For me the first ride was a Honda Civic at 22 years and it was fully manual including gear and steering or Windows, nothing was powered so I just wanted to get a ride. My second was a bit more thoughtful in a Mitsubishi Eclipse GSR4 Turbo tuned by AMG. It was about looks, being fast and some nice gadgets being a US version. By my 3rd car I was already married with a kid, so it was about comfort, cheap maintenance and God resale value. This came in the shape of a Toyota Echo. After I joined offroading all my logic went out of the window as long as I could drive it off road. Started with a 5.7 Hem V8 with lots of joy and regret. Downgraded to a V8 3.9 litre Discovery, loads of comfort. Lastly downgraded to a 3.3 litre V6, pretty satisfied, but no real logic applied, just what I could afford.

Bu Shanab, Fatma Jumaa... and other 4x4 and cars nicknames
Rahimdad replied to Emmanuel's topic in General Discussions
Only heard one Nick name for the xterra. Nothing comes to mind with the Prado. But the ardent Jeep lovers always refer to their Jeeps with the first 2 alphabets their Chasis numbers starts with. So the Wranglers start with the YJ from 1992 to 1997, TJ from 1998 - 2007, JK from 2008 - 2018, JL 2019 onwards. The old Jeep Cherokee is referred to as the XJ. Commander was XK. Jeep Grand Cherokee of the old was the WJ if I'm not wrong. And the newer Cherokee was the KK after which Cherokee became like run of the mill AWD.- 30 replies

Going alone in the desert : good or bad idea ?
Rahimdad replied to Emmanuel's topic in Offroad General Discussion
Don't agree with hot shots. I've been involved in desert driving, marshalling major events and even organized my own event 4 years in a row. Never go alone, you never know when you need friends. We are all here to support each other, going alone will never be advised by me. Minimum of 3 cars for any desert drive required. -
Will not recommend the hack. In the desert it's not always about the up but torque as well, and if the gear does not hold in first and shifts to second you loose that torque and continuous power. That break in shifting causes momentum loss. So it's not about how much to you can use, but how it's supplied and how well you can use it. Hope this clears your confusion.

Why girls love Jeep Wrangler so much....?
Rahimdad replied to Gaurav's topic in Jeep Wrangler Forum in UAE
Even my brother's wife went for Jeep Wrangler in bright Yellow colour, when asked why she just liked the looks not the run of the mill SUVs like nowadays. -

Bu Shanab is what they call a moustache with sharp edges pointing upwards which look like tow hooks that the Toyota Land Cruiser pickup used to have on the front bumper.- 30 replies

Prado Service Cost (Dealer & Garage)
Rahimdad replied to syedyaseer's topic in Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Forum in UAE
Ask them to reply on email as discussed, or write back with the advisor name saying as discussed this is what we agree upon, if they don't reply means they agree to your terms and conditions. But @Gaurav bhai is right, you should have everything in written. -

Thanks @hossein for sharing and yes @eduardo thank you for introducing the idea. But I agree with @Gaurav and @Frederic this could cause more damage and not worth it, plus it says it allows the car to drive in 2nd and 3rd gear only, sometimes we need the 1st gear to push and don't really recommend the Omani Hack.

@sertac wise decision. Total respect.
-
@sertac so you are not sure yet. Suspense continues, can it do 2WD drifts or not.

@eduardo we spoke about this on the last drive, it's totally fine. I will see you whenever you are ready to hit the sands again. -
Once a Jeep, always a Jeep. May God Almighty bless you with your choice. From my understanding @sertac JGC is an AWD, if that is the case we will miss your drifts.

Every off-roader must know: What Went Wrong?
Rahimdad replied to Rahimdad's topic in Off-Road Club's Discussions
If you want to perform a stunt like this make sure you are prepared. Practice at slower speeds to make sure you are getting a straight lift and not side ways. Slowly increase your speed on each attempt to understand how your car reacts and you can prepare yourself for the final jump. Remember you are using natural sand which is always shifting as your ramp and do not have firm controlled ground. As @Gaurav bhai said, do not attempt stunts, but if you do prep yourself before you cause any incident. At that speed you have very little time to react and also the impact is hard and difficult to get away, but counter steer and keeping up the power instead of letting go can help to some extent. -
Best 4x4 cars under 10K and 20K dhs in UAE

The old Blazer and Tahoe don't even fall in the expensive category, no idea why they put it there. Arabian Adventures were using the Tahoe for 10 straight years instead of the Land Cruisers.- 102 replies

Every off-roader must know: What Went Wrong?
Rahimdad replied to Rahimdad's topic in Off-Road Club's Discussions
Thank you @Chirag S. and @syedyaseer. Partly right. The speed was his enemy, but I guess it was deliberate as he wanted all 4 tires in the air. Maybe car was loaded to one side or he had a bad angle to take off, as the car tilted in the air. Once landed that hard on one side with tires bouncing the car the other side and due to excessive speed no time to control the maneuver causing the roll.
