taaj Posted August 1, 2012 Report Share Posted August 1, 2012 the odometer works with two magnets where one is attached to the spokes of the wheel, and the other is attached to the car. Every time the tire rotates once, the magnets make a close contact and an electric charge is produced. the computer inside counts the number of contacts are made then calculates the total kms depending on how long the spokes are and how many rotations were spun.
