  1. I drive my FJ on 4H, i had to engage the 4L only for self recovery and while declining a steep ramp for engine break. But 4H is doing just fine all the time at least for me, sometimes i keep a low gear on 4H when i need to climb up tall steep ramp but i keep it always on the High didn't need to go to 4L for high climb yet. On the other hand someone kept driving on 4L because he didn't want to get stuck at the end the transmission overheated and broke in the middle of the desert but just to note it was a fast drive.
  2. Amazing to all of the participants and especially the leads, that seems to be quite an event, hopefully will be able to join in next time. It will be good to have some lessons learned and some hands on experience gained by all of the participating teams to be shared with everyone, i assume it was quite an experience. And for Carnity team, thanks for arranging such events making it really interesting and joyful to be part of such group.
  3. i agree the FJ is a great off road car, but it has relatively small trunk capacity so if you are planning to go overlanding or few days camping with passengers in the back seat you will have a bit of a trouble to fit all what you need inside, especially if you are including the recovery gear, compressor ...etc. i had to install a roof rack which adds extra weight and compromises slightly the centre of gravity in addition to air noise while speeding on the road. i think the price range is exaugurated , i got mine little more than a year ago 2012 model xtreme edition with 45K, and it was really in good condition, i doubt the prices had gone that high since then. on that topic, a friend of mine wanted to by a wrangler, started looking at dubizzle but he found very limited options, of all the cars. where do we search for used cars nowadays?
  4. Revisiting this topic from a different angle. Do we have to cover light bar during driving in the city? Is there specific Emirates that would fine uncovered light bars? If so what would the fine be in such case?
  5. Sorry @Chaitanya D somthing came up and i have to drop, please give my post to the next inline.
  6. Hi @Chaitanya D Can you add me to the waiting list of this drive? Thanks
  7. Thanks a lot @Gaurav for this lovely day, it was really needed for the families, hope we do that more often.
  8. That is the normal stove u will find its gas can everywhere, i bought the Coleman double stove from ACE and it has a very specific gas cartridge that it is not anywhere in the UAE i had to return it and got the normal one
  9. Congrats @Islam Soliman Very well deserved, follow you on the sand soon.
  10. Thanks @Mehmet Volga, @Veedooshee and @Ben84 for this great ride and the support, it was really enjoyably given it is my second fewbie ride.
  11. Thanks a lot @Gaurav, @Islam Soliman@Yousef Alimadadi for making my first night ride a very enjoyable and pleasant one, i thought i would be stressing out given the new experience, yet i enjoyed every minute of it, looking for more night drives now. For everyone in the convoy, it has been great riding with you, guess we were just blessed to have the right collection of drivers constructing the convoy, in alignment to the sighting of the shooting star by @Gaurav and @Islam Soliman at the beginning made this a very smooth ride 😀
  12. thanks a lot @Gaurav interesting to learn all of those options, i will definitely consider them, good to know there is an advantage to the UAE's hot weather🙂
  13. @Lawrence_Chehimi, it could be ok for the battery if it is new as well as the car, but for the tyres it really depends but it can cause this flat spot, as per the link shared by @Niki also, changing the oil is recommended for any duration more than a month or so, i didn't know that. also covering any openings like the exhausts.. for example so as not to let small creatures having this as their nest especially of it s parked outside, which is i guess unlikely to happen here but just in case.
  14. thanks a lot @Niki for the informative link and information, i didn't know the "flat stopper" solution existed, there are other points in the link that is quite interesting to consider as well. i am mostly concerned about the tyres, all what i could get in terms of ideas is either lift the whole car over jack stands, or use the flat stopper or of course the best solution which is to have someone to drive it every week or so if you can find this volunteer and in our case they need to do this for 2 cars so... 😁. @Islam Soliman, as far as i understood the issue rises because the tyres resting on hard ground at a single spot for a long time, this spot start to flatten and some type of deformation occurs to the rubber, apparently this deformation sometime it is temporary as soon as you start driving the car again, other times it is just permanent depending on the size and duration i guess, (as a pure speculation from my side not depending on any solid information 😃) theoretically those flat stoppers allow the tyres to keep its circular shape instead of letting the tyres take the flat shape of the solid ground. just crossed my mind, an out of the box idea yet not applicable, to park the car on the sand, soft enough will not harm the tyres 😂. i just realized because of the Covid, a lot of people haven't been back their home countries for a long time so when they plan to go they stay there for a long time as well, and the flexible teleworking model that have been implemented almost everywhere, made it easier for people to work anywhere for some time, which brings another idea, why not make a business that provides a service that someone will take the car for a ride and a wash every week, i know i am willing to pay for that😉. @Frederic, guess the inflating solution could work theoretically but the tyres tend to slowly deflate after quite some time, not sure if it could reach the point of getting the flat spot though?!
  15. It is a shaded parking but opened from 2 sides, so it is considered outside
  16. thanks @Alexander Alcala, no issue for the jacks to be raising the car for this long period?
