  1. Well, Turns out it wasn't because of the hole in the exhaust. It was because....wait for it....the car was running on zero ml of engine oil. Yeah, it never occured to me to check the level of engine oil. Topped it yesterday and works just fine.
  2. I heard that new law bbq is prohibited in desert aswell.
  3. come on. really? Well until you can please reply
  4. Urm thanks. Although I'm just a guy in the process of making. Unless I am doing a private chat with you in which you tell me what will happen if you do the following, I will keep doing this. So get ready to deal with the load of my horseshit cuz that is what we do here in carnity right? Also, a hole this small would cause the mpg to go down this much? wierd. I read that straight pipe makes MPG better. :/ Also I thought that you need a tune to make your car to run rich. Running rich cause backfire in the exhaust right?
  5. So probably after new year I am gonna visit Sharjah because I heard that there are a lot of junk or salvage yards there. I wanted to salvage some body parts for my land cruiser because much of it is beat up. First I want to know how do these junk yards work? Can I take any part that I can find from a junk car? Say I found a bumper that would normally cost 300 DHS from a store what would it cost here? In the end can someone put down the coordinates to a good one?
  6. Hmmm, welding not really at my disposal but the hole is really super small. 2 mm to be precise. Will a screw do the job? I think something has gotten loose. No the temp gauge is the same from the day the car was bought. And no I didn't take the thermostat out.
  7. Hello gearheads, So for the past few days the fuel consumption of my LC has gone up drastically. I am getting super poor MPG. previously the MPG was not a lot different from a toyota Prado. Well now, yesterday the fuel tank was topped up (180 dhs) and Jebal Ali to dubai to Al Ain and back again in the previous order the tank is almost empty, like on the last bar before E on the fuel gauge. The thing is I cant see any leaks of sort. So what info do I have: The car smells of petrol all the time(driving or stopped). This has been happening after the desert trip. I also drilled in the straight pipe right before the catylic converter(if that could cause it). Help? Thanks. Also, the temp gauge on the tach always stays at cold maybe sometimes it would go a little high but always C. Why am I mentioning it is because I read somewhere that if the engine reads cold there will be more petrol provided to the engine to make it hot.IDK the reason I am posting my problems here is because it is better than taking it to mechanic and possibly getting ripped of. Also I don't know a good garage that does good work on cruisers for the price. Thanks.
  8. Thanks all I look forward to joining any drive that is most possible for me. Although treks and desertdude, you misunderstood or maybe I wasn't clear. I was driving in High ratio in the start and because my car is automatic I was using Gears L and 2 (on the auto gearbox not the off road one which sort of gives oyu more control over your gears like a manual car). I know I hit the diff lock as soon as I touched sand. As you were saying that I would run out of gears, that was not the case. I hardly hit the red line on L (while drivng in High ratio so the 2nd gear was not needed the entire time. Even in the first gear while climbing the rpm would go down and down even though I had traction I was forced to turn around. But in offroad gear L4 I had crazy power. I could feel it. The rpms stayed up in the first gear until the tires gave up and at highest rpm the car sounded a lot louder compared to high ratio.(In the land cruiser auto 2001 there is a diff lock, Off road gears go by H[used this to drive on road the same I was using first in the sand] N [neutral] and L4[crazy power]). I feel that the engine has lost it!? I was wondering if it would be trouble driving on L4 the whole time. BTW I did feel less power the first time I went to Bidayer aswell(the engine took forever to rev up). It is terribly hard to explain this but I'll end it here. I trust it will be enough for you to understand.
  9. Hello, Today was my second trip to bidayer or second ever trip to the desert. Although, it was with just one car again so I couldn't harvest the true potential of desert driving. I did not go in too deep for I had the fear of getting stuck and not getting any help. Although during this trip I was more experienced, I was even more scared. Not scared that the terrain is bad but just scared that the car would flip over. Even though I watched countless videos and read multiple forums on how to drive in sand properly, how not to fight gravity and stuff, I still was scared even though i was driving the car properly. I think if this fear continues then I might lose my interest to the desert which would be very hard and emotional. I want your help to boost my confidence, how not to be scared. Also I saw an Arab ripping his land cruiser sideways on a dune. What was peculiar? The whole time he had his wheel turned up to the top of the dune which means he was fighting gravity hard yet, he did not flip over. I'm confused. Explain please? Also I this time I managed to crush a part of the front bumper. But, it just needs some paint, I think! Also, when I was scaling the back side of the big red dune, I diff locked and use gears L and 2. I couldn't make the half of the dune!(no power). Then I switched the offroad gear to L4 and guess what? 2times better. The car went crazy(huge power!). How? I am confused! explain please. what did i do wrong first? why was there no power before? Thanks and Crazy Driving!
  10. As you all know, when you get stuck in the sand, getting pulled is the first thing that comes to mind which means you need have tow cable as the most important accessory. Although, it is my first time buying any of these things so I don't know which one to get. I saw a strap for 40 dhs which I cant say was decent quality because I don't what a decent strap looks like. It had a breaking load of 4000kgs and limit of 2000kgs. Then there was steel cable with simple hooks on either side for 20dhs. Again, I cant say if it was decent quality because I don't know what to look for in a quality cable. Although, there was no written weight limit on the cable packaging. Do you mind helping? which one should I get? Even if any of those lasts me one day I will be happy and I think 40 dhs is a bargain, or is it because I don't know what a good strap or cable should cost. Although, if both of them are crap what and where should I get it from. I wouldn't spend a lot on it because I am not a hardcore offroader and my trips are severely limited. Thanks.
  11. I disagree. I quite like those names. It sort of seems like names of foreign wines. Expensive foreign wines.
  12. Renault Duster?? Please no. Then there are some manufacturers that with the combination of their name and logo makes you wanna go jump of a building. Take daihatsu and daewoo for example.
  13. It wasn't being used in the sand so temporarily I thought why not use them torsion bars. It looked so good.
  14. That happens but the other wheel does spin but with little power compared to the other wheel.
  15. Could have gotten loose. What are the risks associated with having less lsd oil?
  16. Yes, I have the same doubt because mechanics siphoning your money has become really common. Although 9 against 1 i believe that the engine somehow was resting on the shocks and springs not how it should. Hard to explain that is why this explanation is so weak. I will check with the guy. Although feel free to add in your suggestion.
  17. thanks for the reply. What i really meant was is there a 2wd 2006 murano. The thing is me and friends are going into sand and my friend doesnt know about his car well. he says that his murano is not a 4 wheel drive/all wheel drive.
