  1. Ace sells soft shackles, as well as kinetic rope. Adventure shop at Times Square also has them.
  2. Agree - great drive with about 500 ridges and criss-crossing. Thanks @Ale Vallecchi and @Javier M for the winching!
  3. @Ale Vallecchi just a head’s up: I found my one tyre completely deflated today Will inflate and check tomorrow morning - if issue, I will not pitch up but will fix during the day. Hopefully all good tomorrow morning.
  4. Also check if he has low-profile tyres, as these cannot be deflated sufficiently to tackle dunes safely without risk of multiple pop-outs.
  5. Great drive @Emmanuel, again to a few previously unexplored dunes. It was a great drive in a convoy that kept the pace up all the time. Thanks for allowing me a short taste of leading in an easy part - it certainly brought much more appreciation for the leaders that lead convoys every weekend across multiple sandy trails!! Well done to everybody!
  6. It’s the meeting point in the text that you quoted mate? Just click on it and Google Maps is your friend.
  7. Thanks for leading a record drive today @Ale Vallecchi (I think?). Ultimately over 91 km over more than 6 hours!!! Very relaxing drive, with the usual patches of terribly soft powdery sand. One longish recovery when a baseplate bended down, and try as we might we could neither remove it, nor bend it back up again. These stucks happened to all of us before, and certainly no shame in that hellish soft bowl. I thought everybody did well, with shoutouts to fellow Intermediates @Tbone and @Najeeb Mohammed for their recovery efforts.
  8. @Srikumar, I would have loved to do this drive, but I am currently on a morning drive and my left-hand shocks are making a lot of noise. So reluctantly I will skip this afternoon’s drive and get the shocks checked out in the week.
  9. Agree - for scenario 2 and 3 gravity will be your recovery assistant, but aim is to go down straight. Scenario 1: I guess preference will be forward, with some digging to allow you to use gravity. Using a rope I think will be tricky, giving the sudden movement? Just my 5c.
  10. Well done @Chaitanya D - well-deserved and enjoy the new rank.
  11. Thanks for planning and leading this drive @Emmanuel - what an opportunity to visit a rather unexplored part of the desert. While the sand was extremely unforgiving, I was glad that you navigated an alternative route for us to reach the top of one of the larger dune formations - the view was fantastic!! Again a lot of learning opportunity for me - thanks to @Colin Jordan, @Brette and @Xaf for handling the recoveries (despite the hunger 😀).
