  1. @GauravJust checked the AXA and RSA T&Cs, the vehicle is not covered in the following case: If You are participating in any kind of dune-bashing, competitive event or race.
  2. On my insurance policy offroad coverage is there, but when going deep into the T&Cs, I found that I'm only covered up to 500m from road (that is for crossing from one side to another on unpaved road). Have you guys checked what is covered by your insurance, is there an insurance that covers roll overs when dune bashing?
  3. @Wrangeld i really enjoyed the drive at the back, It was indeed relaxing. Newbie drives have their own taste, you get the chance to enjoy the views, help others and learn more on recoveries. I Will be joining more newbies drive in future.
  4. Ah ok, a sextant, you will be using trigonometry functions in the calculator then... guess I'm getting a sort of an idea of what you're trying to do tomorrow😃
  5. Thanks @Lorenzo Candelpergherfor the amazing drive, had a lot of fun today, it is one of these drives that I didn't want to end. I consider this stuck as my first real stuck in carnity, in which for the first time I had to keep on steering full left and full right until I got exhausted 😀 In one of my newbie or fewbie drives I recall i got crested while going straight up and straight down, but it was managed in no time. But this one was different and required a lot of shoveling. Thanks everybody for the help. Honestly, before we started the drive I was a bit worried, Didn't know if I'll be able to cope with a fast pace drive. But turned up not being as bumpy as I thought, so I really enjoyed every bit of it. Thanks also to @varunmehndirattaand @GauravSoni for the Tips they gave me, it is the first time I drive without taking the exact track taken by the car in front of me. It worked really well. See you soon guys on sand.
  6. @Lorenzo Candelpergher I'm excited for my first intermediate drive, hope I don't damage the car though😃. Guys see you tomorrow on sand.
  7. @Rawad Bahsascongrats for the underbody protection😃.
  8. I also tried the Bosch but only lasted 15 months, also got another brand from a gas station and lasted the same. I only switched to Varta after a couple of years from buying the Mercedes, I was surprised that I only had to change it after 4 years ( it didn't even die, but was getting weak), it is installed in the engine bay as well. But again we can't compare the AGM batteries to standard ones as they are made to last longer and withstand much more discharge/charge cycles, and obviously the price is higher. Mercedes wanted 1200 AED for the 95 ah battery, but i got it outside for 650 aed. The Altima was using a smaller size, if not mistaken was 60 Ah, used to pay 230 aed for it, and usually lasts 2-2.5 years.
  9. @Frederic, how long does the Amaron usually lasts? I used to buy the Varta (Blue color) directly from the distributor, on the Altima used to last 2 years and half. On the Mercedes I use Varta AGM ( Silver) this lasts around 4 years.
  10. I agree, I've seen some members driving it and seems it is a capable offroader. I actually went with a friend who is looking to buy it for his wife as a family car. Honestly the price is unbeatable for what you are getting. We visited Nissan and Toyota showrooms and the prices are almost double for a same size vehicle..
  11. I visited the Mitsubishi showroom yesterday and I was surprised by Ramadan offers. Brand new Montero Sport, is being sold at 76K + Vat. The final price was 90K (VAT inclusive), including 5 years extended warranty, 3.5 years or 70K service contract, insurance and registration. if you negotiate more you can get it at 88K (just don't mention my name :d. It is a a good offer if any one looking to buy a new car...
  12. Thanks Richard @Wrangeldfor your advice. Honestly when I swapped the wheels from 20" to 17" with AT tires, the drives became much easier, smoother and can actually find traction everywhere. The pace on fewbie+ is just perfect for me, not sure if I'll enjoy it if it is a bit faster as I'm running on stock soft suspension. I'll have to try as it defers from Marshall to another or terrain to another.. I've done few side sloping on the slip face where the sand was super soft and more momentum was required which isn't a big issue. I'll stay away from intermediate for the time being until i get my rear bumper sorted out, currently have a departure angle of about 25 deg, so I always slow as much as possible when exiting a steep decent.
  13. I'm glad that no body got hurt and the car came out with no damage. You guys already answered the questions running in my head. Since I still haven't joined any intermediate drive, I would like to ask, is it much different than the fewbie plus drives? Is the side sloping done in intermediate (especially this one) much different than the ones we used to do in other drives? After seeing this, I got a bit hesitant joining intermediate drives😂.
  14. Happy Birthday @Gaurav🎉🎉
  15. @Rawad Bahsasfor me the under body protection was a priority as in Fewbie drives we tend to ride a lot of ridges and I felt that I'm hiting my oil pan in certain places so thought to put it first before something really bad happens. The rest looks fine.
  16. @Rawad Bahsas, @Chaitanya D i also found a handy arm rest storage box as the cooler box is very deep. Below are the photos.
  17. Note that the 17" Wheels are from Braid. They are the only brand who made a 17" wheel specially for the Y62 with large calipers. The tires are Bfg ko2 285/70R17. (These made a real difference on sand) Clearance between the wheel and the caliper is soo tight. But never had an issue. Been to the desert 4 times now and nothing got scrached on the wheel.
  18. The fire extinguisher looks like this now. Don't have a photo from my car.
  19. Here is the underbody protection, baja lights and wheels. I also added a metal mesh covering the opening between the bash plate and bumper. The Y62 also doesn't have a fire extinguisher holder under the seat so I added one.
