We will start from the shop areas and make our way around in a loop ending at the shops. We intend to cover 7 large dune formations ( except super bowl - iftaar bowl) and find best tracks for fewbies. The area has been recently occupied by O&G activities and hence be prepared for reroutes and difficult maneuvers. Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face mask, rubber gloves, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 9 AM P.S. I would beg to differ on this @Lawrence_Chehimi having diff locks have got me out of sticky situations even when in convoy! For the times when I’ve got out alone for rescuing, having a diff locks always proved beneficial. I am not sure about how much costly the aftermarket’s ones are but it’s always better to have a car with one!

Dear Dune Surfers, This drive is Part 2 of 3 Skill Drive Series in which we would be focusing on the skill of Crossing the dunes as a "Criss Cross" and straight up - Down! Part 1 - Ridge Rider Republic – Al Qudra – 21 May 2022 - Completed! Part 2 - Criss Cross Country – Faqa - 28th May 2022 Part 3 - Technical Terrain Transit - Will be posted in coming weeks The drives are for Fewbie Plus and above only as we believe at this level you are well aware of your car, your driving style in sync with your car for these drives to learn, challenge and improve albeit safely. Please watch out for the subsequent parts in coming weeks and join in as per your availability. For Part 2 we will be driving in the long range dunes as much as possible and finding paths to go over them. We will be taking the longer route from Faqa towards Qudra, which means we will be driving around Solar park and some technical patches in safest way possible. Drive Time is expected to be 3 hours . Make sure you come with a full tank, Car in good conditions, recovery gear for this level (Radio, Flag, Deflator, Compressor, Kinetic rope and Soft shackles). Recovery points should be checked and in good conditions. It is preferable for the cars to have a front bash plate (6mm or more) to keep the radiator protected, if not it is at your own risk to join. Drive Report: The week leading up to this drive was a hectic one for me and i was very much looking forward to have a nice time and the drive turned up Action packed! Having dealt with a Flat tire i reached the meting point at 5.50 and found the convoy deflated and ready! Thankyou all for waiting:) We had a quick briefing and then headed out towards the dunes just behind the " Three Trees" near the solar park dirt track. Attacking every possible ridge , from hard side, slip side we made our way towards Lisaili fort. The dunes were occasionally very soft on the top and with a long convoy meant soup sand for the second half of the convoy. Brilliantly driven by the whole convoy. You did quite well @Joseph Raju for your first Second lead. well done!. The only feedback i have is to practice maintaining a distance from the lead where you have visibility of the track taken but safe enough to stop when you see the lead struggling on a patch or asking to reroute to avoid any nasty dune. While going over a ridge , expecting the unexpected, i came across a cutaway on the dune topography which quickly became unavoidable. having stopped on the slope and asking Joseph to reroute the whole convoy, i tried my best to navigate the pocket and ended up tilting my car with passenger side front wheel high up in the air. The only thing holding me from having a Sideways flip was the sand sidewall on my driver front wheel. Quick thinking and support from @Mario Cornejo, we added some" weight" to the passenger side and reversed the car out to bring all wheels to ground. However, while getting out of the pocket, i ended up having a pop out which required a multiple dual rope tugs from Mario which was coordinated by @Gok Krish and @Charbel. Team effort and persistence finally paid off when we got the car out on the flat and fixed the popout. Having lost quite a bit of time, we continued our journey finding ridges to practice our skills. We had a some refusals and stucks ( same place twice by same car!!) requiring shoveling and tugs. This was a good learning opportunity and i believe we all learned something new about ourselves and our cars! we made our way to the exit at 9 am ad the sun really started to take its toll and were out on the dirt track at 9.16 AM.
