  1. Looking forward to the drive ! My wife simply cannot believe how i am able to wake up so soon on a Friday morning to go off-roading because normally she can never get me to wake up early 🤣
  2. Truly amazing adventure from looking at the footage. Again a real example of teamwork and combined efforts with safety in first mind. Your winch has probably paid itself back multiple times already. @Asif Hussain i am extremely impressed with your car and its abilities. I thought in the past that American vehicles were too heavy for these kind of adventures but boy was i wrong. It's a blessing to be a junior member of this offroad community. There is sooo much to learn and pass on to others, especially the safety basics. On the weekend near to my place a Porsche Cayenne got stuck and he was revving away getting himself deeper. He "thought" that with that type of car deflating is unnecessary. Another guy showed up and they started messing about with 20dhs ropes. I approached the guy and made some friendly suggestions. After shoveling away the sand and deflating till 15psi he got himself out easily without all the pulling and snatching. It took us less than 15mins and most of all it was by far the safest way. My first months going in the desert near to my house i've seen so many bad examples of unsafe behaviour which could easily result in the horrifying videos you might find on Youtube. People generally don't mean to do bad or unsafe things but they just don't know better. Maybe the senior Carnity guys could make a video like this guy has on his own channel, specifically aimed at UAE viewers.
  3. Since the people with too much money got bored investing in wine or paintings, they ended up buying old timers and collector item cars which led to this craze.
  4. It’s Reddit for me. If you register as a user you can select the sub /r departments you want to follow so only these will show up in your feed.
  5. Displacement is passé. Look at electric cars and their performance. Time to wake up and smell the Amps 🤣
  6. The small turbocharged engines totally make sense in Europe with all the high taxes on emission and high price for petrol. It keeps the car light and i can imagine the A110 handles like a dream. It's all about fun per hp if you ask me. I'd like to see how many +400bhp cars are still being sold in Europe. All the big German manufacturers still make them but they are mainly being sold to CEO's living in emerging economy countries where the petrol prices are reasonable and where people don't get taxed-off their socks. (like UAE) Without their commodity vehicles they would all have been bankrupt already.
  7. Doesn't AD have a China Mall ? Not sure if they have the required items over there. If you fancy ordering online you can try desertcart.ae They are not superfast and not the most cheapest but get the job done: Safety Flag two way radio you can get through souq or desertcart, but i've never tried it and i am afraid it could get blocked in customs.
  8. Yes Mleiha museum is definitely worth a trip. Try the cafeteria on the backside, it’s fabulous. You can drive around the area as there are some easy accessible roads leading into the desert. But don’t camp In that area. We did one and didn’t sleep for 5 mins. with the racing muppets and heroes racing up fossil rock.
  9. In my opinion the Wadi's in UAE are not really worth a visit anymore. Either they are dry, or they are full of garbage and too many people. If you are up to driving a bit further down to Oman then please read on. We did both Wadi Tiwi and Wadi Shab in Oman a few weeks back and they are simply stunning. Both can be done with young kids but involves a busy day hiking, climbing and swimming. We also camped on the beach in Oman because it is still allowed. Lots of information can be found online by googling them. The OMAN Offroad books that you can buy in the bookshop are even better as they provide more detailed information.
  10. Because I live in one of the newer communities on the way to Al Quadra road, it’s a pain to get to the nearest petrol station sometimes. One of our neighbors posted the Cafu service recently on the community web page and it got quite some attraction. There is a Cafu app. If I’m not mistaken you pay 18dhs extra delivery fee. Fuel prices are same as petrol station.
  11. Shame i can't make it. I'll be having 20+ kids visiting us on a birthday party and sleepover with tents etc... Please mention me in your prayers.....😓
  12. Indeed a heavily overpowered vehicle, fully on 2WD which was indeed an accident waiting to happen. Makes me wonder if he had NOS or some sort on board on the passenger side, causing the immediate fire and subsequent explosion.
  13. @Gaurav This is the one i was talking about: Evoscan Software (support for MUT protocol) I don't have experience with it, but came across some posts on other forums from South-Africa and Australia where they were able to hookup the gen2 pajero to it. Next to the software you will need a USB to MUT cable which they also sell through the website.
  14. If I’m not mistaken your pajero works on MUT(II) protocol which is not compatible with the universal OBD type of scanners. I looked into buying one but only one kit (that evo drivers use) was available with software and cable. If you want I’ll send you the link.
  15. Hi guys I just saw the pics. Is that @EmVarlet his Xterra ? Hope he is ok ?
  16. 😮 ooh and here I am thinking that this radio was a show off gadget ! 🤣
  17. With so many cultures and nationalities in UAE, i'd like to compile a playlist of your favourite 5 music tracks; particularly when driving offroad. Please also share your motivation on why you chose that song. I'll start with mine (in no particular order and a loose selection as i can easily put 500 songs here below 😂😞 Wolfmother : The Joker and The Thief Fantastic song while crossing the dunes, uptempo and adrenaline rushing song !! The Doors : Love her Madly The Doors should always be a part of a Roadtrip or Offroad soundtrack. America: A Horse With No Name Just love the smooth rhythm and groove throughout the song Eagles : Take It Easy Same like the Doors basically, mandatory stuff... Fleetwood Mac: The Chain again... mandatory stuff... I have a particularly liking to Seventies Rock and Americana when driving in UAE. Maybe the desolate deserts and climate gives me that typical feeling.
  18. On my ‘99 Pajero the heat seems to come more from the area just next to the 4WD shifter. Can get pretty warm. The road noise came down a bit indeed since @Gaurav bhai gave me that piece of soundproof plate to stick under the passenger footwell. Does RTA inspection complain if the Cat is gone ? Or does it go unnoticed when they are “emptied” ?
  19. Just release the pedal and when they get too close use your windshield spray washers.
  20. Shame but i'll have to skip on this one. Need to bring the father in law back to the airport
  21. Found a sticker near the windshield. It's labeled as a State Farm Insurance Collision. So American i suppose. It's actually a '95 240SX according to the label. Potential driftcar
