Sound deadening

Recommended Posts

I did my Pajero in one of these all-in shops specializing in car accessories near Port Rashid. They left no single bolt unbroken, so I ended up fixing a lot of things myself... 9YO Jeep will have a similar problem with brittle plastic trim pieces - any shop you choose will do the job, but they will make a lot of damage as they go, so prepare yourself ahead of time - buy all the plastic clips dedicated for your car's interior, perhaps even prep the car yourself... otherwise you will end up with things falling off during the drive next day.

I went a slightly different route - I ordered from the US the sound deadening headliner by Design Engineering. It’s basically some engineered foam that is contoured to precisely fit the inside of the roof panels, and sticks in place with adhesive pads.

My primary interest was actually to get some thermal insulation (ie. reduce the amount of radiative heat coming in via the black plastic roof), which the product does, but its main purpose is sound reduction. It’s had a noticeable effect on reducing noise, and I think they also sell products for the floor too.

However…in the end…it’s a Jeep…driving 10-20 kph slower will also achieve the same effect 🫠
