  1. Dear all Need advice about installing a cold air intake system on my FJ. Some believe that it adds HP, smoother engine better sound while say others it can damage engine. Is it really worth the cost of AED 2500/-?
  2. @M.Seidam @varunmehndiratta Absolutly doctor .. there are two parts the upper holder and lower which can be mounted on any car rack etc. some modification to the lower can be done with some garage.
  3. @varunmehndiratta @M.Seidam Buy the whole kit but you must have a roof rack of sort to mount it.
  4. I tried in Sharjah to find a even a half an engine but failed. so decided to go with 'Tejari parts' it still will cost over 6000. I was offered aed 2000 to buy as it is but was heart broken so went for the repair.
  5. Thanks a lot I am going for a rebuild with non genuine or genuine copy parts.
  6. My Pajero 3.8 V6 2006 Model, needs a costly engine overhaul and some parts may not be available. Can anyone recommend a place I can find a half engine. I dont wish to scrap the car. The engine got damaged when someone in my staff drove it with near no oil. Thanks Ashok
  7. I am terribly sorry.. may need to withdraw from tomorrow drive as not feeling so well. So Sorry for last minute message.
  8. Hope the weather holds.. it is cool and cloudy. Will come with Karak Tea and biscuits for all.
  9. Buy the middle 8 pcs kit it should contain all the pieces... it is simply to follow. I did it myself and issue then come to my place and I will do it for you
  10. Thanks for the report @varunmehndiratta @Gaurav I think this was one of safest drive I could imagine in Liwa. Except few stucks there was no untold instance and near all drivers self recovered. I was quite surprised that two nissan petrol are turning out be heros of sand and climbs and now feel guilty of selling my new top of line NP replacing it with FJ. I did at times try practice using different gear combination for the sidie and tall climbs. The first attempt was based on brute speed and second on low gears for the additional power. It was always the second attempt which made me go higher. Ensuring there is not too much jolt on the engine upper frame with the crack, I was careful. The best experience was to have solo night in my tent. Around 3 AM the temperature dropped to 11 C and needed to tuck in under an extra (last minute pick) blanket. The next gadget I must buy is a cannister stove to prepare some hot tea. The whole day during the drive I was looking for Karak Chai tea stand appearing anywhere...by chance. Gaurav had detoured return, post yellow truck with consensus of all decided the return trip to be in opposite direction of the desert entry. Which added another 150 Kms to my return. I also had to attend my Niece anniversary.. so I drove over 400 kms to reach Dubai by 9.30 pm on reaching went straight to the hotel venue. Could not change clothes or bath.. I must been the (best??) dressed unshaven un bathed stinking among all the suites and booted party guest. Even the hotel staff wondered if I have landed in a wrong party. My wife a bit crossed did spray half a bottle of perfume on me as my relatives and friend as norm were giving me the hugs. All in all.. I thank everyone in the convoy for the enjoyable drive and could not have missed the drive created specially for us, who could not complete the same a fortnight back.
  11. I am intending to camp last time I found Tila hotel very cheap like Aed 501. but now the same hotel is over 1600 for a night.
  12. Just kidding.... Eventually will have to reinforce the frame if I attempt IM from these clubs. Altogather, been given an estimate of AED 28,000 with full suspension system, front metal bumper and a winch. Cant affoard this kind of money.. with my other two hobbies and a family still...
  13. @Hisham Masaad @Niki@lawrence_chehimi Thank you all for your concern very sweet of you. Yes I have been now told to reinforce the shell with steel plates. Can do it now as the car has done only 14000 Kms and not even completed 2nd Free service also the warranty will go for a toss.. And no 500Kms per hour.. asked modifier garage if they can install a helicopter rotar on top my FJ or a wind sail..maybe.
  14. Dear Gaurav ji, I went last weekend on a drive and hit a bump which my shocks did not handle well there is crack in upper engine frame and the driver side door is hitting the left side yellow frame cover when opening and closing. The car is in the garage as as the upper engine chaises frame needs to be pulled re welded and set etc. If my car isnt returned by Wednesday I may also very very sadly withdraw.
  15. Thanks for your response...there another school that says that it absolutely does nothing to the FJ gear box as long as you keep shifting gear 4 and 3 on a 4 Low amd use for short burst. I have used it for short climb and it does wonders to the power. I would love to invite more comments there is another club which encourages this.
  16. Apparently there are two school of thoughts.. one encourage driving in 4 L with 4/3 gear while the official version is to avoid. I would like to Offroader driving FJs to share their opinion on this.
  17. I am really enjoying the narration of the incident. Everyone engaged in the recovery were at their best yet a lot of good time got consumed. Were only 40 minutes of the drive possible. My take away learning.. 1.There is one thing to add in everyone's kit is a sheer (scissor) to cut the seat belt strap and it should anchored at a hand reach of the driver. Paola simply could cut himself loose early and was badly wedged at the angle. He was also in a shock when the recovery manoeuvre placed him in the position. It was a slow motion gentle roll later. I did tried several times to convince Shaaz sir to place a rope on Paola roof carrier to stop the roll. In our last visit to Liwa.. @Ahab Shamaa landed up in a similar situation when he went in for the rescue of another car and Rahimdad sir used on car to simply tie a rope on the roof carrier with the risk that it may ripe it apart but it worked to give the slight gravity stability. 2. Without any phone connection it was difficult to locate and rely the GPS coordinates to Gaurav. I struggled but finally we were able to communicate the same to him. I think having a Garmin would been useful. 3. Finally, another hour late afternoon was lost trying to pull Paola car 20 meters uphill. Once they could start his engine there was loud and ugly knocking sound coming from Engine, cause not known, maybe the garage will report. Yet my personal opinion would have been to let Paulo drive the 20 meters with some risk but worth it to save time. I have all my appreciation for Gaurav sir as he worked tirelessly with great patience high precision recovery maneuver from uprighting the car on the slop and then bringing it down in a very very control way.
  18. @PaoloMaraziti thanks for the invite.. first let us know how bad your engine got knocked, I mean the damage.
