  1. One does notnot drive atthe 140 or anywhere close to that speed when you can hardly see beyond yourthe bonnet Maybe you should you remove your headlights too since being able see really not needed for your superior driving skills
  2. And that is is whyfor there are 100 car pileup in the fog
  3. Oh don get me wrong they charge throught the roof and have been here for at least 30 yrs and I know people who swear by them but that's only because they don't know better. People just assume gora bhais running a shop with expensive eq and tools must be good and honest.
  4. Well to be honest I've had the total different experience. They have always been very nice and courteous and always get a super discount. Once my alternator failed on a Friday evening. And the poor chap went to his shop picked out a nice one for me and brought it back to his place which was closer to me and I went and picked it up from him at his place and it worked absolutely brilliant till the day I sold my car . Maybe I'm just a nice decent chap
  5. That's the thing an avg joe doesn't know. I think t was Gaurav who once wanted to buy a luxury SUV. So we called a well known so called specialist garage fpr that car, they said yeah they will check it for 300 DHs and what about a diagnostic scan. They said no they don't that on ore purchase inspection. So what exactly is it that you'll do. We'll drive it around amd let you know of its ok. Same place sold another guy I know a luxury 4x4. Turns out it had major frame damage and a shitty botch cove up job which I spotted just from pics. And they said it was a perfect car. Garage is run by people from your part of the world and they are still in business.. Oh and the other 500 comprehensive test is also useless, they won't guarantee their own work. You can't use their own test to register the car. So what exactly are they checking ?
  6. Hey I'm just saying I saved big $$$$ on shipping heavy parts like coil springs ans shocks from the UK because of those guys are nice to me.
  7. Try National Auto Parts two or three shops down. Even better prices and think they also started delivering to Dubai. Guys are really good and if you build a repo with them they will really go out of the way to help you. I've had then buy mods for my disco from UK and have them shipped here for free along their own shipments for 10-20dhs profit
  8. I've been here 40+ years and I haven't seen one either!
  9. When was the last time you saw a Corolla Tsport in the UAE?
  10. All you need is one or two Good parts shop and a scrappy to make your life easy. That's all I've needed to make my 15 plus year Land Rover ownership a breeze. Since you own or owned a P38 you should also know Gulfstar and National Auto also have good quality and very reasonably priced Jaguar aftermarket parts. Just need sensible ownership and stay on top of things. Invest in a little time and learn about the car. Join some popular jag forums and learn the in and outs of the car. Can't recall the amount of headache and money saved because of a good active forum.
  11. Meh, nothing in this world will convince me sitting on motor unstrapped to anything, open to the elements is ever going to be safe. And that's the thing. I can go anyways in my shorts, t-shirt wearing my flip flops in a car and expect a certain level of safety and comfort. Instead of having to place a metal can over my head, bullet proof pants and jackets. I'm going out to meet friends not stop a riot!
  12. Although I do see a trend here. Staring with the newer jeep and working your down. Very soon you'll own a willys jeep.
  13. Damn this is more serious than I thought! No amount of antibiotics will cure this

    Cv/resumes

My friend ex Nokia HR middle east and Africa does this for a living. But be warned he does charge a pretty penny. At its a process. He will first interview you etc etc etc
  15. Yeah bit you don't have to dress like a power ranger if you want to avoid getting cut up and shredded like cheese even on a gentle fall at 40kph Sorry hell with all that freedom when it comes to getting killed Our neighbor father died, an old gentle man here in shj from a slight knock from a cab on a roundabout. Friends have steel implants in all their limbs. Another college mate died when a camry swiped him. And they were the lucky ones who didn't end up paralyzed from the neck down. Another mate lost the use of his arm after a slight bash.
  16. My ancient khatara Garmin gave speed limits. So does default map app in my slightly less ancient windows 10 phone.
  17. Who told you its 100k plus. First gen models are going for 15-20k.With your budget you can pick up a pretty late model in decent nick
  18. If I were you Id either sell it or just drive it like it is until it fails and then scrap it. So now the car costs you around 10dhs and its just a month or two old. It's a jeep thing and I don't want to understand!
  19. I hate bikes with a passion. Have seen many people I know die on them.
  20. I'm biased so get yourself a LR3 or 4. One guy I know has 400,000 miles on it yes miles not kms. And the other with a V6 300k kms and still in perfect nick.
  21. Am I the only one who does not use GPS while driving. My GPS usage was limited to off road use or if I need to go to a new unfamiliar destination.
  22. But having said all this I do have to give it props for excellent fuel consumption. The OPs high fuel consumption is due to the way and circumstances it is used than the CVT itself. Cruising at 120 at seeing the rpm sitting at 1200-1500 is something else.
  23. OR one can can use that big like clock thing right in front of the drivers face to check speed
  24. Yup typical CVT even my rental 2018 Yaris felt this way at slow speeds. You let go of the gas and feels like the hand brake is on and creating drag and slowing down the car. Wouldn't roll freely like a regular transmission. Takes some getting used to. But in normal and highway driving fuel economy is out of this world. I would get above 600ks of pure highway driving on a single tank of gas which was full on 70. P.S the car was new with only 30k kms on it so cant say it was old and worn out and acting that way
