Those sands, those infinite areas... time well spent.
And the sound the sand makes when you plunge 50 meters down... unforgettable.
@Asif Hussain something for you! What a drive! Thank you sir for the opportunity!
The Yellow Truck is still there - we found it! I could see a small Carnity sticker on the roof - nice accent.
This was probably the most memorable dune for many:
I'm tired like hell from the drive, but I have to say this one rose the bar high! I wish we had dunes like these closer to Dubai.
@PAJERO petelczyc luke, your flag is something else (size wise)
Happy crew together:
Looking forward to some more trips like this!

Thanks @JeromeFJ, I am dropping out from both as I signed up for full day Yellow truck the next day!

I didn't expect this kind of traffic... Wow. I guess till the season is over I'll stick to the morning trips - tourists tend to stay in bed late so I don't expect a highway traffic rush hour style there at 6AM... but boy it was crowded till the end!
@Simon D I hope your ride did not suffer any major failure and you'll be back on all four (wheels) in no time! @Gaurav awesome finishing and thanks for opportunity to take a few shots! Pajero is still the best car in the world and we all know it...
Thanks all - it was a great end-of-the-year drive! Looking forward to even more fun in 2024!

you can use dual sided tape - it will hold just fine. That's what I did. Drilling it will ensure this thing will keep going round and round and won't be stable, so that's one thing I didn't think it thorough. I drilled a hole and used a screw - it looked ugly, so used the 3m tape and finished it with a nice 5mm drawer plug from Ikea...

Ever since I started driving I was super annoyed by my handheld radio swinging left and right and coming out of the cupholders during unfortunate events that occur during sticky situations...
so I started digging. Many many many ideas later, I decided that I don't want to have two radios on me at all times (since the rule here is to "take your radio with you"), so it must be something easy to clip in and out...
and I finally got it right:
If anyone is interested - its creator made it for his JL But suits great on a Pajero's modified radio dashboard...

I had to drop this in order to sign up for any weekend drives due to limits, but I'll be back as soon as the lock is over

Interesting... so 4H in Jeeps locks center diff fully? Isn't there a "classic" 4WD mode that allows you to just drive it like any other 4x4 with power delivered to all 4 wheels (albeit with different ratios depending on center diff setup)?

good drive gents! learning the limits of my humble Pajero every day... finally got a good reason to invest in bashing plate, but something tells me the next upgrade will have a nissan or jeep badge on the front grill, because these dunes are getting waaaay too steep for a tiny car with 250hp - I am a little jealous looking at these Jeeps getting up there in seemingly effortless way...

I was not expecting 15 degrees in the morning, to be fair...
But we had a lot of fun. Thanks guys! Some of the photos turned out really "dramatic"
I think for the next drive we need a high speed camera and somebody to take pictures of me as well!
I'll be uploading more into our gallery as soon as I figure out how to find it...

@DP1011 I love the spirit - morning drive was great! Thanks again for letting me in.
While working on pictures, I noticed that @Issam Atra had windows opened during the ridge bashing - sir! respect!
Edit: @Gurcharan Mehta hope you'll like these shots:
I added remaining pics to the drive gallery! Enjoy!

Has anyone seen an option to install remote start on a Pajero? I'm interested in as OEM as possible solution, but I didn't find any ready-made options from Mitsubishi. Anything universal that would work without the need of keeping a secondary key permanently in the car?

Awesome, thanks for clarifying!

I would love to sign up, but since we have a limit of 1 drive per weekend (as per announcements) and I'm already on Sunday drive - can I somehow add myself to wait list only here and - in case the list is not completed by Saturday/Sunday - join?
Edit: I wait listed myself. If you allow for this to be my second drive that weekend, please do add me to the list of participants.

has anyone got a dyno chart for pre/post modification on 3.8L ?

Awesome, thanks for the trust @Gaurav! Excited about the upcoming opportunities for new adventures!

Thanks for the drive, gents! @Gaurav, pleasure to meet you, sir!

It might sound obvious, but having more people on whitelist than participants suggests that the interest in these events is greater than anticipated -> is there any plan to expand number of drives?
Also - the title is a bit misleading for an afternoon drive to be called "Morning"

Looking at the weather forecast it seems we will have some wet sand scenario -> making it (at least from my past experiences) much easier to cope and giving newbie like me much more confidence in his own abilities
I hope we will not cancel because of the rain?
-
I believe I've been exactly in the situation you are referring to...
Thanks, that is the explanation I was looking for.

hey @Stumpy Paj, how's your experience after half a year? Do you feel that this insulation did the job? How does it feel when rains? My swb is loud, but when it's raining I feel almost as if I was driving with rear windows open, that's how much "rain"/water splash noise gets in...

Newbie Pajero driver here - all these are questions are considered based on driving on sand only, so not intended to do doughnuts on tarmac or anything equally dumb.
I get the idea why driving on soft sand often requires full power and various assists can only get the situation worse, but why isn't it enough to just shut ASC OFF on my car to do what I want to do? Even in ASC OFF mode I hardly feel any change in the behavior of the car's support systems - the car is still fighting with me by cutting the throttle and braking wheels which makes it difficult to get out of shady situations during dune bashing... And not really allowing to use the full power (all I see is the disco-lights flashing all over the dashboard every time when when WOT on soft sand).
So first thing I tried was to physically remove the relay responsible for all traction assistance and I was amazed how much difference this made - talking about four wheel spin on second gear in 4H mode during not-so-steep approach - no more blinking wheels - it's like a totally different car.
Next thing was to start looking for various products you guys talk about in this very forum so I don't have to get my hands dirty during every drive to get the relay in and out -> cronos4x4 or others from Australia, as cronos is supposedly causing some side effects and does not work as expected... When I tried to order one, pages I checked only offer them for cars with no diff lock, while the ones with diff lock are sold out (even at the price of over 100 bucks).
But youtube is full of various videos where people just cut the grey wire on the ECU and hook it to the ground via a on/off switch to achieve the exact same thing. This guy is particularly creative to achieve the same thing via third relay (complete overkill in my view, but I am wondering what you guys think?), but I did a similar thing to what is going on here - just the white wire and ground loop. There was never enough explanation as it WHY is this approach any different than vs buying a fancy loom and switch for over $100, nor whether this is applicable on 3.8L with diff lock or not...
I did it myself today, took me less than an hour, even though I never removed trim pieces from under the steering wheel or the glove box - so took me a while to locate all the bolts and clamps, but overall it's a fairly straightforward job. Pick the white wire, cut it, solder, connect it to ground, and done...
Nice round switch next to ignition, just above the ASC OFF, a little wire, soldering iron and job done.
Now what is the benefit of using cronos or other alike vs this simple thing? Any pros/cons of the DIY with single wire? What to expect from this setup?
