THIS CAMEL WAS ORIGINALLY BOUGHT BY THE ASSISTANT OF THE SHEIKH HERE IN DUBAI FROM THE MAIN LAND ROVER DEALERSHIP IN ABU DHABI. WHEN IT WAS NEW. IT WAS THEN BOUGHT BY THE LAST OWNER AND UNFORTUNATELY WAS NOT USED FOR SOME TIME. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND HAD IT TAKEN TO THE LAND ROVER SPECIALIST, TRIPLE AAA.

THEY WERE SURPRISED AT HOW ORIGINAL THE CAR WAS AND SUGGESTED AFTER SOME TIME IT NEEDED A NEW FUEL TANK BEFORE ANY WORKS WERE UNDER TAKEN. I HAVE NOW HAD A BRAND NEW AED 9,500 FUEL TAKEN SUPPLIED AND FITTED BY AL TAYER MOTOR. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN GIVEN A ONCE OVER AND THE KEY TURNED....... AND SHE STARTED WITH NO EFFORT AT ALL! A CREDIT TO THE GUYS AT LAND ROVER, AL TAYER AND TRIPLE AAA.

AFTER THAT, SHE HAS HAD SOME PAINT AND A FULL SERVICE BUT AGAIN, DUE TO VARIOUS OTHER PROJECTS HAS SAT AROUND A BIT AGAIN. THE CAR NEEDS THE ATTENTION OF A GOOD HOME AND SHE REALLY WILL BE A WONDERFUL CAR WHEN FINISHED.

OF COURSE NO WARRANTY IS GIVEN OR IMPLIED WITH THIS CAR, HOWEVER I HAVE THE POSSESSION CERTIFICATE AND KNOW THAT WITH ONLY A FEW SMALL ACCESSORIES, A FULL SERVICE AND A SET OF TYRES SHE IS MORE THAN LIKELY TO PASS AN RTA INSPECTION.

Can you list the items that are particular to original camel trophy vehicle ?

Such as

Safety Devices roll cages

Under body protection and steering guards

Modified electrical systems

Winches

Dixon Bate tow hitches and recovery points

There are many other features as well

there should also be events plaques from the event it took place in.

If it has none of these, then it is a dealer created copy of the original vehicle.

What price is the vehicle?

Thats a Limited Edition Copy produced in small numbers in 1998 for the Middle East market....the only thing 'Camel' about them were the paint, bonnet stickers and snorkel!

That vehicle is missing the bolt-on roof rack fitted with lamps and a CT plaque.

Of course the most important part of any CT vehicle is the 300TDi engine and manuel R380 gearbox....that one is a V8 Auto. The original had heavy duty half shafts denoted by a HD stamped on the ends.....there are a 101 other add-ons that denote an Original CT vehicle none of which the Limited Edition Vehicles had.

Due to the rather small numbers made they carry a slightly higher asking price than the bog standard XS Spec vehicles but in this market the value is about the same as a standard one unless it's still got all of the Limited Edition accessories which appear to be missing from the car in the photo.

I agree with Streaky on this, however seller didnt find good spot for taking picture as it looks front is leaking. Secondly rusted exhaust denotes many ageing issue.
