Illegal ? After market Exhaust and modifications on RAM ? - Do the cops give you a ticket ?

Hello Fellas!

Are the after market exhausts (Atak or S type or any of them) and other modifications on the RAM an illegal one to do in UAE ?

Do the Cops charge you a fine for any modifications done ?

I am at the verge of doing the mods ( exhausts and lift kits ) - should I be worried as a RAM owner ?

Not really, as long as you pass the car through RTA every year you will be fine, my truck is quite loud especially when you step on it, (it’s almost straight piped). However if you decide to floor it or be obnoxiously loud next to cops then they might give you a fine. As to the other mods, it really depends on what you do, and where you pass the car, my truck has a ton of mods which people say can result in RTA failing my car or getting fines, but I have never had a fine for any mods, and my car has always passed except for the supercharger which needed special approval, but apart from that I didn’t have any issues and I don’t think you will have any either. Let me know if you have any other questions 👍

just make sure you don't go to Sharjah/Ajman. They don't really care - if you are loud and obnoxious, you will get an impound, no matter how many certificates you will have. And if the car is not stock, you will be fined after impound. With little room for any discussion.

Honestly a lot of times it will also depend on the cops and their mood, I have heard that Sharjah is quite strict, I’ve been on many trips to Sharjah and all the other Emirates in the truck, luckily nothing yet. But whenever I pass cops it always makes me slightly nervous 😂

That's a very helpful response. but that brings another two questions

1) Does the RTA pass through without questions / issues with mods on the truck ?
(Mine is just two years old so I guess from 3rd or 4th year I have to take it to the testing center).

2) Is there a way we could get a pre-approval from RTA for Lifting with bigger tyres and exhausts and some paint job ?

No questions were asked, atleast for me, for any of the mods except as I mentioned, the supercharger, everything else passed without any issues or concerns. I’m not sure about any pre approval but I don’t think anyone has gotten pre approval for lift kits and bigger tires and exhaust. Regarding your paint job, if you plan change the colour of the vehicle then you need to request for vehicle colour change, you can do that on the Dubai police app.
