  1. My first DCT and you guys made it such a memorable one! Really good atmosphere, exuded all the values of Carnity that the senior team role model...light hearted, good fun, inclusive, with the right amount of safety and seriousness on the details. Thank you to all the team who organised the drive, the event and the evening's food and entertainment! Rolling back in to something to eat and drink was extremely welcome. And finally a massive thank you to my team (in running order!) @Davie Chase @Mark B @Gary F @Benjamin...despite being the junior member you made me feel very welcome and supported, and it was great that we all had something to contribute. Still can't quite believe that we won...we drove the strategy - no more, no less...cracking work from all, and especially to Davie for setting a formidable pace at all times!

  4. if you look at the map, these "Abu dhabi" drives are actually closer to Dubai than to Abu Dhabi, as it is usually Sweihan, Al Ain farms area, Faqa etc. And these are the best areas to learn (unless you like churn and cross-tracked badayer areas that are usually packed with turists).

  8. The moment I removed my safety vest and started dancing to celebrate, we got a call on the radio for a breakdown car. Moral of the story: Dont dance too early.

  10. That is shocking to hear! A rebuild of the existing differentials will be more time consuming and costly I’m afraid. 2500AED for a pre-owned differential is quite steep, as I know there are several scrap yards that have them and literally thousands of Pajeros around. @GauravSoni and @Simon D might have some contacts with scrap yards. Let’s see if they can chime in.

  12. Beadlocks are heavy and difficult to work with if need to do in the field re-beading. The two alternatives I've found are the method beadgrip, and the icon innerlock. Both of these are lightweight and can have tyres installed without needing to be torqured precisely and needing retightening every X KMs. Icon features locking pins that are installed radially into the wheel stopping any sideways motion of the tyres, whereas the bread grip utilises ridges on the inner bead groove to help stop the bead slipping. Looks like the innerlock tech might do a better job at holding your tyre impact from the pressure testing performed by both companies. (See images below) Here is link to both manufacturers info: Method beadgrip: https://www.methodracewheels.com/pages/bead-grip?_pos=1&_sid=847b565ed&_ss=r ICON vehicle dynamics: https://www.iconvehicledynamics.com/rebound-pro Anecdotally, I found the beadgrips to be excellent when I was running them on pajero. Never had a pop out whilst using them compared to 3or4 on my stock rims. (Could also be sure to driving style changes...) Do you know of any other simulated beadlocking tech that's available out there. And any real world experience (good or bad) using these over standard rims or real beadlocks?

  13. Hi all, hope everyone is doing great! Wanted to ask your advice here. Brought my Pajero a year back to a well-known specialized garage in Sharjah for the major 200k service. Among other works, they charged me for the differential oil change. At some point I decided to change the garage, and brought the car to another one to do suspension repairs and a lift kit. They inspected the car, and found out there is no oil in both front and rear diffs. My hypothesis is that the first garage drained the oil and forgot to fill it up, as no leaks were identified during the check up. That means I've been running on dry diffs for ~5k km. Once the new oil was filled, metal debris started to get flushed between the moving parts and I can hear a loud crackling sound from the rear diff while moving at 2wd with more that 2k RPMs. Garage that identified the issue suggests to replace both differentials with a pre-owned ones, around 2.5k AED each. But I am thinking whether there are any other cost-effective repairs solutions in this case, like rebuild or bearing replacement? Did anyone have the same issue, and what was the solution? Does anyone knows good garages specialized in differential rebuild? (I know it is forbidden to recommend specific places in the forum, so will be happy to get recommendations in DM ) Thank you folks!
