Dear @Osamamasfaryand @Raghav1996 A flag, radio, and compressor will be needed from the second drive onwards. For your very first drive we can allow for some exceptions and we will try to help out. Have a look at the topics that @Jose Luis Camposhad posted here above. In one single trip to Dragon Mart you can get all three sorted for low cost: - Motorola or Crony MT777 (140dhs approx) or Baofeng UV5R (80dhs approx) radio. - Flag (40-80dhs approx). - Compressor: The big double cylinder camel compressors is around 300dhs. Speedex has it as well under the name VITALY. There are also smaller models but don't expect them to last more than 2 drives. The ARB inbuilt compressors are indeed great but definitely not needed as a beginner.

Ouch. For most of our drives the exit time is "tentative" because there could be some stucks, breakdowns, or other things that might extend the regular timing. In this case because it's a long convoy i do expect it will be easily 11.30 by the time we exit, and the exit is planned to be in Faqa, which is a bit of a drive back to Dubai. If the other commitment is fixed, its better not to take any chances. There will be plenty more drives in the coming winter season. I leave it up to you to decide if it's worth taking your chance

Thanks for the quick response @Kuba Roszyk ! I have added you to the going list because i have expanded the RSVP total. Main reason for this expansion is the fact that this is a gentle overlanding style of drive, so the plan is to keep it easy. In combination with the helpful support i have i was able to extend the convoy to a bigger size.

Thats indeed a lovely drive. I've included a route that starts from Wadi Shees park and takes you through the wadi all the way to Mirbah Beach. @Jameskm take note whenever you would drive in wadis and mountains to take specific attention to the weather conditions. In some vehicles this acts as a simple reinforcement of the bumper itself, while in others it is a necessary component that would take the hit in case of a frontal impact and would reduce potential damages to the engine and surrounding components. Could you perhaps share some photos ?

Hi @Jameskm Qudra area could be a good option. I've included in the attachment two potential routes. You can download this .gpx file and open it with any GPS app like GaiaGPS (free account), Gurumaps, or also Wikiloc or Alltrails. Both are in the Qudra area and very simple. There is one that takes you through the Qudra lakes, which they might like. In general, we would never recommend venturing out alone of course. On the other hand, these routes are mostly on hard tracks. No in the actual dunes. You can go a little bit towards the dunes for a snack and sitdown but not further than that when you are all alone. There is other options further up north like Mleiha, Batayeh, etc... If that would be in your plan as well let me know i can share some scenic tracks of UAQ and RAK. lakes-route.gpx qudra-faqa.gpx

What you perhaps can do is buy the Garmin GLO 2: Garmin GLO 2: Reviewed By A Professional Navigator – Casual Navigation This bluetooth GPS receiver can pair with your ipad, so you end up having more accurate GPS reception. Device overheating is indeed a bit of an issue. I usually try to mount my devices in front of an AC vent to keep them cool, or sometimes hang a piece of cloth inbetween the device and the windshield to keep it in the shade.
