  1. Hi @KS2025 It is extremely difficult to recommend shops. What i am happy with is not necessarily what you are happy with. Your first point of "a cheap but good mechanic" is already a red flag for me. If you want to get something good, it will never be really cheap! Having said that, what Dodge seems to quote is indeed very steep. I would first recommend having a sit down with them to understand how for example a heater core hose ends up costing 3,170AED. Surely the hose itself can be maybe only 250AED for both total, so does this mean they charge almost 3000 on labor? Similar story for the other two items. Ask them the cost breakdown of the parts vs labor. Dodge is using Mopar parts if i remember correctly that should be widely available. We all know that an official dealer is charging more than independent shops, but it should be still acceptable, and they should have the common sense to guide the customer with some more detailed information instead of pushing this quote in your throat.
  2. my main issue is getting sharp shots when fully zoomed in. (Sigma 70-300mm with OS). Budget lens on full frame 5d mk2. The 5D mk2 always struggles a bit with fast autofocus.

  7. Thank you all for joining this morning! Our little concept of surrounding the solar park was not the easiest thing to do. We first headed deep into Faqa as i wanted us to have some fun in the bigger dunes. As the sand is very soft these days this meant a few times we had to unleash all the horses we had in our stable Eventually i had to start heading north, and we know in the closer vicinity of the solar park the dunes get smaller and smaller, and with lots of vegetation around it. It meant doing some yoga poses and dealing with some refusals here and there, but nothing @Vanessa8580 couldn't deal with. Her unwavering support kept us going, crawling through the tiny gaps and bumpy passages. But suddenly the solar panels started to emerge and we knew the exit wasn't too far. Surprisingly this is where we found a big KIA SUV with a guy adament to drive to the nearby military camp, but found himself stuck on a soft patch of the gatch track. We gave him a slight tug and @Mahesh_ was so kind to share mobile numbers so in case he had another issue he could still get in touch with us. The amount of construction at the solar park surprised me as it has been a while since i was there. We had to do a lot of loops and drive parallel to the bicycle tracks for a while to find a clean exit where we could park and inflate. We clocked an impressive 61kms. You guys and gals all drove amazing. I threw some challenges at you but you all kept a smile and pushed on. I was a bit unlucky that 5mins into the drive my AC gave up. In the early morning this was no issue but towards the end i felt like a boiled egg 😁 Maybe that's why i couldn't find a proper exit at the Solar park See you all soon in the sand again ! 10. Dear @M.Seidam what a fantastic overview of achievements. Your heart has been in this game from the start, and your unwavering passion for the sand shines still every week. We are blessed to have you with us. I am looking forward to another 5 years of your fantastic drives, meetups, and camaraderie. You are totally right. Everything we do as Carnity is building a community. Without the many members we have there would be no joy, no laughter, and nothing to remember but the shifting sand.
  11. Oooh wow, i assumed both G80 differentials are the same. just looked it up and you are right. As the Isuzu had a GM tie-up at the time, i thought they'd be identical. In my specific model its a pre-1998 LSD unit. The next year they came with a push button 4x4 engage with Track Lock (same as GM G80) From Isuzu forum: in the older 12 bolts (pre-1998) the LSD's are called Power Brute...used mainly in the mid 90's 2nd gen auto trans trucks. in the 1998-2002 "modified 12 Bolt" in the trooper....the LSD is actually a Track-Lok.
  12. The G80 rear differential is a limited slip differential, which is not the same as a locking differential. Limited slip differential means that the real wheels will only allow for a limited amount of spin. If you are not sure if it’s still working properly, you can just jack up the rear of the car and spin one of the rear wheels. If the limited slip differential works then the opposite wheel will turn in the same direction. If you have a regular open differential it will turn in opposite direction. i have the same G80 rear differential on my Isuzu Trooper. Its a nice thing to have but not a replacement for an actual rear locking differential. The light on the dash might be for some models that have the full locking differential. LSD is fully mechanical so I don’t think there would be a light indication.
