After seeing several carnity enthusiast's literally showing up on off-road drive with almost nothing in their car, motivate me to list these basic level of off-road gears that every car must have according to the number of drives they have attended: Shovel (not spoon) Screw driver set Deflator Tire pressure gauge Torch light Second level of must have gear required after 3-4 drives: Walkie Talkie Safety flag Tow rope and rated shackle Air compressor Floor jack and wooden board Third level of must have gear required after 10-15 drives: Offroad GPS unit, stand alone or mobile Fire extinguisher Tie-down ratchet strap for securing any broken part Full fledged tool kit with sockets, spanner and 2 size of ratchets Bungee cords, cable ties, duct tapes, glues, clamps, fuses, m-seal, araldite, loctite, etc.

I think 90% I will also come with my wife and 3 years old son, so it will be a good company.

It was one of the most easiest drive we had in a long time and accompanied with almost 2 newbie + 1 new car in the convoy made absolute sense of this drive. We started bit late as in meeting point, Diamond farewell was due as he was not joining us for the drive and just came to see everyone at the meeting point due to his busy schedule. We all wished him good luck for his next journey in Thailand and moved to the deflation point and started our drive by 12:30 AM. Vivian with his spanking new Trail blazer was the first highlight of the drive. Vivian brother has also joined us, who is an avid offroader and supported Vivian as a passenger and he turn out to be a good company at bbq session with jokes and laughter. Second highlight was the unannounced appearance of Sri's new ride - Jeep Cherokee (dedicated only for desert). Raju Bhat and his guest from PUNE was equally excited for this desert night drive. Basel last minute sign-in made me confirmed of secured sweep and gopro master, as in Sweihan he used the gopro for first time, but the footage was absolutely amazing as he must have done this at professional level. Last but not least Saleem and his secret recipe chicken was the main highlight of the whole drive. We had some minimal refusal and stucks as usual until few of the boys learned to practise the throttle. After couple of hours of drive through flat track, medium dunes and some bussy patches we finally reached the base of pink rock and the only thing left was to cross the peak. With proper coordination, patience and teamwork all the 6 cars made it to the peak and we managed to cross the Pink rock to the other side, where nice area with awesome breeze was waiting for us. For the first time Basel took over the Saleem in bbqing the chicken, and it was totally amazing and we all have passed him with certification: "Fit to be married". Saleem's chicken awesome recipe was the talk of the evening and everyone want to know how to make that delicious mouth watering chicken marination recipe. He promised to post it here on forum for everyone to share. Another genius idea came from Saleem was to do the cooking with Pink rock boulders as BBQ base was left in rahim bhai car. So we literally went to the stone age. Then Basel creativity brought us to wood age and then steel age in one sitting of BBQ - pictures will explain this bit better. Finally we had good 2-3 hours break in awesome breeze on top of Pink Rock backside and then all packed up their cars by 6:00 AM. We finally started to descend and exited on the road by 6:30 AM. Overall it was also much needed to have one relaxed drive after the adventurous one, so we all can sit back and enjoy the nature more and spend some quality time over the bbq session.

That's a nice Vette, please be specific as to what you want to check? Is that pre buying check if you are about to buy? Or is it pre renewal checks for RTA passing? Or preparing her for race track, lolololol....?

More creepy info from Dr. Google-- __________ The dual-stage driver front air bag may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front driver side air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin July 13, 2015. ___________ Never knew that Dubai, UAE is 2 light years away from US........!

I got a call from Al tayer motors 3 days back explaining and calling for the recall 15S21 on my model of Mustang for airbag inflator. Went today and dropped the car in morning and got it back by afternoon (5-6 hours job). Amazing service from Ford and Al Tayer and I just want to appreciate that. However their call center took more than 20 minutes wait to connect to the service adviser was horrible. Just google that recall right now, and it says Takata airbag inflator might rupture when involve in an accident, means until now I was driving without the airbag and that too for last 2 years as this was July 2015 recall. There was a proposal (I think from ESMA) for standardizing all workshop in class category from A-E, based on size of workshop, employees, tools and equipment, technical expertise, years of experience etc. There was a proposal also, that based on this classification they have to charge the customer accordingly. I totally agree with @aatish on below comment:

To my knowledge GPS shows an indicative speed and not accurate, as it depends and varies due to lot of minor but important factors involved. What barry is saying is correct too, but still you should rely on vehicle odometer than on GPS.

Mine has Ford leather keychain for my Mustang and Mitsubishi logo in steel for my Pajero.

Every GCC spec car should have arabic written sticker all around driver door edge and door sill. Those sticker usually carry the VIN number, gross weight, front and back axle weight, made in country kind of information. Secondly you can take the VIN number and call the agency and they can identify over the phone at least if its GCC or not. In some cases they say it's GCC but not sold by them, means it's either imported from Oman or from another emirates dealership. Third you can ask the owner to show you the owners manual, and it always comes in two - English and Arabic manual. Don't just rely on make in country, as I think (I am not very sure) Xterra initial years were made in US for GCC specs too.

I can vouch for barry's workmanship as he has done partial engine rebuilt for my Pajero too and it's still doing totally amazing.

+1, Totally agree with you Barry. Btw, I paid 250 dirhams for above irrelevant diagnose with 1 week wait. Whereas ICV costed me 650 dhs and installed in 30 minutes. I heard Dubai government is working on standardizing car workshop to filter incompetent ones from good, capable and competent workshop. I can't wait for that.
