Grand Iftar Drive - Iftar Bowl - Sharjah - 16 Apr 2022
Gaurav replied to Gaurav's topic in Off-Road Club's Offroad Drives
Please find the final plan and convoy list for tomorrow's EPIC Grand Iftar Drive. We will be having 4 convoys and the core objective of all convoys is to reach Iftar Bowl as soon as possible to secure an area where we can accommodate 50+ cars in any square or rectangle formation. Once all 4 convoys are there, then anyone (Fewbie and above) is free to play at the Iftar bowl by informing their respective trip leads. While arriving at the meeting point, look for your trip lead car and park behind his car/convoy and start deflating to 14 PSI for HT tires and 12 PSI for Off-road tires. Few important things to adhere to: Everyone in your car needs to wear a seatbelt, including kids and babies. After reaching the Iftar bowl, adhere to trip lead and support team guidance over walkie-talkie radio to park your car, precisely. While parking your car keep 1 car gap in between (not too far and not too tight) depending on how much space is available for us. After parking you can place your mats or chair and tables in front of your cars and join the setting with the neighboring car as per the below tentative plan. Bring food and drinks for yourself and a little bit extra to share, not too much. If you plan to leave your parking then make sure to leave a chair or mat in your parking spot to secure it. Be gentle (no sand splashing) and respectful (no eating and drinking in the open) to everyone around. The whole area will be too crowded and filled with cross-tracks, so if you stay in one place and use this time to interact with other off-roaders will be nice and highly recommended. Exit Planning 7:30 PM - M.Seidam (+971 55 4045278) will leave first and use channel 8 - 446.181'25 so if anyone wants to leave early, please inform him in advance, so that he can plan his convoy. 8:00 PM - Asif Hussain (+971 50 6990411) will leave second and use channel 7 - 446.156'25. Rest all 4 convoys will leave at 8:30 PM and will use the same respective channels. Srikumar will replace Asif Hussain and will lead the convoy 2 out using the same frequency assigned below. Shaaz will replace M.Seidam and will lead the convoy 3 out using the same frequency assigned below. @Frederic @topgear @fayez @Ajay Kakkar @Amit Mathu @Elsinno @Shanky Ochani @Shama Zamora @James Lovell @Sita Sharma @Beide Worku Convoy 1 - Radio Channel 6 - 446.131'25 Frederic - Green Isuzu Trooper topgear - FJ Cruiser fayez - Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Grey Ajay Kakkar - Pajero LWB Grey Amit Mathu - Nissan Patrol 4 Door White Elsinno - Ford raptor Gaurav - Pajero SWB Silver 99 Shanky Ochani - Pajero SWB Black Shama Zamora - Jeep Wrangler SWB Red James Lovell - Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Silver Sita Sharma - Jeep Wrangler SWB Yellow Beide Worku - Ford F150 Blue @Asif Hussain @Salim Akhtar @Savio Fernandes @Mohammed Yazir Thattarathil @Amr Paple @Abed M @Srikumar @pramod @Ashutosh Garg @Sunny84 @Quresh Pajero @Ahmad Shaker Convoy 2 - Radio Channel 7 - 446.156'25 Asif Hussain - White Nissan Xterra Salim Akhtar - 2017 Pajero Savio Fernandes - Nissan Patrol Y62 Mohammed Yazir Thattarathil - SWB Pajero Amr Paple - White Xterra Abed M - Red Jeep Cherokee XJ Srikumar - Green Jeep Cherokee XJ pramod - White Land Cruiser Ashutosh Garg - Silver Xterra Sunny84 - Grey Pajero Quresh Pajero - White Pajero Ahmad Shaker - Grey & White FJC @M.Seidam @Abdul Basit Khan @BHANU PRAKASH VISHWANATH @paolo dassi @Vishal Nair @Tom V @Shaaz Sha @Amr Aydin @Krishna R @Mahmoud Taha @Harshal @Danish Mohammad Convoy 3 - Radio Channel 8 - 446.181'25 M.Seidam - White Nissan Xterra with Black Star Abdul Basit Khan - Blue Xterra BHANU PRAKASH VISHWANATH - Pajero paolo dassi - Pajero Vishal Nair - Pajero Tom V - Xterra Shaaz Sha - Xterra Fauzia - Pajero Amr Aydin - Green Wrangler Krishna R - Infiniti QX56 Mahmoud Taha - White Xterra Harshal - Green Tundra Danish Mohammad - White SWB Pajero @Hisham Masaad @Mohamad Anwer @Felix Obst @AlexM @Thomas Varghese @ASAD. @imranaasghar81 @Rizwanm2 Convoy 4 - Radio Channel 9 - 446.206'25 Hisham Masaad - Black FJ Cruiser Mohamad Anwer - Beige LC70 Felix Obst - White Wrangler AlexM - Green Rubicon Thomas Varghese - White Xterra ASAD. - White Prado imranaasghar81 - White FJC Rizwanm2 - White Xterra- 44 replies

Yes absolutely, @M.Seidam will be leaving early after Iftar, so the first batch of cars can follow him to the tarmac. I wouldn't recommend anyone leaving by themselves at night. We will plan several exit options at different timing and assign the radio channel so that everyone can coordinate whenever they wish to leave. -

@fayez @Ajay Kakkar and @Amit Mathu welcome to carnity, being a first time with carnity, please remember to carry your own deflator, tire pressure gauge, and compressor to inflate after the drive, which is a must for everyone. Please share your off-road driving experience if you have so that I can plan your convoy position accordingly. Also note, that this Grand Iftar Drive is an exceptional drive (more of a get-together) which means you still need to join next week's Absolute Newbie drive to get the full orientation for off-roading and driving in the sand. After completing the absolute newbie drive you can join any newbie drive thereafter. -

That's indeed very conservatively boosted to less than half a bar unlike hooligans here touch 2-3 bars and shorten the engine's usable life to max 1-2 years. Good decision. Now the next big challenge for you and your tuner is to use the perfectly tuned maps for off-road use to make this beast a real climber than a dragster. Faya climb in Sharjah or Y60 hill in Quaa will be your best friend for the next few drives. I would love to see this LC100 climbing Faya from the right side (most difficult). My limited experience with Cayenne Turbo (450 hp) in dunes wasn't great as the turbo kicks in at the wrong times in spite of having a twin-turbo that supposes to fill the turbo lag. Second, with the Range Rover supercharged (510 hp) experienced the same results as those cars were tuned for road and not for off-road use and I didn't intend to tinker with the tuning for my daily driver. Good luck and lots of prayer for stock internals and other ancillary parts.

Congrats buddy, sounds sweet. That's a very big gain from 235 to 400, what other magic you did under the hood? How much boost? Engine internal or any other parts upgrade to withstand 400?

Welcome to Grand Iftar Drive - It's once in a year opportunity for all off-roaders in UAE to meet and sit in one place to enjoy Grand Iftar together. It's being held in coordination with most off-road clubs and approx. 400-500 off-road cars show up every year at Iftar bowl near Tawi Rifadah in the Bidayar area. Iftar bowl, got its name because long ago (till 2008) all off-roaders use to park inside the iftar bowl and break their fast, but with today's growing numbers everyone parks outside the bowl, but in a closer vicinity. Whether you are fasting or not, it's a must-drive to attend to watch the union of off-roaders and witness the love and respect that everyone shares in this small world of off-roading in UAE. Please feel free to join us with your friends and family with your Iftari & a little extra to share with others. Please do not litter as kills beautiful wildlife, so please carry enough garbage liners to pack the trash.
