Qua and Al Wagan Desert Drive - 15 Feb 2019
Srikumar replied to Gaurav's topic in Off-Road Club's Offroad Drives
I am in for Option 1, prefer to camp there the previous night. If everyone is camping then maybe we can do it near the bowl. Else might prefer to camp close to the petrol station. Anyone else in for the camping?- 19 replies

After this drive we shall rename it the Carnity bowl as I guess we will all need the winch and tow ropes to pull us out 😁- 19 replies

I had this issue as well when I brought a brand new Pajero in 2010. It only got worse with time and I also got used to it with time.

Newbie drive Maliha/Kalba - 8 Feb 2019
Srikumar replied to Rahimdad's topic in Off-Road Club's Offroad Drives
@Djamelus it looks good. See you on Friday -
Yes...you will see a circle dot illuminate on the 4x4 indication near the speedometer. It happens only on 4LLc and when you select the rear difflock. I tried but failed and in complete frustration I bought the XJ and to be doubly sure that there will be no upshifting I went for a manual. 😁
-
@Barry, I think while offroading a proper locker would be better than a LSD at anytime. Correct me if I am wrong
-
and with a SWB if possible...also try to stay away from the 2009 - 2013 models. These models had an unusual problem of automatic upshifting on tiptronic from 1st to 2nd gear I have heard that post 2014 or 2015 this issue was resolved.
-
as I know all the 3.8 version would have a rear diffloc. The switch for the same would be located below the aircon controls.
-
All the Pajero's have a central diffloc (4HLc mode) as default. Its only in the top end version 3.8 litre that you have a rear diffloc as an additional locker.

Newbie+ Drive from Lisalli to Qudra - 1 Feb 2019
Srikumar replied to Srikumar's topic in Off-Road Club's Offroad Drives
@BilalAhmad and @hossein, since both of you are in agreement on whose mistake it is, the best option is to use the Dubai police app and register a formal report so that this dent is fixed by the insurance company- 66 replies

@shadow79 let me rephrase the question. There are lot of companies in UAE that provide a tracker system for a cost of approx AED 600 - 900 per annum. And also this limited to vehicles that are registered on company names only. They don't install for personal vehicles. So was searching online if there is some other unit in which I can insert a Sim card, and track the car location and would also provide me with a history. @Gaurav, how do you manage to install this on phones that belong to an individual and not the company. Also, by turning off 4g can the tracking stop. @WiLfY, interesting option to try out
-
Hi, Does anyone have any experience of installing GPS Trackers for their cars from purchase done on online stores. Any recommendations? I am aware of the companies that install the tracking but they do it only for commercial vehicles. I need to install trackers on private vehicles. Thanks

Newbie+ Drive from Lisalli to Qudra - 1 Feb 2019
Srikumar replied to Srikumar's topic in Off-Road Club's Offroad Drives
Thank you to everyone for an amazing drive. One of the biggest convoys we had so far, and the drive we did was way beyond a Newbie+ level. Would like to thank @Atif for a splendid second lead as he kept the entire route in check when at times I was pushing the limit. And of course a very big thank you to @EmVarlet, @Gaurav and @Rahimdad. You guys were the real backbone of the entire drive as you kept modifying the route ever so slightly to keep the entire convoy moving at a pretty decent pace. Also guess the new method of assigning the convoy numbers did actually work. Hope everyone had a good time, for I most certainly had a blast. The dinner at qudra along with the birthday celebration was the perfect end to a wonderful day.- 66 replies

Complete tint on windshield is not allowed. From the top I think it's only 6" which is permissible. You mentioned that the cars with the complete tint belonged to big shots, and that's the reason. Frankly, it's a driving hazard to have your windshield completely tinted.

Newbie+ Drive from Lisalli to Qudra - 1 Feb 2019
Srikumar replied to Srikumar's topic in Off-Road Club's Offroad Drives
Hi Ben, welcome back. Yes of course we remember you. However, the area that we would be doing would need an experience of 3-4 drives as there would be side slopping and ridge crossing. I recommend that you join for the next week Newbie Drive to Fossil Rock as even though it's an area you have done once before, you would realise that the terrain and the route are the never the same. I have personally done the Fossil Rock more than 20 times and Everytime it through up a new challenge.- 66 replies

Newbie+ Drive from Lisalli to Qudra - 1 Feb 2019
Srikumar replied to Srikumar's topic in Off-Road Club's Offroad Drives
Hi Guys, based on the response on the drive thread, the level of the drive would be lowered to Newbie+ level. This is not a drive for absolute Newbies as it will be important to read the sand and maintain the right throttle response in certain areas. So @BilalAhmad, @ace1988, @G.huz the field is open for you to join the drive. Please RSVP the calendar event.- 66 replies
