It's a bit of Jeep convention, so those of us without Jeeps are grateful to the rest of you for allowing us to tag along! Radio Channel is 3. Please deflate, flag up and wait in the car for the briefing. COVID is still very real here in the UAE so we will remain strict in making sure our drives are all safe. Hi Thomas, this is the final list as at 10am. As you know, things change normally once the list is published. At 16 cars, I am reluctant to extend the convoy more as that will lead to around 1.5km from front to back. Please continue to watch this space. We are driving together in the morning and on Saturday - so at some point you will tire of driving with me!

Hi @Gaurav Soni I think that on this occasion we probably have enough support for the drive. There is a limit to how many cars we can take out.

There is an embarassment of riches in tomorrow afternoon's drive. We are blessed with some of the most experienced drivers in the club. This means that for the Newbies, it's an opportunity to literally follow in the tracks of some of the leaders in the club where normally you would be three, four or ten cars behind. This is the Newbie drive on which you really want to be and it's unmissable as a result. Please deflate and put up your flags once you arrive. To update on WL position at the moment. @AlexPol - was not WL as this is 1st drive of the week. @Shehab Alawadhi - made if from WL to confirmed @Lakshmi Narasimhan - made if from WL to confirmed @Thomas Varghese - still on WL: Likely we will extend to accommodate, but cannot confirm at this time. Will be moved up if someone pulls out of the drive for any reason. Reason for not putting you straight in the drive is to keep the length of this, a newbie drive, reasonable.

Welcome @Wadepat2 looks like you bring a wealth of off roading experience with you and we look forward to welcoming you into the Carnity fold. You'll find that we are all passionate about getting out there in the sand and that it's much more about having fun and the community (perhaps) than being able to drive our vehicles full tilt up Moreeb dune [there are other clubs for that]. It's the standard axiom - you get out what you put in. As a club we will support your getting to know the sand safely and gradually. As a member, if you like teamwork, meeting people from lots of different places and seeing how all sorts of different (mainly stock) vehicles perform in the sand it's likely the place for you.

Hi @Niki Patel excellent news for you. Really pleased to see you getting this promotion. You've diligently followed every piece of advice you've been given, worked on your skill set for sand driving, handled the challenges and shown that you can drive that machine really well. Delighted for you.

Correct. Indeed they can. Once that's all sorted (by midday tomorrow) we open up again for the waitlisters. So please maintain your patience and we will see what happens. If it works out, you're more than welcome to follow me from the finish of the fewbie to the start of the Newbie.

Am OK to list you as waitlisted for 2nd drive as #3 on that waitlist for 2nd drive - please note comments about the remaining 2 positions being filled with people looking for a 1st drive as they will always get priority.

No problem, I myself am confused between this drive, the morning drive and the drive I have on the next morning.

Qudra is such a large and expansive area there are multiple different types of challenges so in a roundabout way, we are going to start at the start point and see where it leads us. If you think that you are not coming - please let us know now. Tomorrow the waitlist opens and Lakshmi and Shehab are waiting to join in the fun. At the moment, there is space for them ... but if more 1st drive members sign in and bump them out, they are going to be mighty unhappy to find that one of you pulls out last minute and they miss their chance to drive. It's also going to be quite an interesting convoy if it stays this way in terms of the vehicle mix. So let's see where the week takes us. See you soon in the sand.

and I'd like to say THANKS @Ahab Shamaa for saying all these things that need saying. You saved me and Ale a lot of grief and effort in so doing. We love being out in the desert - that's why we do this - but we cannot guarantee a departure time, nor are we mechanics, or magicians (OK - maybe we are a little bit!) or can we continually change the plans because of some controllable change in circumstances. If this type of drive is not for you, Ahab is right: sign out now. We want to drive in the sand, play a little and most of all, I think the overriding thing I read is that we want to use being out in the landscape to clear our heads from the other stuff that's filling them during the week. We are a team and a family in Carnity - so let's make sure we all accept that responsibility for what it is. See you soon in the sand.

Hi @Barry you missed nothing - but we missed your wit, sarcasm and general sense of humour on these pages. Wishing you a lot of success with the new car showroom venture. Hopefully you did the research and have a formula to deliver the sort of showroom we all dream of visiting (i.e. honest salespeople, reliable cars, great sales deals, not feeling the need to shower once you leave the premises).
