  1. It is a 3.8, so lots of potential. Either not enough gas or the power stops being delivered for some reason.
  2. The E4x4 Highway I for one am glad that Carnity starts drives before the crack of dawn, having experienced the level of congestion we did around Big Red and Pink Rock one the rush hour started. Thank you everyone for arriving so punctuality that we could get moving early enough to experience just a little bit of driving dark. Dawn was breaking as we arrived at Big Red which allowed us enough light for a little playtime all to ourselves. As we all found out later, these dunes get quite crowded later in the morning. I remember my first Fewbie drives, realising that the pace is often quicker than before, as well as the complexity and we did enjoy a good range of challenges today. Soft sand pockets combined with multiple tracks are not the easiest of obstacles, but we are not always going to find pristine dunes, so it is important to learn how to navigate you way through. @Anish S did a great job in 2nd lead, not putting a wheel wrong showing his slightly greater Fewbie experience. Behind him noone really struggled, but just about everyone had their moments. @Yousef Alimadadi, either get the chips remapped or use a bit more gas. Your car is anything but underpowered. I see the improvements every week in your driving, so keep it up. @Islam Soliman that Yukon is a heavy old beast, with a big power plant. So please be careful with the weight of your right foot if you get into trouble. I can guarantee that if you have to dig yourself out with your own shovel you'll quickly start either taking note of the wheels digging in, or need a much bigger shovel. @Mukundan Nair @h1fny @Neale Faulkner as first time Fewbies ... Well done. You've started to see the difference in expectations from a Fewbie drive and really handled everything well save for a few little moments. No doubt the FJ crew at the back had a lot of churned up sand to deal with @David Ortells and @Christian Andras , but more than @Jun Zamora whose driving today is truly miles away (better) than the last time we drove together. A general pointer. Think a little more about where you stop when waiting. @Chaitanya D and @Brette would have been a lot less busy had this been done. Back to that traffic. The madness of the convoy that drove round and through our group not once, but twice, getting stuck multiple times was disappointing. Thanks to you all for the patience of waiting so we could exit safely. I have never seen quite so much traffic on the dunes as this morning. Having said that, we made it through lots of side sloping and dune crossing to reach Pink Rock just in time to see @Gaurav at play with his convoy. Just keep in mind, that was all of us, newbies, just a short time ago. See you soon in the sand.
  3. @Mukundan Nair you are #1 in the wait list. You can take the convoy position of @Edgar . Please Mukundan confirm you have seen this message and confirm your attendance. @Edgar thanks for the update
  4. Please note, there are two people on the waitlist for this drive @Mukundan Nair and @Febin Frederic. If there is any chance you are not going to be attending tomorrow morning, please advise by return so that your place can be taken by these waitlisted drivers. Please make sure your radio is set. As mentioned in the drive description this is a compressor only drive. It's a long and lonely drive to the closest gas station if for some reason you think that it will be OK to risk being on the drive without a working compressor. What to expect tomorrow morning? It will be dark when we start: Sounds a bit obvious, I know, but we hope to get moving before sunrise so there will be a little dark running. There are additional challenges in following in the dark. This is a fewbie drive: Get yourself mentally prepared for a drive that will direct through more challenging areas of soft sand, side sloping and dune crossing. This means we will look to increase the intensity depending on the perormance of the convoy. There will be some play time at Red Rock. After that we will be crossing back to Pink Rock. In between there are long range dune formations and bowls and slopes that will all need to be navigated. Skills need to be honed and improved: Newbie drives introduce skills like dune crossing (up and down), handling descents, sand conditions. WIth Fewbies we start to enjoy criss crossing, ridge riding and slide sloping to a new level. The balance between over confidence and enough confidence is quite delicate. By now you should be starting to understand the potential of your car - fewbie will help you understand your potential. It's a team game: The key objectives for any drive is to get everyone in and out of the sand safely and to have fun in between. That said, there's no shame in getting refusals or stucks, there's no competition to see who can go higher, harder of faster and it's important to remember that every time on the sand is a time to learn. We encourage all members to learn by doing, and the team will be supported by two members on the drive tomorrow. Please help them to help you out. Looking forward to seeing everyone bright and on time tomorrow morning. Any questions - please post them here. Anypone who cannot/is not turning up, please advise. Otherwise ... See you soon in the sand.
