  1. dear @Asif Hussain, since this will be my first Evening Drive, just want to request a 10-mins break at 4:30pm or 5pm for prayer time to be added to the planned route. Thank you 😊
  2. *This may be Toyota-specific, but the general rule may also apply to other vehicles... So in a recent major maintenance (timing belt, water pump, etc...), my mechanic got creative and fixed all the warning lights, like in Photo #1 (only seatbelt warning light on) And so I panicked cos I like it with the ABS + VSC OFF + VSC TRAC warning lights on, since this car is only for off-roading 😅 After reading some stuff online and checking the Toyota Repair Manual, I found out if the Wheel Sensor cable is disconnected, then ABS will not function, VSC Active Traction Control will not function and also VSC Skid Control will not function. After tracing from the manual diagram, I found the wheel sensor marked with Gray Connector in Photo #2. I used a Cable Tie to act as a cable holder so the cable does not fall off during offroad times, and after offroading, I usually plug the cable back cos I need those safety features (ABS & Skid Control) in the highway 😄 So once the Wheel Sensor cable is off, you will get all the warning lights like in Photo #3. This is an alternative method rather than plucking the fuses one-by-one for ABS and for VSC. One cable to turn them all off! Cheers, Z.
  3. convoy starts with XTerra... ends with XTerrra... and in-betweens lots of Pajeros 😁 See you guys tomorrow inshAllah
  4. bro @Karthikeyan Govindarajan , how do you keep count of the no. of drives? Is there a hidden feature in our Profile Page that shows the "drive count" or do you just keep it manually 😅 ? I've lost track of count especially after I changed car from Patrol to Cruiser 😁
  5. Thanks @Srikumar , understood, i'll take my chances and still join your drive 😄 worst -case I will do Friday prayer in Sweihan, no worries 😊
  6. hi @Srikumar , the calendar mentions until 10:30am 👍 Just want to check if this will be a hard stop? As I need to be home by 12:15noon 😁
  7. Thanks @Rahimdad! 70psi sounds the opposite of deflated 12psi we're used to 😅 When you say 2 wheels, you mean offroad motorbikes ? 😲
  8. Thanks @Gaurav, always insightful ☺️ , I'll stick to my Geolandar AT G015 then 😁
  9. Hi folks, So I'm intrigued by these pics: #1 Y62 w/ Sand Tyres, #2 Sand Tyre description, #3 Malone Sand Tyres ad, "best choice for desert safari". Anyone has experience with them? Are they better than All-Terrain (A/T) offroad tyres by a large margin (really really float on sand)? Cheers, Z.
  10. Hi @Pacific , my friend who drives Jeep said he went to the dealer Western Motors and buy the "ABS Kill Switch" but installed it with his regular mechanic. You can also pay the dealer to install it, albeit I think this will be more expensive than an independent mechanic with skills in car electronics & circuits wizardry 🙂
  11. So i've done most of the well-known maintenance stuff: timing belt, water pump, radiator, oils, brake pads, etc. However since the car has 200,000 miles, I was worried about transmission and gears. Especially since I used to have a Pajero (also second-hand) and for some reason I couldn't shift to D and had to use 2 to complete my drive and exit some years ago. So I search for Specialized Transmission Garages, and there were only 4 of them on Google Maps for Abu Dhabi. Drove the car to the one with good reviews and ask to check a) 4WD works in all gear levels, including diff-lock combination and b) Inspect Drive Shaft. Results? See 2 pics below, these are from the front right & left axles. Suffice to say I'm glad I did a transmission check before Friday's drive in Khatim 😁
  12. Hi @Rahimdad i got the Yoko Geolandar as my first mod. @Asif Hussain bhai told me I can go to 12psi and it felt smoother surfing on sand 😊
  13. As an update, got my car back after 1-3 were done. Car felt more responsive, but it could be "feeling better after doctor visit" syndrome 😅 Will test it this weekend on the sand, let's see! PS: surprised how still clean the Throttle Body is IMG_0109.MP4
  14. i'm sad with @Gaurav's comment that I may need to part with this LC when I reach Expert Level (or Intermediate maybe?), but was comforted by @Frederic's comment that this LC is great for family camping, so I might stay with this LC for more years before parting with it... no rush to reach Expert Level with SWB yet 😊
  15. Hi all, I feel like my old 2002 LC100 that has stocked up 200,000 miles (320,000 kms) is not accelerating as much as I want to and seems to have "not enough power" when going uphill. I know cos I've floored my gas pedal to the bottom, but the V8 just isn't fast in responding. I've been reading quite a bit on this issue on iH8Mud and this page from an Auto Service . I've also asked in Land Cruiser forums in FB, and basically has a list of parts to replace, obviously won't do them in one-shot (don't have infinite money yet 😁), so I've ranked them according to my sense of urgency below: Replace Fuel Pump. Based on iH8Mudder that said "Immediately mine ran better and with the age of my engine it made sense" Replace Fuel Filter. Cos might as well since I'm replacing the Pump... The engine needs good supply of gasoline in order to produce that power. Clean Throttle Body, cos cleaning should not be expensive. Check Exhaust issue: here I'm not sure what to check. Can anyone shed some light if they previously found exhaust issues to be the cause of engine power loss? Problem is the Catalytic Converter costs US$ 2,000 on Parts.Toyota.Com ! Replace Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor and Oxygen Sensor , since Combustion Engine works by mixing Fuel & Air, so need the right amount of air to properly mix and produce power. Replace Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), this controls the Throttle Body so need to ensure properly giving correct readings. I'm doing #1-3 now, so the question is: for those who have replaced Fuel Pump & Fuel Filter & Clean Body Throttle, did you guys notice a difference after doing them? Here are 2 videos of my mechanic replacing the Fuel Pump & Filter: Fuel Pump Replaced.mp4 Old_Fuel_Filter_Dirty.mp4
  16. @Rahimdad haha I used to get the latest ThinkPad laptops every 2years but i managed to stop that now, wifey said similar comment along your line, "you're gullible to tech ads", "why do u need the latest & greatest, it won't improve your coding much" 😂😂😂 That's why in yesterday's drive, when I saw Asif did the exact same thing without crawl control, I'm now (more) convinced that this can be done without computers too 😁 And now I want to intentionally get stuck and "crawl manually" 😅
  17. As someone in the IT field, I'm always fascinated with technology. And so when I saw the video below I was initially hunting for a second-hand LC with Crawl Control. But in yesterday's 5th Feb Khatim drive, I watched @Asif Hussain bhai doing this with my 2002 LC100 😃 I almost gave up and think that now I need to get towed, but seeing him patiently turning left-right and doing it with an old Cruiser makes me want to intentionally get stuck again and try doing this Manual Crawl Control 😅 . I'm sold now, there's no need to get the latest SUV for offroading, since anyways computers, software and AI learn from tried & tested manual human techniques 😁
