Dear friends hello and welcome to "Sweihan Drives" This will be my first drive leading in Sweihan desert which will continue in the coming weeks inshallah hence i named it "Sweihan Drives" exploring most of it before we head further south reaching Al Ain , waqan , and another areas and who knows we might end up reaching the yellow truck , Liwa and empty Quarter! Regarding this one i preferred to start with an area i have visited last year. we will start from E16 Al Taf Road heading West with the sun rising behind us, gently riding the first dunes to get acquainted with the landscape. After the initial warm up we will start tackling the big dunes that make Sweihan such a fantastic off-roading place, enjoying all the climbs, the crests, the ridges and - above all - the large bowls it offers, moving a series of high and complex dunes in an exciting sequence of climbs and rides around some of the biggest and deepest bowls to be seen around before completing our loop back to E16. Please make sure your vehicles are in perfect shape ( fluids, lubes, breaks, tires and the spare including the tool to replace it , recovery tow points ... etc ) as its a demanding terrain and the toll on your cars are going to be tremendous while tackling especially the huge bowls. I have heard stories of such incidents and personally I have seen this ( witnessed it ) happened in front of my eyes to the dearest person to me in the past many years back. They moved on and made it an additional big step to jump forward and continue and inshallah I am sure you will do . @Fabien Monleau well done and thank you for the true spirit of support which only comes out in the hardest moments when most needed. same goes for @Benjamin Very much appreciated your standing by till the front door of Murad 🙏 @Brette you have nerves of steel and a strong heart . Drive Report What a wonderful morning today to start with , non foggy cool breezy golden hour and an almost ready convoy to move by the time i arrived to the meeting point and it was just 05:45 am. This showed the passion and enthusiasm you brought along and reflected later in the drive till the end. Very much appreciated 🙏. After greeting , checking and briefing each one was ready to move to what turned out to be just one of my best enjoyable lovely drives lately. Starting slowly for every one to get accustomed with his vehicle on the sand and along the way to the first set of the long range dunes we took the track connecting the three individual lakes together. Now being there on the flat facing the first tall enough dune we lined up to practice safely the low to medium height dune side sloping and then how to cross the dune in straight up/down fashion. First it was done one by one then we continued to do it while the whole convoy in motion. Guys you were truly impressive. By then you caught the rhythm so the drive continued till we had our first proper break at Riche’s bar. The convoy good response encouraged us to go more further to get up to the crescent lake boundary and even beyond crossing the cycle track safely more further where we could have a closer look at the rock formation peculiar to this area from Qudra desert. From that point and back to the end was our way back with slightly faster pace and we got the chance to practice more what we have learned earlier and it was just epic. Throughout the whole drive we encountered couple of refusals and crests which is part of the game and learning we all did together. learning points to remember speed and momentum are not synonyms. The first will fly you off the ridge if fast or get you crested if slow where the later will carry you no matter your vehicle weight is if appropriate ✔️ deflation is the king of off-roading especially on sand .
