Pajero performance help needed

Recommended Posts

Hello there

i own a 3 ltr, 2006 SWB Pajero and wanted to get more power for both the road and mainly for the higher dunes  .

I am awair of the air filter, exhaust, platinum points and chip retuning.

Been trying to get the K&N drop in filter and for some reason the filter given on the K&N web site is not the one for the GCC spec 2006 pajero 3 ltr. Any ideas on the right fit from K&N or an alternitive.

Regarding the performance exhaust, there is a bit of a tug of war going on some sites about the noise levels and the fact that most systems might not clear the yearly regeristartion. Any insight on getting the right exhaust system that will not require switching the pipes for the tests will be great.

Any lead or help will be greatly appriciated.

Regards

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

I might sound rude, but trust me im very practical in my advise. If i am in your place i would simply pop this 3.0 Pajero to 3.8 Liter 6G75 amazing engine. The difference in switching cars would be slightly more but it will always pay you back extra when you again resale. Secondly you will have no headache of K&N sourcing, fitting, headers, exhaust noise and passing issue. Just stock 6G75 produces close to 250 hp plenty for good dunes in sweihan or in Liwa even. You current 3.0 produces 190hp if i am not wrong as its a 6G72 engine. And even if you mod with all stuff you mentioned you cant cross 210 - 220 (with chip tuning).

However if you still like to mod try Ramy in deira they have many different brands for OEM filters, Cone filters and exhaust options. But for sure with that noise level you cant get car passed unless you know someone in tasjeel.

Thank you for the heads up, you do have a point on the 3.8l Mitsu, i have seen them do well in Liwa with a good driver, however as a change in the ride might not get Home office approval  i will just have to find my ways at edging the HP but at the same time keep things in line with the law.

I have been to Ramy and they were lost about the K&N filters too. The ride comes with the stock paper filters that measure 35 X 23.5 X 40 cm and the closest i found on K&N was 35.9 X 23.7 X 2.4 cm, do you think this will work?

I think it should fit as no big diff in size in few mm. You can also check in Golden sun car accessories in shj. They do keep lot of air filters brand and oem replacement (free flow) as well. But adding air filter will hardly make any HP but it will make you feel that car has become free flow on throttle. Good luck.
