  1. Dear @Rahimdad thanks for the kind words. Luckily everything ended up just fine, even though it sounds I missed a great ride at Solar Park, which makes me even more eager to catch up with the next one!
  2. Dear @Emmanuel, due to a sudden family emergency I am unfortunately forced to cancel my RSPV at the last minute. I hope someone can jump in a the last second. My apologies, Lorenzo
  3. Dear all, I was eventually able to find the time to edit a short video of our ride. Don't miss the play ground at 3'00" and the final descent from Fossil Rock!
  4. Dear @Gaurav, this is great news!!! Thank you @Rahimdad, @Srikumar and @Wrangeld for having a close look at my driving skills. The off-road gear for fewbies is all set and stored in the trunk.. I am ready for my first fewbie drive!!
  5. Dear @Rahimdad, thanks for the positive feedback, I really appreciate it. I must say I have developed a real passion for desert rides. I keep on thinking how fool I was in the last 13 years in Dubai for not having tried any sooner, now I can't wait until the next ride!!
  6. Dear @Rahimdad, with reference to the above suggestion by @Gaurav, considering that today's drive at Fossil Rock was my 12th overall ride since I started in Feb '20 (and I went again to Pink Rock this afternoon, so I have now a total of 13 drives), would you consider promoting me to Fewbie even if I did only 2 rides with Carnity (both under your lead - the 1st time with Carnity was my absolute 2nd desert drive) so far?
  7. Dear @Wrangeld and @Srikumar thank you very much for your help in fixing my pop-out. I particularly appreciated your extremely careful approach towards health & safety, constantly reminding not to take risks while the car was lifted, while digging under the wheel and while handling the tire during inflation. Of course thanks also to @Rahimdad for leading the convoy and taking us to the play area, which was indeed quite fun. The view from fossil rock was beautiful (next time I'll take the drone!) and the descent indeed quite an interesting new experience in 4L 1st gear. I'm attaching our route today. For those who fancy how I got it, I used Pathaway on my mobile. I find it pretty cool: total distance 17.7km, 3h 7min total ride time (including stops).
  8. HI @Frederic thanks for noticing it. I hand't realized I hadn't canceled already, given that I prefer the morning one. I have changed my RSVP so someone else can join. @bunty_and_pops FYI I just canceled from the Tawi Nazwa afternoon Fewbie Drive
  9. Hi @Gaurav, I am a Newbie according to Carnity criteria, as I joined the Club in March, even though I have accumulated 11 rides with other groups and friends. Would it be possible to be placed in a waiting list for this ride, in case anyone drops out? Thanks, Lorenzo
  10. HI @Srikumar, can I be placed in a wait list for this ride in case anyone drops out. Thanks, Lorenzo
  11. HI @Gaurav, can I be placed in a wait list for this ride in case anyone drops out? Thx, Lorenzo
  12. Dear @Rahimdad, yes I'm indeed a licensed commercial drone pilot (i.e. I can fly even big/heavy drones for professional use, mostly in construction projects). But I fly a lot as a hobby and if, in one of the next rides, we could plan for it in advance, we could do some more serious drone shootings for everyone's fun, which I would gladly have Carnity brand and use for promotional purposes. We could choose a nice short track (not more than 300-400m - max 20', it won't take more) with some interesting spots and do some car tracking (i.e. I can shoot drone videos "chasing" or flying around each single car (speeds up to 65km/h can be managed) and doing some other fun stuff which can be quite interesting to watch also if one is curious to see his own driving style and manouvers. Not to mention low altitude landscape shootings which would give a completely different perspective of the desert.. Check out an example of car tracking (I was just testing a new drone feature, so no ambitious driving): And check some landscape low altitude flight (approx. 30 to 50m, again this was just a test, no ambition on the quality of the images): Keep it in mind for the next rides!
  13. Dear @Rahimdad and @Wrangeld, It was a wonderful first ride with Carnity, a bit surreal because of the social distancing, but I loved every minute of the company and the lanscape. And the driving, above all! Have a look at my video from yesterday here (next time I'll make sure my windscreen is clean...) and don't miss the drone shot at 1'50"!! Thank you all, and see you at the next ride. Lorenzo
  14. Nissan Patrol 2020 V8 Prior experience (fewbie / 3 past drives) Towpoints are ok / car fully equipped (skid plates, flag, radio, compressor, deflator, towing rope, shackles) Totally agree!
