  1. It's all staged so whats the point.
  2. I think resale shouldn't be the only factor one should look at. If it were then there would be nothing in this world other than corollas.
  3. Guilty as charged. I don't like to watch that hammed up soap opera otherwise known as WWE. So it was a reference tp something that happens during that show then I truly didn't get it
  4. You don't pay millions of dollars to attach star power to a film and then not cash in on that by keeping it a secret.
  5. Sand most probably enters from the overflow pipe of the expansion bottle as they have one incase you overfill or coolant expands too much the overflow is dumped out. Hence if you notice even if you fill the bottle till the brim, after a drive or too the coolant is back to its normal level. Since you go to the desert alot and kick up a lot of sand, some probably enters through that pipe. This is just a theory, since I can't see another open to air access in an otherwise closed system.
  6. This is going to be all about how Ford developed and produced the Ford GT 40 to defeat Ferrari at Le Mans and hired a British driver to race it. It's an interesting story but don't think it's movie worthy unless of course Hollywood adds it's usual embellishments and detracts from the original story. P.S : Christian Bale's fake British accent is atrocious!
  7. Yes it is, that means its even more crap! Upon further investigation it's called the Euro raptor be cause no one else is interested in a diesel version. ROW of the wold gets a 3.5 V6 which should be much better. Remember in sand along with torque you need momentum and diesel just doesn't have it.
  8. This is due to lack of knowledge on the owners part, which kind of boggles me. For an expat their vehicle is in the top three of their most expensive assets in this country yet they don't even bother to learn one thing about about it. You'll see people do more research on a rental flat before renting it than before buying a car or anything to keep it running well after they have.
  9. Nome of this is relevant here in the UAE. If you are buying in the US then yes but not here. Dealers scam you here in many other ways but since Big B is always watching not to going to mention them here.
  10. Or just buy a slightly used proper Raptor for that money
  11. At 3000rpm. It's not a diesel! Turbocharged gas engines most of the torque lies in the upper rpm band. And 210hp also in the higher rpm bands. So with such a big heavy pickup with huge tyres you'll be pretty much struggling most of the times to hit the power band unless you get big clear run ups without any ruts
  12. Coolant in the bottle specially in a system that has a radiator cap doesnt cycle as much or as vigorously as it does in the radiator so think of it as a catch can or filter all the heavier dirt and rusts from the cooling system settles in it. Like the Range L322. It has a flawed radiator design with the lower hose 8 rows above the bottom. So all the gunk settles in those last 8 rows as watee doesnt cycle as much through the bottom rows. Unfortunately those last 8 rows are also used for ATF cooling. While the engine is sufficiently cooled but the Trans oil cooler gets cooled in turn cooking the transmission too.
  13. Take out and wash the bottle thoroughly and dump the old coolant. Also not all coolants are compatible with each other. So better flush out the old stuff and refill with fresh new coolant. Coolant should be replaced every two years anyways.
  14. First of all don't but if you must buy a sheep buy absolutely bone stock with the lowest mileage and best cared for possible. A bone stock TJ is more than capable for pretty rough terrain.
  15. Way back in the day even before I was doing Safaris. I wore cowboy boots all the time. They look pretty snazzy IMO plus it went with the rocker look I was rocking back then. Provided you don't tuck your jeans in the boots like a douche. But they are not for everyone. They do have a bit of a heel meant to lock stirrups in place between the heel ans sole when riding. So you will feel a bit odd at first. But like everything else you get used to it.
  16. Well don't do too much of that, there are people assigned to protect them from exactly such stunts and you might find yourself in unnecessary trouble or the very least a long telling off and not to be doing such shenanigans again. I don't know how they monitor them but they suddenly appear out of the blue and flag you down.
  17. That's the thing, I never laced up above the ankle tight but kept them pretty loose, hence I could slip in and out of them like full length cowboy boots. Didn't need to lace them up or use the side zips. So they were pretty loose above and didn't hinder any mobility first because they were loose and the material on the ankles was padded fabric and not leather or thick material and pretty flexible, The only time I laced them up was the one time I bought them and they lasted a good 7-8 years of daily abuse in the desert and wadis. Till the day I got rod of then I never touched the laces.
