Lens Lovers Club - Lunar Eclipse Experience - Abu Dhabi - 7 Sep2025

On the night of Sept. 7-8, Earth will pass directly between the sun and the full moon in this year's second and final total lunar eclipse.

Spanning more than five hours, the celestial event will peak with an impressive 82-minute totality phase, when Earth's massive shadow will plunge the moon's entire near side into a reddish darkness, earning it the nickname "blood moon."

The plan is to have a meetup with max. 15 members to practice and enjoy the art of Night photography and learn from each other. Bring whatever camera you have and have a look at the advisable settings in your camera's manual or ask in the forum. After the event you can publish your photos in our gallery.

What to bring:

-Your camera or smartphone, a camping chair, and some refreshments. A tripod is recommended for night photography.

-4x4 and deflated tires are required to be able to reach the location.

A moon eclipse fully visible during night time is not so common, don't miss the opportunity to observe it in the best conditions !

Good morning all !

Due to the Abu Dhabi weather conditions the originally posted spot will be updated. As all signups are from Dubai we have chosen a very nice alternative (Thanks @JeromeFJ) which will provide a beautiful moon sighting.

So instead of Abu Dhabi, we will be meeting up in Faqa-Dubai.

@JeromeFJ@B.K.@JC_E@Giacomo@Sam Selim please reply with "OK" if this is fine for you.

@JeromeFJ will be at the meeting point at 6PM already, if that works for all of you please confirm with a reply here. If you would be arriving at 7PM please let us know in your reply what you prefer. Based on the feedback we either all try to meet up at 6PM, or group 1 can leave with Jerome at 6PM, and group 2 can arrive at 7PM with me.

I have now updated the meeting point. Beware of this road as the cameras are set to Abu-Dhabi rules: actual speed  no 20km/h margin..
