I will never encourage solo driving for others as it could be dangerous but i agree with your reaction because once you get to a point of having full command on WHAT you want to do in the desert and WHERE you want to go, the passion you have for this hobby will go from 10/10 to 9999 out of 10. That is why i completely agree with what @Gaurav is saying about Dune Bashing and i have started to experience it not too long ago.

I definitely like the roar of engine, adrenaline etc etc of Dune basher,

but my soul wish to do overland(which I never did) or outdoorsman(several times camping not in count)
