  1. Coming from the E75 you have this one: https://goo.gl/maps/rW7bhXF5Uatpp6nc9 In the event it would be closed, but unlikely, you can head further down on the same road for this one: https://goo.gl/maps/hUZfB4pyDVdkGYzm6
  2. Good morning guys ! @M.Seidam@Bjoern@Imran Kashif@Gok Krish@Amr Aydin@Zed Just closed off the convoy. Please find your convoy positions here above. We will be using Channel 2: 446.031 Mhz See you all this evening !
  3. Yup, Isuzu was rebadged under Vauxhall, Opel, Chevy, Honda, etc.. Look at the Opel/Vauxhall Montery (Isuzu Trooper) or the Opel/Vauxhall Frontera (Amigo). Fantastic and probably as reliable as Toyota but the law suits in US and lack of service centers amongst other reasons killed it off. Isuzu was even the first to design the common-rail-diesel technology.
  4. Actually you might find it hard to believe but there was an Isuzu Amigo on YOUR Absolute Newbie drive ! These are superb little offroad monsters, driven by a friend of mine @abms2ktrooper
  5. That Duster was a great little 4x4 and he did great in the dunes as it’s super light.
  6. @Nilakantan Erodewe also need to clarify a little bit with what we define as offroading in the UAE. We generally see two types of Offroaders here in the UAE: 1. The occasional weekend explorer Any Newbie or Fewbie level drive has enough excitement for you, and you bring your daily ride to the game, so you don't want to get your bumpers damaged. You prefer the easy calm stuff and prefers camping and doing gentle drives with existing farm tracks. You couldn't care less if your car cannot climb Faya from the front. 2. The addicted dune basher After having done a few Newbie or Fewbie drives, the sand addiction kicks in hard and the entire week you are looking forward to deflating your tyres and heading out to find new tracks and up your level. You research a lot and do everything to master your skills and climb higher (not just on the dune but also in your skills). You love the thrill of ridge riding, criss crossing, and high paced drives. Congratulations you are now an addict and will justify any expenditure to remove your inhibitions. The thing is, if you know that you will be staying in category 1, get yourself a reliable 4x4 with few creature comforts, plenty of space for the kids / camping gear / others, and enjoy the hobby. The Nissan Patrol Y62 falls into that category but many options are there. BUT most people don't know if they will become that category 2 person. In that case everything changes, and you might become very disappointed, since you have bought a category 1 car and now you need to turn it into a category 2 car which will cost you a bit and will never do what you want it to do. For that reason, you need to find the sweet spot of understanding what you want to do and finding the right tool (4x4) to do it. After offroading for about 5yrs with older dedicated offroad toy, i purchased a Patrol Safari which i use more for overlanding/camping and less for dune bashing adventures. I absolutely love it and yes it is underpowered in stock version but gets me anywhere and i found peace with what it is. I happily take out my Trooper for the more challenging stuff where i can rev out the engine to my heart's desire. Long story short: Buy yourself a 4x4 that can master both categories: * Prado or FJ. FJ needs no mods, Prado needs bash plate and bumper trim. * Jeep Wrangler. no mods needed. * Pajero. Needs bash plate and rear skid plate. * Xterra second hand (up to 2015 model). no mods needed
  7. This is the post of the year. @Carnitygive this man a medal and voucher for Vox Cinema !
  8. 1. Pajero. Some minor mods are needed (front bashplate and rear skidplate) Once this is done you are good to go. The Pajero is hard to beat for its value. Fuel economy however is poor (17-18 l/100 km). 2. Jeep Wrangler Sahara V6 - NEW from Trading Enterprises. 3yrs Service + 5 yrs warranty . Price AED 240k. Not sure if maint / resale especially if I move out of UAE in 3-4 years). The Jeep Sahara is nice and have plenty of options. If you are happy with less options you could consider the Sport. 3. Nissan patrol Super safari V6 VTC 4.8L. NEW from Arabian. 1-2 month delivery. price AED 210K plus 3yrs Service / 5 yrs Warranty . Good off-road reputation but fuel efficiency seems very low! Fuel efficiency is indeed low but resale value and reliability is superb . If you plan to really bash the dunes then the short wheel 2door model is more recommended. 4. Nissan Patrol SE titanium V6. NEW from Arabian plus 3 yrs Service 5 yrs Warranty. Price AED 260K. Seems heavy and not sure if this will be an over kill. Also not sure if maint. Not for dunebashing in my opinion, or you will need to modify the bumpers and make other mods).
  9. Hi @SamMills1994! Welcome to the UAE and welcome to Offroading in general If you are looking for a daily commuter that will also serve as a good offroader within 100k budget, i would recommend looking at the following new or young second hand models: 1. Toyota Landcruiser Prado (second hand). very capable on road and off-road. 2. Mitsubishi Pajero. Excellent value and capable off-roader with minor mods. 3.8 Engine is the best option. 3. Nissan Xterra 2022 model. Nice off-roader but not for heavy dune-bashing (underpowered due to 4 cylinder engine). 4. Mitsubishi Montero Sport. Nice off-roader. slightly underpowered but manageable. There's probably few more models but these are the first ones that popped into my mind. The older generation Xterra models (up to 2015) are famous for Offroad capability. They also make great daily commuters but without fancy options of course as these are very utilitarian 4x4's. You will find them second hand but will need to do your homework to double check they have not been abused too much.
