Required expert opinion on buying 1998/99 jeep XJ
Frederic replied to ShereenMK's topic in Jeep Cherokee Forum in UAE
Totally agree. But the Landcruiser is a lot heavier than the Pajero unfortunately. But yes with practice and finding the right lines you can achieve much more than most would expect. -

Pajero 2007-2011 Tiptronic Upshift Issue
Frederic replied to Frederic's topic in Mitsubishi Pajero Forum in UAE
In Area53 it is less easy to build momentum sometimes, and the massive amount of cross-tracks results in losing a lot of power. Generally when climbing you should build enough momentum and use tiptronic to go from first to second gear, and once you are running out of momentum, kick it back into first gear to get that last extra juice out of it. Omani hack.... to be avoided. In those cases, dont forget to double check your tyre pressure. Towards the end of the drive it might have gone up to 15-16psi. Deflating back to 10-12 (depending on your tyres) will make a difference as well. Chiptuning.. not a fan personally, but yes there options to get rid of that upshift issue. -

Dear @Tareq Al Turq @Myles Keague@Markus B @Ryan Tan @Rajat Verma @Meng kiat Ng @Mohammed Sirajuddin Thanks for signing up for your first off-road drive with us. Some pointers I wanted to mention: 1) Be very careful when you take the exit just before the meeting point. You will need to cross the bicycle track and it's busy on the track nowadays. They have the right of way at all times ! 2) Please be on time, or even better arrive 15-20 mins earlier so we can help out with deflating when needed. 3) Bring a pressure gauge, deflator, and a compressor please. There is a compressor at the Last Exit Petrol Station where we will be end, but this one is mostly out of order or working very slowly. 4) If you have a walkie talkie already, you can tune in to 446.006 Mhz when you arrive. This is our Channel 1 that we use for the Absolute Newbie Drives. If you do not have one yet, we will provide you with a spare one that you can use for the drive. 5) Please watch the Absolute Newbie Briefing video posted here above with your full attention, as this is the best preparation for your first off-road drive with us. 6) Please follow the COVID19 guidelines by wearing a mask whenever you are out of the vehicle and during the briefing. Seniors on the drive will by myself and @Mukundan Nair, we will be helping you out with deflating if needed, and during the drive if you have any stucks or issues. I am sure we will be having lots of fun tomorrow ! See you soon in the sand !

The LED ones you usually buy from places like dragonmart are maybe advertised as being 300Watts, but they are never that much (marketing) So lets do a quick calculation: -Imagine you have a 60Ah battery. This means it can last one hour for a load of 60 Amps. -A 300W led consumes about 24Amps (Amps = Power divided by Voltage) (300 / 12.6 = 23.8 Amps). So if the LED is consuming 23.8 Amps on a 60Ah battery you would be in theory good for about 160minutes. In reality, you will probably find that these LEDS only consume about 10 amps (many of them even have a provision to plug into the cigarette lighter socket, which has a 10A fuse). If that is the case you would be good for 5-6 hrs. As mentioned, it is indeed advisable to have an external battery, dedicated for your LED lights, but if the plan is to use it only for a couple of hours (and you have starter cables and a friend with another car that can jumpstart you in case needed), you can give it a try.
