Any garage would be fine. Just ensure that you put an original mopar clutch plate, pressure plate and pilot bearing. While you might get away with a half depressed clutch on the road, you will always have a burnt clutch while offroading. Clutch should be either fully in or out. No other way and if you struggle in 4 Hi while trying to self recover put the car in 4 Lo immediately and get yourself out. Your today situation brings back memory of my first drive with a manual transmission where I roasted it completely 😬

Hi Tamas, Yes you will have to do the DPI (Laser) or PCR test 48 hours prior to entering Abu Dhabi. Even if you dont have an appointment you can do the DPI test at Sharjah Shooting Club (there is a separate line which takes a bit longer) or you can goto the DPI Center at Ghantoot direct on Friday morning. Due to the zero rush in the wee hours of the morning they generally donot ask for the appointment and you can walk in. I have been there a couple of times in the morning with no appointment and was able to go through, but cant confirm the same every time. The entire procedure along with the various centers are mentioned in the below topic

Thank you @Vanessa8580 for a lovely evening. From my perspective, I would split the drive in two parts. The first part where you set a pretty brisk pace with plenty of side slopping and dunes crossing. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it also gave me the chance to test my new gear to the limit. 😄 The second part was what I would like to call a recovery drive which brought out everyone's thinking caps and ofcourse shovels, ropes, jacks, etc. Though it did seem like a troubled recovery, the friendly banter and team effort set the right atmosphere for the next couple of hours. Fantastic effort by those who were actively involved as well as those who very patiently waited and enjoyed the sunset besides their cars. While everyone did an amazing contribution a special mention has to be made to @Pancho @Desert Dweller @Foxtrot Oscar @Nacho and ofcourse you @Vanessa8580 for keeping calm and accessing the problem one step at a time. Offroading is not just about driving, but about overcoming challenges and those couple of hours brought the best out of the entire team. Kudos to everyone. See you all next week.

TRIP REPORT Absolute Newbie convoys offer some of the most interesting challenges because you meet drivers some of whom are venturing of the tarmac for the first time and have probably never revved their engine beyond 3000 rpm on the road. In offroad the entire game, starts at 3000 rpm and above. With a relatively shorter convoy, there was plenty of scope to push the pace a bit with the Absolute Newbies and they responded brilliantly. Other than the occasional refusals there was no major issue till the final bowl where we had 4 cars that needed to be recovered. That for me was the highlight of the day, as with a bit of team work, perseverance and loads of patience we were able to recover all the cars out without taking out the rope. Well done guys. As I emphasized in the briefing, offroading is a team sport and it was good to see some active participation when needed. Few important points in terms of feedback to all the drivers: Maintain sufficient distance from the car in front without losing visual of the car or the track taken. As the pace increases accordingly the convoy distance needs to be increased. Incase you see the car infront struggling or losing momentum, donot attempt to overtake. Exit out well in advance. Giving gas from a stand still position is not going to help much. Start gently and then build the pace, @Manjinder Singh was my second lead who followed all the instructions precisely and did a perfect job. He also patiently waited in his car for close to 30 mins while we were recovering the other cars from the bowl. You have the right temperament to do well in this sport. @Badar Tariq was offroading for the first time but whatever little apprehensions he had disappeared in the first 30 mins and he was then willing to push his car. Well done, as the Pajero is a car that needs a little bit of more practice than say the Jeeps. @Nithin Vaidir was quietly going about the dunes in his LC with the minimal of fuss. Nicely done. You managed to exit out of the bowl on your own which for me is an Achievement as an Absolute Newbie. @Kiran bhagat and @Sharooq Fassul the two wranglers in the convoy were having plenty of fun at the back of the convoy by pushing their rides to the limit. While wranglers are fun cars to drive in the desert, also start practicing your steering control to avoid slipping and sliding when doing U turns and side slopping. And finally shout out to @Vanessa8580 who has been actively supporting most of my drives over the past few months. Very much appreciated. Also, seeing the manner in which you took the Pajero out from the bowl with the minimum of fuss, my co passenger nicknamed you the Pajero Specialist, which for me is a badge of honor, as you need special skills to drive that car so well. Moving forward you all will be joining the Newbie drives and not an Absolute Newbie drive. Drives are announced every Sunday at 11 am, and they go live on Sunday at 7 pm. Due to the high demand, these drives get full in about 10 minutes, so please be online at 7 pm to book your spot. For the next drives, please bring along a deflator, pressure gauge, flag and radio as a minimum. Learn to deflate your tires and checking them precisely Learn to fix a flag on your car Learn to program and fully charge your radio Also like I mentioned during the debriefing, join the Carnity Whatsapp Drive Notification to get the latest updates on the drives, so that you can RSVP on time for the next weekend's drive. Please have a look at below topic which describes the tools needed for every level: Please have a look at below grading structure that explains various off-road levels:

Asif Hussain has been promoted to Marshal level
Srikumar replied to Gaurav's topic in Off-Road Club's Announcements
@Asif Hussain you were part of the original team of 5 Carnity Members with whom we used to off-road every weekend. From 5 members we have grown to more than active 120+ members who drive every weekend and you have played a key role quietly in the background. You opened up so may new routes and tracks in Abu Dhabi that we could only dream. You taught us what is Sweihan and ofcourse the Infamous Naqrah dunes as well (I felt the effect this morning as well). 😜 You learned your skills on the most difficult car amongst us, but still took it to such amazing places. All of the above is a testament of your capabilities. Extremely happy and privileged that I was part of your first Newbie lead. Congrats Marshal Asif
