A little early would be better. If you are late, you would be left behind. 2) The senior members on the drive are me and @Chaitanya D 3) Please spend 15 minutes of undivided attention to go through the Absolute Newbie briefing Video. This is absolutely necessary for the safety of you and your vehicle before your first offroad adventure. 4) For those who have radios, you can program them to the Carnity Frequency using the guidelines provided in the below post. If you dont have a radio, we shall provide you with a spare radio during the drive. We will be using Carnity Channel 3 tomorrow. (446.05625 Mhz). The instructions to program the radio are provided in the below post 5) All traction controls, ABS and Air bags need to be switched off. If it requires pulling the fuse, please do the needful. Incase of any queries you can always ask the senior members before the drive or better still, post your queries on this drive post and we would assist. 6) Please bring a pressure gauge and deflator as a minimum. If you dont have a deflator you could use your key or a screw driver. Deflate to 15 psi. Incase if you have any difficulties you can approach the senior members before the drive who would assist you. 7) Feel free to ask questions at any time. 😎 Convoy Numbering will be posted after 7 pm today evening. We shall be starting the drive from close to Hamari Well, and enter the desert through some nice easy tracks and dunes so that you can get familiar with your vehicle. As the convoy's confidence increases I shall be gradually increasing the level of the drive always keeping in mind everyone's comfort level. We will be driving for about 3 hours practicing driving in sand, proper steering control, crossing some dunes, and getting you and your vehicle accustomed to off-roading in general. By 10:00 am we will be heading out towards the Qudra parking, where you can inflate the tyres with your compressor or at the Last Exit gas station. We shall have a debriefing session to get your feedback about your experience.

  8. Congrats @Tbone well done. Look forward to being on one of your drives very soon.
  9. By Hot Oil, I am presuming you mean the transmission fluid. When was the last time you changed it? Does it have a burnt smell, if so then change it and try driving it over this weekend. If the oil has been recently changed, have you tried driving it on tiptronic. Does it still cause the overheating? I am not sure if your version of Wrangler came in with a separate transmission cooler. But if none of the above is a solution you might have to install as large a fan as possible in front of the tranny cooler. I believe a 12 inch Spal fan would cost you approx AED 250. @Gaurav had recently bought one. And probably as a last resort have a dedicated transmission cooler.
  10. It's actually open. There is a diversion there at junction of E611 and E75. But mind that the speed limit on E75 is 100 kmph.
  11. If you are referring to the main seal between the engine and the gear box then yes the labor charges would definitely be more higher than the original seal from Mitsubishi. But from what I faintly recollect it should not be more than aed 300 - 400 and it's not more than a 3-4 hours job.
  12. You don't need appointment at those hours to the DPI. I have done DPI tests multiple times at the early hours of the morning in both weekdays and weekends, they don't ask for appointment.

  15. TRIP REPORT Sweihan is clearly one of my favorite places in UAE, and in an area which has traditionally been reserved for Intermediate drives, we at Carnity have found some amazing stretches with absolutely virgin dunes to arrange a Newbie drive week after week. Everyone was there at sharp 6:00 AM, and with a couple of drop outs and no shows we were 5 cars which made for a short but tight convoy. It gave me the room to push the pace through some big dunes knowing very well that the cars at the back would not have to deal with churned up tracks. The broad spaced rolling dunes offered a lot of high paced action and adrenaline with speeds in some of the dunes reaching close to 60 kmph. The entire convoy did extremely well, and the drive was so supremely smooth that we didn't have to even take out the shovel let alone the rope. Though I am not a person for statistics but at the end of the drive I was curious, and we had done close to 51 km of 100% dunes and an additional 30 kms of flat track to get to the ADNOC gas station. Probably the smoothest Newbie drive that I have been a part of in a very long time and the entire credit goes to the excellent convoy of @Srijith Gangadharan @Jonathan Maumy @Aamir Siddiqui . Also thank you to @Pancho for supporting the drive, even though you had almost no work throughout the drive (courtesy the excellent Newbies that we had), knowing you are at the back of the convoy gives the Lead the liberty to push the pace. Hope you guys had fun, for I most certainly did. See you soon on the sands.
  16. If you use the stem removal tool, you would deflate all 4 tyres in less than 4 minutes. The link that you have posted needs to be properly calibrated and from what I have heard that after a couple of times of usage, people stopped using it.
  17. DRIVE RSVP IS CLOSED Convoy Numbering 1. Srikumar 2. Srijith 3. Joanthan 4. Ismaeel Jabaar 5. Pancho 6. Aamir Siddiqui 7. Jack Thomas 8. Mustafa We shall be using Carnity Channel 4. See you at the meeting point at 6:00 AM.
  18. No. Having said that you are not permitted to use them on the road. And during the annual passing you will have to cover them with a rexin cover or a black tape. Alternatively you can just remove them and get the car passed.
  19. You can try the Toby shop in Deira near Naif market. The prices are a bit cheaper and when Toby Dragon Mart didn't have it in stock I could find it in Deira. The only issue is no parking.
  20. I would suggest to add one at a time and see how it performs. Start with the spot powerful LED bar near the headlights, then depending on how your visibility is in the night you can add more. First check where is the place to install this LED light bar. Then measure the width and buy the LED light bar. Toby's is a very good Chinese brand and they have a shop in Dragon mart. Both my LED light bars are from Toby and they are quite competitively priced compared to other bigger brands (which are also assembled in China).
  21. I use both the roof top LED bar as well as the one near the headlights, and both serve two different purpose. 1. The LED bar at the top is curved which is more of a spread light which helps see a bit on the left and right of the car especially when you are crisscrossing a dune, however the straight line visibility is limited. 2. The one in front of the headlight is a powerful spot LED bar which gives good straight visibility. If I had to choose one between the two, I would choose the spot LED bar any day because of the light intensity and the clear visibility of the track in front of you. I would recommend installing it near the headlights or just below as that is the best place to install without any reflections and you can direct the light in the right angle. Now, if you are installing near the front headlights, depending on the space availability you should look to install the most powerful spot LED light bar. Mine is a 32 inch spot LED light bar of 480W and my night vision has improved so significantly that I am no longer called a Day time Marshal (the old timers in the club would know what I mean) 😁. You can put smaller LED light bar beam as per the below image on the two sides (near your windscreen) that would give you a peripheral vision. This would be my recommended setup.
  22. Hi Srijith, if there is a spot available you can directly sign up. See you this Thursday
  23. Congratulations Islam. Well done. When I first met you on the Absolute Newbie drive I was afraid that you would break your bumper with the low air damp. Also, you are probably the only one in the club driving a Yukon which is a real monster of a car. However to your credit you have managed the Yukon so extremely well, that you take that beast to all the possible terrains across the UAE. Well done buddy and the good game of offroading is just beginning. Hope you enjoy it.
