Khatim to Fayah – Fewbie Night Drive

We’ll kick off from Khatim and make our way toward Fayah, using the night drive to play with a few techniques that feel completely different once the sun goes down.

The plan is to spend some time experimenting with night-time sidies, getting comfortable reading the dune face under lights, and introducing some basic ridge and crest riding along the way.

Nothing too wild — the focus is on building confidence, keeping good flow, and getting a feel for how familiar terrain changes in the dark.

Somewhere along the route, we’ll make the mandatory coffee stop before heading toward the Khatim Anomaly for a few higher-G sidies.

If you know, you know.

Expect a relaxed Fewbie-level drive with plenty of movement, a bit of learning, some good lines, and hopefully a very good cup of coffee somewhere in the middle of it all.

You’ll be home before midnight — assuming you live in Abu Dhabi. 🌙

Drive Summary

We rolled out at 20:00 sharp and started the night on some of the smaller dunes, giving everyone a chance to settle in and get comfortable with sidies and switches in the dark.

The FB drivers were looking strong, so before long we picked up the pace and pushed into the larger rollercoaster dunes.

That’s where things really came alive.

The cars were roaring, the lines got bigger, and it was definitely starting to feel a little more FB+ than FB.

Switches. Big sidies. Plenty of speed. And a lot of fun.

From there, we started working east toward the ridge-riding section of Khatim, where we enjoyed some longer ridge lines before stopping for a quick break.

@ChrisW also gave us a demo of his new light controllers — very cool stuff!

Then it was eastwards again, this time through some smaller, flowing rollercoaster terrain before we finally reached the BIG BIG stuff in Fayah.

Big dunes. Big speed. Big Gs.

We dropped down past the anomaly, where the convoy finally suffered its first proper stuck of the night. After a quick recovery, we decided it was as good a place as any to stop for coffee.

Thirty minutes of coffee, chatting and cooling down later, we packed up and hit the road home.

A really fun night with a convoy that handled everything thrown at it.

Sidies, switches, ridges, speed and coffee.

See you all on the next drive! @Mahmut @jamil abdollah @Lukas Wii @Piotr. @Sebastian Nohse @Giacomo @ChrisW
