Hi Ren 13 , I just want you to know something I have done to my Xterra : Installed a levelling kit costing about AED 500 then ended up having to spend a little more on adjustable camber bolts . As Barry had suggested please have the front and rear aligned ( if the rear are alignable ) if you increase the height you will move the CG( Centre of Gravity ) up hence there is a need to have wheel spacers . One of the desert fox suggested 1 inch out for every 2 inch up . Go out for a couple of drives offroad see if it meets your requirement the n stick with if you feel that you need better suspension then please buy new springs and shocks that will give you lift and better suspension ( Initially going for total suspension change might throw you off as the ride will be stiffer and will be very noticeable on-road ). Please make sure you have adequate under chassis protection like bash plates , if your Fortuner has additional body kit please remove them as they will be removed by Desert ! Just my 02 Fils ! Hi Rahim, Till now I did not try to work on this one, but last time I visit some of the spare parts store in Al Quasis and look for the cabin air cleaner element for old pajero model, they told me that its not available. Thanks

You can get those skid plates ready made from sharjah accessories shops scattered all around or else get yourself one custom made PS. The custom ones will be stronger as you decided what type if metal to use and how much thickness to use

LOL so true. Once sitting at the lights in Sharjah in my old range rover. I just felt like giving it a few revs just to hear that V8 burble, it came with a slightly modified exhaust from factory, while I had my head buried in the instrument gauges and playing with the revs, I looked up and right next to me a Sharjah Police Pardo had pulled up and was looking at me!!!! He signaled to pull the window down, I, by now pretty embarrassed and pretty sure I was looking at a decent fine! Salam Alaikum Wa Alaikum What are doing? Who..me...err..aahh...I just picked up my car from the garage and checking if the engine missing has been fixed ( Utter BS and luckly I was close to industrial area ) Coming from the garage eh! Ahh..yess Engine missing huh Ahh yess..yes....Gave it another rev Hmmmm....ok yallah carry on Phew!!!! What a close call My lucky stars, quick thinking and decent Arabic saved the day me thinks! Waqas knowing you spend some time in Saudi, so I dont blame you searching and luring for such crapotastic mod ever. This is complete no-no from first 1 min I watch the video for first few of the reason barry stated already. What @Ren13 mentioned is the very first basic and safest step to enter into mod your stock car. I have done the same and adding K&N drop-in filter and felt the good note and free throttle response. Don't fall for K&N from local market as they all bump price by triple and waste lot of time in searching here and there (I have done same). Go to K&N US site and order exact fit in dirt cheap price with international shipping that delivers within 2-3 days. Second step is to play with exhaust and you have two options there and I have done both. Just for improved noise to sound different - remove the resonator with straight pipe. For sound and performance - Upgrade all pipes to 2.5 inch and add magnaflow low noise catback I done both in my Pajero at different phases of its life and enjoyed more on second option that made some genuinely noticeable difference in performance without adding too much doof - doof so that it get passed on RTA without any problem. I got these exhaust from Al Khwaneej in Shj, known for this exhaust mod since 30 years and referred to me by my close local friend who used them on many of his cars exhaust job done with them. Saleem: if you go with second option without cancelling the resonator and catalytic converter and add low noise catback - any RTA in UAE will pass it. Im running similar setup in my Mustang too and it passes every year without any wasta and I do visit Sharjah multiple times without any issue. One must be stupid to floor the accelerator for no reason in residential area to attract cops attention. If you drive decently then no one will ever bother you.

I wouldnt go near off road zone with the kathara jeeps they rent out at exorbitant prices. Put in a little more money and get your own. With the economic downturn and gas prices creeping up and it being summer its a buyers market out there for cars, specially 4x4s. Cars selling for crap prices. Personally I would stay away from sheeps but thats my eternal hate for sheeps speaking.

Get a old model jeep like 97 to 2000 that are capable and whose parts are easy to get and the rig is also cheap...its a win win in both sides There are a few pics of jeep in what's up group of Carnity but it needs some changes so can be used off road but its 8cyl...

@Ren13 Don't think that it will be expensive to get a lift kit and put it off. At an Iranian shop they will charge you approximately AED 700 - 800 for the stiffer springs. They also have a habit of telling you the bearings are gone, the bushes need replacing and scaring you till you end up spending around AED 2000. A proper suspension kit from a proper workshop will not cost you more than AED 2500 with the peace of mind. looking forward to the updates regarding your ride.

With gaurav Bhai not in I think I should stock some supplies and tools just incase and when you have things laying around then usually you won't need them....😁 its a workshop thing....

If above doesn't work or you actually need to dig deeper by yourself or with some mechnanic you trust follow the below video for Shift lock Solenoid and faulty wiring resulting in exactly same behavior as you are facing. Good luck and like it please.

You should not have suffered so much for so little stuff man. Every AUTO car has shift lock release button close-by for emergency in case of battery failure then that brake swithc might not work. And always those shift release lock has some simple procedure to by pass that shift lock. PLeas find attch below two fix: One is to open the shift lock rlease button small plastic cap and insert any screwdriver which is atleast 10 cm long and you can release that lock. More than likely it seems fuse in engine bay must be blown, check and change that fuse. If you dont have same 15 AMP fuse then you can replace with neigboring fog light fuse and get it change befor the foggy season arrive. It cost 2 AED.
