  1. Congratulations @Imran Kashif, promotion well deserved!
  2. Thank you @Islam Soliman for the drive this morning! These soft patches and side slopes are always tricky, especially for the back of the convoy. Great way to start the day in good company, and for me a last chance to take some sand with me before my holidays. @Chris Wing @Simon Dawood @Vaibhav @Zed @Fabien Monleau @Thomas Varghese @Ranjan Das it was nice driving with you, some of you since a long time! See you soon !
  3. It was a beautiful morning in the sands. Thank you all of you for joining, we had a great drive and a great company. Mahafiz area has always nice surprises, as the area might look relatively flat with a lot of bushes, but it has some hidden gems, as perfect shaped bowls and long dunes calling for side sloping. We took advantage of all of it, and each of you was attentive to correct their lines when needed. Good practice for the next steps ! Then, leaving Fossil Rock to our left, we reached the Faya area, crossing this beautiful stretch of dunes. There was almost no tracks, and a very soft sand. Even with the majestic views of the mountains and virgin dunes, you were focused on your tracks, and we had almost no refusal. Finally, the high dune of Faya was there to test our machines and our capabilities, showing that a big climb is not only about power, but a combination of line selection, acceleration dosing, proper gearing... and power! All of us (ok... one of us was a passenger) made it to this perfect bowl at the top of the dune, to enjoy the fantastic view around. Very well driven everyone we had only minor refusals, no stuck, showing definitely high level and concentration. Still we had 2 recoveries, not from our convoy. One motorbike stuck in soft sand, and a Patrol stuck in a pocket not even 1 km from the exit. Just reminders that driving alone in the desert is always to be avoided. @Gregory Powell thank you for the 2nd lead, very well executed. @Jaro Tuzinsky excellent progress during the drive itself, with a good control of the Pajero. @Brett Eicher nice performance with the manual Cherokee, we forget that some of us have additional work during the drive! @Dinesh Kumar A you take the Prado to heights without efforts, making any climb or bowl look easy. @Jonny90 excellent control of the Safari, you will enjoy your car more and more! @takeshi sobue, always a pleasure to hear the FJ in the climbs! @Imran Kashif it was a pleasure to meet a new FJ fellow. A few adjustments in your lines, and you will see the performance of the FJ can still be increased. @Ignacio Quindós, very well driven with good control. Big thank you for the sweep, with timely indications from the back of the convoy. Big thank you also to @Pacific keeping the lines of the convoy and assisting the refusals when needed. I will be away for a month, enjoy the desert during this time, and see you in September !

  5. Dear Desert Drivers, Tomorrow's drive will be very scenic, We will start facing the rising sun crossing the Mahafiz area in the direction of Fossil Rock, trying to avoid bushes and shrubs, using portions of tracks from time to time until we reach a few impressive bowls and long dunes. Then we will have a nice open portion of medium size dunes, with views of the mountains opposite a deep valley to our left, until we reach the high dunes formation of Faya. The soft sand will add to the challenges, and all your skills will be needed to control your driving lines. @Gregory Powell @Jaro Tuzinsky @Sunny84 @Brett Eicher @Dinesh Kumar A @Pacific @Jonny90 @takeshi sobue @Imran Kashif @Ignacio Quindós I will indicate the convoy order by the end of the afternoon. Please let me know before in case you changed your plans. Looking forward to the drive !

  10. It was a very nice drive this morning. I've started at a relaxed pace, just enjoying the pleasant weather through the open window, finding a smooth way for the long convoy through the middle size dunes, trying to avoid the double sided slip faces dunes shaped by the wind, and progressively reaching Pink Rock. The faces were almost empty, perfect conditions for the first climbs of the day. The excellent level of the group allowed to increase the pace, and take more challenging lines on the long plateau between Pink Rock and Big Red. The clean air made the view on the dunes around very crisp. By the time we reached Big Red, all drivers were fully awake, and concentrated on the driving lane. In the continuity of a first climb, we tackled the back face of Big Red itself, and bowl after bowl, we reached the ridge just below the summit, which is a performance at FB level, with a long convoy, congrats to all ! After a small break, we spent the last hour climbing up and down, releasing our energy, and the power of our cars ! Excellent performance from all, especially for the new FB @Mike. @Sunny84 and our new joiner @Gregory Powell! The regular FBs @Suresh K @takeshi sobue @Dinesh Kumar A @TT_Dubai were having a very good control of theirs cars keeping the lines as needed. Big thank you for @Richard Franks as Sweep, @Gerrit Bus for the video extracts to come (no pressure ;)). And special thanks for my supports today, @Haitham Khattab, excellent in the role of 2nd Lead, and great contribution from @Rob S and @Waqas Parvez, perfect in their roles of Center Forward, helping fellow drivers when required, and maintaining the lines despite the length of the convoy. Thank you all for joining the drive this morning, enjoy the rest of the weekend !
  11. Great pictures in the gallery 😀 Thank you @RiaanJH @Mohamad Anwer @Karthik Raptor @Mark D @Ranjan Das
  12. I will keep beautiful images of the drive this morning. I couldn't take pictures, but I have them in my head, and I hope they will come in the gallery (I've seen already nice ones, thank you). Just to mention a few: - the rising sun, behind the Solar Park Innovation Center, - the pristine dunes of the Little Sweihan area, - a herd of camels spread out in the sabkha, motionless back to the wind, - a group of oryxes, playing in the sand, and a little one, separated from the group - a dark grey sky over the sabkha, and pale yellow dunes, lit by the sun - an empty valley, between high dunes, and a majestic tree standing in the middle - complicated crests and sand formations, shaped by the wind - an oasis of ghaf trees, with clouds and mountains in the background This was Middle Earth, and we had an amazing convoy to cross it. You were all focused on your tracks, and we had only minor refusals despite the difficult sand conditions. Thank you @Mohamad Anwer, for a perfect SL (including the pics !), @Pacific for the support, @Ranjan Das for the support and the sweep, @Gertjan @RiaanJH @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler @Joseph Raju @ASAD. and the Raptors team @Mark D and @Karthik Raptor for the excellent drive and pleasant company. It was a prefect way to start this long weekend !
