  1. With the kind helps of Karim i found a Jeep XJ for me. Without him it will be impossible to find these guys myself. Yesterday i went Ajman to meet Karim. He took me a Jeep garage and dealers. We checked many cars but the one we decide was really different than the others. I really like this one but still we have some cosmetic things to do on it. Right now its black, i mean all black except half of head lights Thank you so much @shadow79 and @skumar83

  2. Wow @NOOR OMAR what a breathtaking video. Although the drone shot was a bit shaky, maybe due to the high winds but the overall video made the hair stand. I guess this is a good time to post the trip report. This was 1 of the trips we enjoyed so much that we had to continue on the Saturday. We all met on time and we deflated and headed in. We drove by the fence for less than 3 kilometers before taking on the dunes. The convoy level being very experienced we drove at a fewbie+ level. We drove at a good pace through some fairly small to medium dunes and headed through 2 of the 3 pyramids to approach Iftar bowl at sunset. One by one we tried climbing the Iftar Bowl and failed as not only was the sand soft, but 3 bumps that broke the momentum badly. Only Noor was able to make it to the top. We heard One of our members was in trouble and headed to the back of Iftar Bowl which was not a pretty scene. The car had got a wall of a dune head on and after a little inspection the gear oil has leaked. With a lot of patience, coordination and some really hard work @Gaurav bhai we moved it to a flat and high ground. A pop-out also had to be fixed. Soon we realized that the car was not going to move on its own power and we could not pull it out due to the location we were in. Thanks to @shadow79 who had the idea of what was to be done. After removing the gear oil cooler we headed out locking the car. Saturday we were back and drive in within no time for Saleem to make the necessary temporary fix. Pumping oil was another challenge as there was no was but to do it from under the car. We managed it just before sunset and headed out. Just adjusting stuff by the road side and the police shower up, so the police report was made within no time. We headed to inflate our tires at the Adnoc pump and headed back home. Thanks to Gaurav bhai for some awesome sandwiches on both days and Noor for some fireside sausages, sweet potato and corn. Until next time, stay safe and thank you for being family away from family.

  5. I think the fender bender thing is relevant here in Dubai, more so than anywhere else. Other countries have proper crashes but here it’s mostly slow speed bumper to bumper stuff. You only have to take a walk up your street and you’ll see something with a broken headlight or the bumper hanging off. Not saying the big accidents don’t happen, but they’re less frequent.

  7. There are 3 used parts dealers who sells Peugeot parts, have you checked with them? https://carnity.com/search/?&q=peugeot&type=cms_records5&nodes=86&sortby=relevancy

  8. Congrats on your rig, looks clean from pics. Have Saleem went under the car to check the rusteeeez issue? Is this US / GCC?

  9. Test is only relevant at low speeds like shown any higher OEM or pattern, they are getting crumpled. Most of the safety cones from the monocoque chasis itself. So another attempt by VW to mislead customers. Havent they learnt their lesson yet! Unless ofcourse your only concern is glacial speed fender benders

  11. I have not had any major issue in finding parts, I had recently go the radiator, water pump, spark plugs, clutch, and I think the flywheel changed and there was no major issue. My car doctor is @shadow79 and he has been able to get most of the parts. My car is a GCC spec car, GCC spec car is better than US import because in US the bottom of the car is mostly rusted. Other than that, whichever origin you will have to do some work on the cooling system to improve it (if it has not already been done). To use this vehicle for both daily driving as well as offroading depends on the condition of the car. In my case I got a relatively clean car so I use it for both. But most people keep this car for weekend drives only as its quite basic to drive on a regular basis

  12. In your budget you should be able to get the Pajero 3.8 SWB. Most of the Pajero's are hardly taken off road so you might get a clean one. But try to stay away from the 2009 to 2014 models as they have a peculiar up-shifting problem in tiptronic. If you are checking Cherokee look for the Cherokee XJ (1997 to 2001) models, they are quite rugged. Dont look at the later models. Difficult to get a clean one, but you might get lucky. You will have to do some work on them to reduce the overheating issue. Further, many might agree on this forum that the older vehicles, i.e., prior to 2004 were better built for offroad use than the later versions.

  13. It's a very good question and very well put, writing a lot of people similar confusion in words. I have advised plenty of my colleague on this exact issue. To start with, I have been driving for last 15 years in Dubai and 10 years in offroad. Best advice is to keep the separate car for offroad for the endless reasons, (too long to list here). However, if as a beginner you still wish to have one ride fits all need, then you can choose any American, UK or Japanese cars (plenty choices), but when you consider 5-10 years of age used car then the only choice you have is Japanese folks per below list of order: Prado (AWESOME) Xterra (AMAZING) Pajero (3.8 - Good, 3.5 - OK, 3.0 - NO) Pathfinder - (Post 2006 shape - NOOOOOO) The only American ride after 5 years of age can still ride good in sand is Jeep Wrangler or may be cherokee (not grand cherokee). These cherokee and Grand were awesome prior to 2004 shape, but hard to get one clean now, which has not been abused already. Ford explorer - NO Ford explorer - sport trac truck - Yes (with 2 inch lift) F-150 trucks - Yes, but expensive in maintenance Overall Japanese are more reliable and maintenance friendly that's why people choose them as a first choice especially in offroad.
