We request every member who joins this drive to go through the information below and strictly follow these guidelines, etiquette, and responsibilities.

Drive Details

Level:  Fewbie and above (all levels)

Meeting time: 8:30 AM (SHARP - Without any exceptions)

Action Plan - The rarely driven side of Sweihan, to its north-west, along the road from E16 road to Al Ain. This is where we plan to go, only after not more than 3 drives, we plan to return here next weekend. We'll find a long set of parallel dunes to drive along, with relatively high but tight slopes, that will require good control and skills to cross. Next to it, across from a more technical area, another cordon, further to the west, with also nice long range dunes and a few taller ones. A new area to explore, and build experience. 

Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance.

What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

Approximate finish time: 12:30 PM

P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive.

LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE:

  • This drive is limited to 10 cars only. RSVP will close on Friday - 6 PM.
  • If the RSVP is full, you can add your name to the waitlist, once anyone drops, you will be moved to the RSVP list.
  • RSVP will close a day prior to preparing a convoy list.
  • Latecomers will be returned back - Without any exceptions.
  • Members without RSVP will be returned back - Without any exceptions.
  • Please withdraw your RSVP, if you aren't joining, so your spot can be taken by others.
  • Repeated no-show members after RSVP will have their account suspended for a month.

Good morning @Ale Vallecchi

I had signed up for an intermediate drive but seems like others have pulled out and it just shows me so I am not sure if it will go through. Hence, I have put myself in waitlist for yours and Luke's drive. You too already have a big convoy but still pushing my luck here. Incase someone drops out, please add me the list. Else, no worries and hope to drive with you soon in 2026! Have a great drive!

Dear Desertnauts.

Preparing for tomorrow's drive, some info and a consideration.

As far as info, the location is a mostly undriven area with three cordons of dunes, squeezed between a mostly flat area and the farms bordering E16 road to Sweihan (from where we'll enter). These cordons are quite tight, with some taller dunes, perhaps quite sharp on top. We'll drive up and down these 3 cordons, until we reach the tip, jammed against another farm area, and then we'll move north-east to cross a flatter area of low and long dunes, to reach another few cordons, closer to the Faqa Road. There is no exit toward Faqa from here, so we'll then double back toward Sweihan, to exit where we'll have entered.

The consideration is about the high number of long trucks participating in the convoy. This will be a great opportunity for the truck drivers to test the finesse and control of their driving technique, skillfully using the power of their engine only when needed, and at the same time driving smoothly and gently to preserve relatively clean tracks for the trucks coming behind each one.