  18. Most of Markham is in the DDCR which is sad because it has some real beautiful bright red sand dunes but the sand there is many places is like talcum powder. Just stopping on a flat area can get you stuck. I had the chance to drive there several times before it was fenced off and turned into conservation reserve. Last time I was there was with a LWB Chevy Dually pickup and it got crested on totally flat hard area on a 2ft high pile of sand! Lol
  19. Ironically one of the things I hate most is sand in my shoes and these ankle length shoes just would not stop the sand getting in. After trying many pairs I still ended up with small dunes in my house after I came back from work and took my shoes off. Then I finally bought a pair of military boots from these shops that do uniforms for the police and military for 300dhs. Best 300dhs I've ever spent. literally light as a feather, sand, water and oil resistance and after a full day in the desert even in knee high sand, not a single speck of sand. They were light, never got hot and ltook about a couple of seconds to get on and off as I kept them slightly loose on the top and just slipped them on and off like cowboy boots. I don't have a pic but they look something like this but with a thinner sole and proper laceeyelets all the way to the top
  20. Well the demonization is totally politicaland nothing to do with intellectual property and China is moving towards that too. Recently JLR won a case in a Chinese courtroom against a Chinese company ripping off on of their designs and ordered it to stop its production. P.S : As if the west wasnt or isnt involved in govt backed theft too. During the space race, cold war etc etc everybody was keeping tabs and trying to rip off each other. The entire nuclear and rocket program was basically ripped off from German Scientists.
  21. Stay away from US specs unless you really know what you are doing as 99% if not all are insurance write offs and repaired cheaply to flip quickly and make a profit. Now having said that Insurance is really weird in the US as it is supposed to repair the car to it original condition clauses so many what would be considered perfectly good cars here are written off. I've seen older cars written off as hail damage with just a few tiny barely dings on the roof or hood on a otherwise perfectly running and driving cars, because labour is expensive and to get a proper professional job needs the entire roof hood and trunk repainted . So really is a gamble you could end up with something that just had a cracked bumper or something where the entire frame was repaired. And in some cases you won't even know it until after a few years the frame, fender, roof etc etc starts to rust and paint bubble because of a cheap repair job. But if you have a keen eye you can pick up a deal. But keen eye is important, many don't even know what they bought and are just happy with the lower price. I remember an Indian fella brought in Camry to my shop he had just bought. The thing didn't have a single body panel that didnt have inches of bondo i.e body filler on it. The whole car was wavy with not a straight panel anywhere to be seen. But he was very happy with it because he got it cheap. I just didn't have the heart to tell him he'd just bought a big POS. As for the lexus GS it's a good car and I know a friend which has 250,000 miles, thats miles not kme on it. Probably 300,000 miles on it now. And still looks and drives perfect. But like I said if it's fuel consumption then it's 4 cyl only for you mister and that too not every car has great mileage. I get atrocious mileage on my mrs brand new 2019 Nissan Sunny company rental compared to the earlier 2017 Yaris. That thing literally ran on fumes. 50dhs gas and almost full and week and half of from Sharjah to Business Bay daily traffic commute. This thing hardly makes it 3-4 days on 50dhs. Plus its so gutless I call it the gutless wonder. mind you same engine size of 1.5 on both.
  22. I would say get a Lexus LS 430. Very solid and reliable cars. Drivetrain is like a rock and go for half a million kms easy without ever opening it up. It has image, super comfy and luxurious. Gas mileage would be the only slight drawback but not much more than the Jero. Or a Merc S320 for slightly better gas mileage. But in my own usage Ive found very little difference in mileage between a 6 and V8 and then you always regret not getting thr V8 so go for the S500 instead plus more bells and whistles. Just avoid the fancy suspension, 4matic and ABC If fuel economy is your number one priority then it has to be a 4 banger because as I said 6 n 8 are almost identical and V8 Ive actually found V8s more economical on highway driving at or under speed limit. Hard to find a good 4 cylinder that ticks all your boxes. So you will have to compromise on one atleast.
