  1. well firstly thinking you will roll over is a bad start before you even start 😉. As long as you dont do something crazy, take care of yourself and your car during the drive you should be fine. You have to of-course factor in the risk when you pay the extra premium for your insurance. What is the probability of you having a total loss in the first place? is it really such a common thing? you will probably end up paying the extra premium but never need it. But it depends on person to person, I know some people who have always had only 3rd party insurance, others would like to have full insurance even for an old car. So i guess if you are that sort of person who wants to have all his risks covered then go for it.
  2. welcome to the club @Vasja Zupan, hopefully you will soon be welcomed to the prado club as well 😀. Prados are basically FJCs that come with family comfort. I have the 2010, have owned it for 8 years but still love it wether on or off-road. You dont really need to add an extra air locker, the central differential is more than enough if you get stuck i.e. if you ever need it as mostly 4L is good enough. I still drive stock except for the skid plate but like i said its basically FJC with added comfort and visibility (FJ Owners might get offended there 😝) so whatever mods you can do on a FJ you can on a Prado as well if you ever want to go that way.
  3. Hi @Tbone was on the way but had to turn back due to an emergency call. Have a safe drive.
  4. hi @Tbone have waitlisted as my 2nd weekend drive. Hoping this will be my first fewbie drive.
  5. Thanks a lot everyone. This has the same feeling i had when i first got my license 😅
  6. personal opinion but im not very comfortable with spacers. I think it just adds another potential point of failure. I would go for offset rims whenever i go for the wide stance. But many people have had spacers are happy with them.
  7. @Rob Shave you been able to narrow down on what type of lift you will go with? or which one works best for a Prado?
  8. Thanks @Brette & @Shaaz Sha for the wonderful drive and guidance. The area was crowded bt you ensured the convoy remains safe and the drive enjoyable. Great to meet and chat with fellow enthusiasts, hopefully will see you all again soon.
  9. @Chaitanya D sadly wont be able to make it due to change of plans. Have removed myself from RSVP so someone else can take place. Have a safe drive everyone.
  10. i have a similar skirt on my 2010 but still have it for now though got a bash plate done, even by removing it doesn't do much in terms of increasing the ground clearance. Was searching if i could find a custom ceramic bumper done somewhere rather than cutting the original one. Hopefully this one doesn't decide to come off itself by then
  11. thanks a lot @Ale Vallecchi , @Russ and everyone else for making a memorable drive. Wish you all and your families a very happy new year and hope to you see you in the sands soon.
  12. thanks @Srikumar. Would anyone know the current rules on traveling from dubai to Abudhabi? i know that PCR is not required but do i need to have a green pass on Al Hosn? do they scan? how much time does it take at the checkpoint? etc.
  13. Just had my first drive and Being a prado owner would be very interested to get some insights myself. Not that i intend to do mods anytime soon. I think i still have plenty to get out of my stock and neither have the budget 😅…but this would be good information to have.
  14. hi @Srikumar, have RSVP'd for this drive. any information on meeting point will be appreciated. i will be driving from mirdif, Dubai so just want to plan accordingly.
  15. hi @Chaitanya D just wanted to know if camping is an optional? I wont be able to stay the night. If not then the only other newbie drive this weekend is in Abudhabi so will have to take that one i guess.
  16. Great driving guys. @Wrangeld @Alex Raptor thanks for the guidance, was a wonderful experience. Hope to see you in the sands again soon.
  17. also any recommendation on which air compressor to get and the best place to get one?
  18. I guess my understanding was different then. There is tow point. Should i still get a shackle also or this will do?
  19. hi @Wrangeld and everyone. Excited to join the club. I have stock Prado V6 2010. No prior off-roading experience. Want to explore the desert and develop off-road skills where i am confident of handling any terrain on my own. Also you've mentioned the front & rear tow hooks are mandatory. My stock prado doesn't have a rear hook, any suggestions where i can get one and the rest of the gear before the drive? thanks.
