Any experiences with GWM Tank 500 off roading any one?

Hey there, fellow adventurers!

So, I recently took the plunge and purchased a GWM Tank 500 yes, that’s right, one of those Chinese brands that’s been making waves. It’s advertised as a capable off-roader, and I’m eager to put its claims to the test. I’m reaching out to the seasoned explorers and off-road warriors here for some real, no-nonsense advice.

Have any of you taken the Tank 500 out for a desert drive or know someone who has? Did it survive the sandy chaos or turn into a desert diva? I’d love to hear your stories, tips, and any war stories associated with this beast.

Your feedback would mean a lot, whether it’s about its desert performance, reliability, or just whether it’s worth risking my suspension on the dunes. Thanks in advance, and keep the wheels spinning!

Cheers!

Hi @Hanan ! I’d love to see the Tank in action and have heard generally good things about it. When it comes to Chinese made off-road vehicles we have Haval and BAIC off-roading with us on a regular basis in our off-road club and they are doing great.

Feel free to join us in the off-road club or book one of our 1-on-1 desert driving masterclass, which would allow you to get personal guidance and the time to test all functionalities under the supervision and guidance of an expert.

I recall seeing this Tank 500 earlier this year in showroom. With numbers it seems impressive to get 300+ hp from 2 liter engine (if its real or gimmick), but huge size like Land Cruiser and Patrol should also justify based on power-to-weight ratio for real life off-roading.

I agree with Fredy, desert driving course will be best place to test its true potential with complete safety and by pushing it to its limit in a controlled manner.

Share the weight, hp, and torque of your specific model.

Let's root for each other & watch each other grow.

From what i can see:

GCC model is a 3.0 Turbocharged V6 and churns out a lot of power. Very impressive.

I think other markets like China have a Hybrid model as well with 2.0l (electric motor+combustible engine). I wonder if these can be purchased on the grey market here.

And what about gear box? I know for jetour in Russia were tested, all good on road, except gear, overheats when offroading, as I remember it was jetour, not Tank

but I think googling on some reviews should give some result