  5. @Jun Zamora @h1fny @Anish S @Edgar @Christian Andras @Islam Soliman @Yousef Alimadadi @Chaitanya D @David Ortells Thanks for signing up for the Fewbie drive from Big Red to Pink Rock. Myself and @Brette are looking forward to an exciting and challenging drive on Friday morning. The route from Big Red has multiple dune ranges where we will have some fun sweeping through the dunes. There will be challenges: lots of crests to clear, criss crossing, side slipping and climbing. Be prepared for the intensity of the drive to rise as the drive develops. Prepare mentally for you to have to be in total control of the vehicle and push yourself and the car further and harder than you have before. This is a Fewbie drive and as not everyone has driven Fewbie before (congrats to the new Fewbies), you need to be prepared for what's to come. As ever, @Brette and myself will be there to support you throughout the drive while expecting that you will self recover where possible. Make sure you have all the required equipment for your grade in Carnity. If you don't have the kit - you don't drive. No excuses. With priveleges comes greater responsibility. That means getting yourself prepared mentally and your vehicle properly for a drive. We will be giving more information, such as radio channel and convoy numbering later in the week after the drive closes. Feel free to ask any questions here. See you soon in the sand.
  6. Congrats @Neale Faulkner I look forward to driving with you some time soon. Enjoy the promo - the fun only starts to build from here.
  7. Congrats @Jeandre Bezuidenhout looking forward to seeing you in the sand soon.

  14. Bet you got excited reading that topic. However, this is a really sexy topic! I think that tyre chucks could be the answer to the inflation frustration at the end of a drive - so that instead of constantly screwing and unscrewing the compressor hose to the tyre valves we can just attach the hose with a simple lock. https://www.amazon.ae/FineGood-Inflator-Compressor-Accessories-Aluminum/dp/B07BVH6D36/ref=asc_df_B07BVH6D36/?tag=googleshopp09-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=398034079871&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1495557984569392781&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1000013&hvtargid=pla-531910361744&psc=1 Anyone know where I might find some of these locally? Amazon tells me that it takes around 3 weeks to deliver. No doubt there is somewhere local that sells this, because I cannot imagine I am the only 4x4 driver wishing that the compressor line could be attached quickly. Speedex and Ace do not carry them.
  15. We have at least three members with the Y62 that I can think of and all of them enjoy the power and comfort that it offers. They have all done modifications to the cars as well to deal with the inevitable damage if you do not. Definitely not too heavy for the dunes - unless you are talking about the cost on your pocket. If you've got it, why not flaunt it.

  18. The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi strategy deals out the Asian markets only for Mitsubishi. All support will stop outside of that narrow region. Time now to buy up as many Pajeros as possible and store them for the parts that will be needed to serve the market here for the coming years.
  19. David & Goliath It's been a while since I drove in an Absolute Newbie drive. It's amazing that 8 months ago, me and @Jeepie sat anxiously in out TJ waiting for the drive to start and having no idea what was to come. Yes, I have driven off road a lot in Europe, but mud and water are quite different to sand. Watching a new crop of potential leaders starting their carnity journey was amazing, from the first tentative meters of 'wow, this sand is really slippy' to getting over and through the first crest and then driving in the desert tracks for a few hours reminded me of the absolute elation I felt then that I had found my 'thing'. Eight months later I am planning and leading drives. Guys, each one of you has the potential to be the next Carnity leader and find yourself buzzing through the desert helping out with recoveries and stucks. @Ashok chaturvedi what a brilliant day to follow. You really did well. @mathewjo you need to understand that the car is a lot less scred then you. @Ashy you drive a veritable beast - if the electronics can be sorted, you'll find it less challenging. Four jeeps - OK I am a little biased. @Arun Mathew @muzamil hussain @Andrei @Kailas little jeeps can be simply the most fun out there. You probably noticed, ours is totally unmodified: so it ours can make it, so can yours! And then came the big boys. @Ajiesh George Kannankara taking a Y62 into the dunes - all that power well managed. @Jinesh Thomas I think you had a lot of fun once you realised that the FJ is really capable. @Sajit Modiyil like Freddie says, you need less pressure in the tires, then that Xterra (a Nismo - no less I noticed) will be crusing through the sand with ease. And then there's @Erwin van Helden The name translates from the original Dutch to 'from heroes' and frankly taking your H2 out and handling like you did, there's something in your blood because of that name. Yes, you gave me and the TJ our moment of pleasure in the David & Goliath battle to free you from the sand, but otherwise you drove faultlessly and I am waiting for your return to see more of what that monster can do. Have a lovely week. See you soon in the sand.