  18. Folks, Abu Dhabi is foggy this morning. I suggest drive slow and late is better than rushing it...
  19. Thanks @Mohamed Seidam for your tips. Luckily for me, the ABS, VSC TRAC and VSC OFF warning lights are always on when I start the car, so this LC is permanently for offroad 😂😂😂
  20. awesome reply @Gaurav as usual... agree that Lift now should be last on my list cos it only makes sense if it's going to be a long-term relationship with this LC100. Now i' totally convinced to go with Yoko Geolandar 👍 For the drive on 29-Jan may not be able to make it, wifey confirmed to go camping with friends on Thu 😅
  21. Thanks bro @Ahab Shamaa , good info on bigger tires require more horsepower! Hmm yes I forgot that we do a lot of downhills, so bash plates are important. 8mm minimum, ok I'll note that. I guess changing front bumpers too, but seeing this is a 2002 Land Cruiser, I can live with "broken" bumpers for a while until some body works is needed 😂 For Pedal Commander, is that the responsiveness of kicking the throttle? How is it different compared to Chip Tuning? I've heard chip tuning can increase your horsepower & torque and turn Throttle Response Rate Increase... Thanks for another "no-need-Methods-wheels" advice, I think I'm not excited about beadlocks anymore 😄
  22. Thanks @Rahimdad, the plan was not to do ABCD in one shot, but one mod every 2 months (to feel before & after mod + of course saving up for the next mod). Wow 2 pop-outs in 12yrs? Ok cancel the beadlocks then, I think I'm watching too many Jeep instagrams 😅. What do you think about the tires tho? Heavy tires might sink into sand, that's why people go to 10psi. Geolandar ppl say is not heavy, but not sure why the LandCruiser club on FB is bashing Yoko and recommending Toyo instead. Why lift kit? Hmm yeah I just assume higher ground clearance equals less chance of stuck since sand will not easily touch the chassis. But maybe it's better rock-crawling and less effective for sand? Definitely will join the drives again... just got the LC100 V8 yesterday so i missed signing up for @Gaurav's Sweihan, next time then 🙂
  23. Excited today cos I just renewed my Carnity Subscription and got a sweet deal on an LC-100 V8 😁 InshAllah I will join next Carnity drives (if they're in Abu Dhabi), and so with an old car, it's time to turn this off-roading thing into a hobby (hobby = something you'll spend monthly on 🤣 ) To all the seniors who've modded their cars, what do you think the order should be? (no such thing as 100% right order, so preference opinions are fine) For the list below, my order of preference is ABCD. If you think I should do differently, please advise why, so it'll add to my learning 🙏 A. Change tires. After extensive research (reading hours until midnight), it seems my LC-100 can fit 285/75x16 without rubbing. Options are: Kumho Road Venture AT51 (what https://www.pitstoparabia.com/ offers if I type 285/75x16). These tires will give extra 1" lift without suspension kit. Stay with stock size 275/70x16 which means I can go for Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 or BFGoodrich T/A KO2 (premium! 😭) B. Lift 1.5", cos anything more would require diff-drop. If I opt for the Kumho 285/75x16, maybe it will be total 2.5" lift achievement ? C. Beadlock wheels Beadlock technology (or BeadGrip if using Method wheels) supposedly hug your tires tighter to prevent tyre pop-out. Considering I've experienced a rollover with popped-up tires (not sure if the tires popped during the flip or before the flip), maybe this is a safe investment? My only problem is my lack of knowledge in this department cos the stock wheel spec is 8Jx16 ET60, which means 16" diameter rim, 8" width rim with 60mm offset. I can see beadlock wheels in 16x8 spec, but most offset is 30mm instead of 60mm, so not sure if it fits? D. Bash plates to protect the underbody... Anything else to add to the list that is important as a first series of mods? Thanks in advance folks...
  24. Thanks @Gaurav , this is some awesome Fatherly advice there! Now that I think of it, yes, I had the option of skipping the top crest by going sideways and continue following from below. But why did I kept on following the convoy?!?!?!? Haha, strange how Ego is undetected within oneself, but easily pointed out by (usually a more senior) person with experience. This is a very good lesson learned indeed, thank you again Gaurav Ji!
