We will be meeting up at 6PM at the posted location point. You can deflate to 15psi to ensure easy driving to the camp point. If you decide to join later, there is a GPX track attached. We will be only a couple of dunes inside (5mins from meeting point). If you have some space left, try to bring some firewood if you can, as it gets chilly in the evening. Feel free to camp if you like. Bring some drinks, snacks, or BBQ, for yourself and whatever you are happy to share. Friends or family are welcome to join (no need to RSVP on the event). You might have to define "off-roading trips" and capability in the desert a bit more. If you are into the dune-bashing style of off-roading (most popular here in the UAE), then surely the Jeep Wrangler, Ford Ranger Raptor, Toyota FJ Cruiser are the preferred options. Most come however with some compromises in terms of reliability, space, or others. If you are more into doing long "offroad" or overlanding trips, and love spending lots of time on the road, then you might want to consider looking at: * Land Cruiser Prado (capabilities, reliability, space). * Ford Everest (less popular but with some mods could be quite capable... less known). * Ford Ranger Raptor or Hilux Adventure (if open bed is ok for you).

I wanted to clarify that this scenic drive will be a very gentle drive throughout the Marmoom area, and not a dunebashing style of drive. Hopefully we will be able to spot some gazelles, oryx, and perhaps a fox if we are very lucky. This drive is more an opportunity to enjoy the terrain and bring some passengers along that need a gentle introduction to desert driving. Take note if you like to join in for the Australian Celebration night afterwards, please RSVP on that event as well, so we can keep tabs on how many people we can expect. As mentioned, once this drive is finished, we will drive to the exit together where you can choose to exit and go home or remain deflated and around 6.15PM we will be heading back into the sand (couple of dunes only nearby the exit point) for the Australian National day celebration. Of course there is no need to be Australian , it's a relaxed evening with good music and people sharing some food. Feel free to RSVP if you are interested in joining:

Hi @mist30033, perhaps in the mid options it was not added. In our full option 2008 model it was also not there, but there was a workaround: If you're a bit handy with a soldering gun, this takes about 1hr of your time only, if you are not confident, then perhaps take it an car radio installation shop and show them this option. Another option is to checkout the last versions of Pajero (anniversary edition) which came with a fancy touch screen. Perhaps this can be a replacement of the stock radio, but will cost quite a bit more.

Drive Report What a beautiful chilly morning it was, and it was perhaps meant to be that would be spending some time shoveling and fixing popouts We started the briefing a bit late (plz try to arrive a bit early to the drive if you can), and once we were in the sand we had some small refusals which are normal as a kind of warm-up. Once we visited Ghafteen bowl, where we took a short break overlooking the beautiful area, we ventured deeper into the technical dunes surrounding it. As we planned for a technical drive, this area surely delivered. At one point we had 3 pop-outs in a time span of perhaps 45mins 😁 Lessons to learn when entering technical areas is to ensure your tire pressure is where it should be, and not to force yourself too much making sharp turns, and if you have to make them, do them at a slower speed with lesser throttle. While fixing the last pop-out, we came across our Carnity brothers and sisters. a dynamic convoy led by our legend @Ale Vallecchi. Really great to meet up for a quick chat and to say hello ! As time was slowly running out, we quickly headed back into the dunes for a last spin in some smooth terrain and then exited near the NARC (National Avian Research Center). A fantastic second lead by @Juan R who showed with a Rubicon can do in capable hands during a brilliant self recovery. Great sweep duties from our trusty @Jeandre Bezuidenhout which kept an eye out for us all, and @Srikumar who was happy having the hands-on duties and enjoyed his morning in the sun ☺️ Thank you all for joining again and see you all soon in the sands !
