Driving from Dubai to Cape Town

Recommended Posts

I would like to find out if you would have any contacts at NISSAN MIDDLE EAST in regards to sponsoring us UAE residency visa's so we can apply for a carnet de passage and drive from Dubai to Cape Town, down the East Coast of Africa. Before we leave (April 2012) we will be raising money for charities close to our heart and donating the money to these charities so we not only get to do the journey of a lifetime, but we get the opportunity to give back!

We have financially covered all the costs of this trip, and do not need financial sponsorship. What we need is to have UAE residency in order to apply for a carnet de passage, which will enable us to drive our vehicle through every border w/o having to pay import tax. We will return to Dubai with the vehicle and get our money back on return.

We will have a website with all sponsorship information and we can brand out vehicle with our sponsor's logo. I am currently completing a presentation that I can send to you for further information.

Please let me know if you are interested and I will forward this on.

Kind regards

Has anyone done this kind of trip already?

Did you find another way around needing UAE residency and getting the Carnet de passage?

Would you know of any other company that could sponsor us?

Any info you can give would be great?

One MORE thing, our Nissan Patrol did not come with DIFF lock, to get this (is it definitely needed?) we have been quoted AED 7,500

Thank you

Hi Bianca

Good luck with your drive. I hope you have read our Banner message that we aren't supported or affiliated with Nissan or any of their dealers in the region here. So your chances are quiet slim to get any advantage or reply from Nissan ME from this post here. But being a Nissan enthusiast you are truly in a right place for seeking any help in planning your drive. I am sure you must have planned so many things for this drive but always make sure to carry plenty of consumable spare parts that you might need on following kms service intervals. Or research if countries you are passing thru have same Patrol like GCC specs there.

Diff lock and other recovery tools is good to have in your back pocket, but not really must unless you go serious off road (Sand / Mountains), for tarmac drive healthy and maintained engine is KEY for this type of drive to keep you rolling. Good luck with your drive.

As a Nissan Dubai owners community we are happy to welcome you and support you. Cheers.

Thank you so much for your reply and I will need a lot of advice in terms of the spare parts and tools to take with. I think we will be doing pretty pff rods sections - Lake Turkana for example and that is what we think we may need to the DIFF lock for, The roads in Kenys also seem to be pretty hair-raising judging by the forums I have read so far. I wil certainly be back on this page again with some serious quesitons for some serious Nissan Patrol owbers and fans.

Have you got the quote from Shj BMW road Nissan spare parts shops???? They sell same original parts in 50% discount, Im not kidding. Call Divya 06 5326782 and give your Patrol VIN number and ask for diff lock price.

Best of luck with your drive. Post some pictures of your ride here.
