  1. My LandCruiser has a Pentium4 processor in its ECU, as such just like we monitor everything that's automated by computers, I want to collect what sort of parameters are good both for onroad & offroad driving. I'll start with below, mainly for offroading: 1. Vehicle Speed: seems redundant cos we have speedometer, but mine is in Miles per Hour, so having KM/h is important to avoid speed cameras 😂 Additionally any minute drop in speed means i'm losing power for momentum. 2. Gear Actual: unfortunately my OBD dongle doesn't connect to the transmission ECU so I can't get the transmission temperature to check for overheating. But at least I know constant shifting of gears will overwork my transmission 😁. A bit moot cos I drive in Manual nowadays, but when the terrain is flat I do switch it back to D and let it cruise on sand. 3. Engine Load: it should be up & down, something that continuously goes up to 100% means we are maximizing our engine power and may lead to engine overheating which is why the next value is Engine Temp 😃 4. Engine Coolant Temp: a bit redundant as we have it on cluster panel, but at least we know if it reaches 100 Celsius 😁 5. Throttle Position: sometimes you floor it, but it doesn't show 100, so things to check: throttle cable if not drive-by-wire, or throttle sensor for newer cars with pedal-by-wire. Sometimes it may even mean too thick carpet that prevents full pedal being pushed all the way down 😁
  2. Gaia Track based on the trip, for those who want to repeat it again 😁 >> https://www.gaiagps.com/public/SuCAtpndeXdYeTAShzkicOul
  3. Great lead by Dr @Chaitanya D, all those weekend drives for the past year really shaped your experience & leadership 👍🏻 Paired with awesome assist by @Craig Finlayson, we were definitely in safe hands today 💪🏻 Everyone did well in self-recovery too, I greatly enjoyed today's drive 😊
  4. cc @Warren Flay token to remember for the Gajero 😊
  5. The previous drive to Bu Tais I left home 4am thinking I have ample time to reach by 6am. Then halfway through around 5am, fog settles in and I have to drive below 80km/h to prevent fines (speed cameras automatically adjust to 80 if fog is detected). I reached around 6:15-6:20am but was surprised people were there before me with tyres deflated. Moral of the story: I should have left at 3am, don't assume no fog 😅 Even if we arrive too early, we can make use of the time to sleep and the Marshall will knock your window to wake you up when it's time 😄
  6. hi @Warren Flay kindly refer to ADMediaOffice screenshot on this page >> https://www.instagram.com/p/CKqh0YBBBh8/?igshid=ce2jn0ytcmqk The footnote says u don't need test to enter Abu Dhabi, but the E icon is green with outer yellow. Not sure if this is the same icon you have on your Al Hosn.
  7. @Lakshmi Narasimhan you don't need to wait for second dose, you can do DPI (blood test) in exit after LegoLand. The trick is you have to alternate DPI-then-PCR for your second trip to Abu Dhabi. You can't do DPI-then-DPI again.
  8. Well what a coincidence, just yesterday we talked about catching up, and it seems I'll see you lead this Friday bro @Chaitanya D 👋 Lookin forward to the drive ☺️
  9. If this happens after _every_ drive, sounds like something(s) might be loose. Get under your car with those camping headlight strapped on the head and inspect: Tie rods still straight or bent? 10. Neat, you got a fridge 😄 I think new rules on this forum is not to recommend any garage, so feel free to WhatsApp me on 056-7242156, and I'll text you back where I got them from and the contact person 😊
  11. Ah lucky for you @Wadepat2, I'm stuck with unused features like Heaters. Sometimes I prank my passenger by pressing the heater button so their seats get so hot they think they're sitting on an oven 😁 Here are my front recovery points (2 rated @ 4.75t shackle each) and rear recovery point (Hitch Receiver with D-Ring so it can fit a soft shackle):
  12. Welcome @Wadepat2 , it seems we have the same LC100: Black, US-import V8 4.7L 😁 Since I got it on the cheap, I spent some dough "baselining" the car (the 90K miles Toyota recommended routine: timing belt, tensioner, pulley, etc.). First thing to get it desert-ready was replace the stock tyres with Yokohama Geolandar 275/70/R16 (keep it OEM specs so speedometer will be correct to prevent fines from overdriving 😂 ). Got some windfall, so went crazy and did 2" lift. Well, I still got stuck 😅, so it didn't help except boost confidence level by +10 points. Anyways, welcome fellow LC 100, let me know if you have questions regarding our "iron-block" + "non-interference" V8 engines 😊
  13. Thanks everyone. @Chaitanya D I remember we both used to be the ones in Patrols, definitely will catch up with you and others as soon as I have E status in my Al-Hosn app (did 2 vaccines already) - this will help me move easier between Abu Dhabi & Dubai 😊 Would love to see you lead and learn from you 🤙
  14. This video is dedicated to the 7 Camaraderie of Bu Tais @Farouq Owdeh @Taufique Surve @Hasan Wahlan @Karthikeyan Govindarajan @xavier @Mus_hus78. Remember what HeadMaster @Asif Hussain says: Follow the track 😂😂😂
  15. With the last Newbie (me!) being promoted to Fewbie, I think this drive will turn to an upgraded Fewbie level 😅 @Karthikeyan Govindarajan the LCs are now in the middle, Strong Center Mid-Fielders 💪 @Hasan Wahlan bro I drove 10 psi last week, just a heads-up since you'll be after me... If you see the track messed up, it's not me cos my tyres are flat 😂
  16. Transmission Cooler seems to be on the list for high-temp long-hours summer driving 😊
  17. Armada is American version of Y62, so as someone who had crashed into Armada (longgggg time back) and owner of Y62, I can say Armada is quite capable and will protect you in the desert (I survived a rollover). However, maneuverability is not that great when going for more technical dunes, due to the size and angles... unless you're ok with losing front & rear bumpers after serious offroading 😂 But great as family car, we once visited all Emirates in 1 day in our Y62 and loved it.
  18. This is our Track btw in case anyone wants to repeat it 😁 https://www.gaiagps.com/public/i3Rz8UtyrB9TE6XMewDFUmdp
  19. Thanks @Barry @Lawrence_Chehimi, good analysis, so I can jump again without fear of losing another axle 😂
  20. thanks @Gaurav , that's what I thought too, especially I still need the side steps as a footing hold while mounting my flag on the center-left of the roof rack 😅
  21. ARB Jack with the optional ground stand looks usable but highly expensive, I find this YouTube video helpful to assess different kinds of Jacks >>
