor it would be good to being along. 7) For highway tyres you can deflate to 15 psi. Those who have AT tyres, you can deflate to 13 psi. We shall be starting the drive on some flat tracks and would build up the pace from there depending on the convoy response. We will be driving for about 3.5 hours practicing driving in sand, proper steering control, crossing some dunes, and getting you and your vehicle more familiarized with the desert. By 10:00 am we will be heading out towards the ADNOC gas station. Convoy Numbering 1. Srikumar 2. Mohd Anwer 3. Yazir 4. Mohd Ibrahim 5. Johannes 6. Salim Akhter 7. Nabil 8.
