@adil very well put. But American cars used to be no better here in the UAE. Compared with Japanese cars, the service costs used to be horrendous. The simple fact was that German cars tend to be more difficult to maintain. You need to stick to dealers or proper specialists. This means, large bills. One thing is that German cars don't fair well in this heat without it. All European cars for that matter. Japanese cars fair the best. Kind of seems like if you are looking for quality, you don't go for either German or American. Japanese seem to be more better engineered to be able to take the heat. But there is an operative word here - "seem"... Any car can survive here if you maintain it right and give it the correct service, etc. Some just cost more than others. The idea here is that you pay a 100 now, rather than a 1000 later.

Nice to enjoy the rain in the morning, but now it's getting too much to the state that it become a risk to my car. My car is almost half sunk in rain today in Jebel Ali. Please advise at the earliest how to save the car with minimal damage, as I am afraid to open it to let more water enter the car. What to do guys, please help fast. DO NOT START THE CAR ENGINE BEFORE YOU DO BELOW CHECKS: Disconnect the battery safely and make sure to let car engine hood open and inspect properly Check the engine oil condition and see if water has made it in the engine bay through dipstick or filter area then get the engine oil change before you start the car. Put it on recovery and get the car to workshop. Remove the carpet and all upholstery if you can and let them dry out completely asap, as dampness inside the car will leave the smell for ages. Once car started fine, get the full under-body checked and get the rust proofing or corrosion protection installed again professionally to not to let the rust develop in under body car components and chassis. If the water level has already hit the dashboard, then it's advisable to call your insurance and ask them to total off the car as then you starting it will multiply the damage internally and insurance might wipe their hands off.

Just read today morning that all cars in UAE will have below efficiency rating mandatory from 2017. This new move seems very good for educating consumer before buying the vehicle, however I am not understanding the need of creating 5 levels of rating within just 1 L/100 km (1.71 km/liter) difference. This is really new and interesting news I came across, that Dubai Police is planning to launch Al Mutabea camera to catch and fine long queue jumpers and driver who crosses white solid lines, and cut the traffic flow illegally. I love Dubai Police for these creative idea's to make Dubai roads safer for everyone.
