  2. Hi All , I wish I was able to come, this ride would have some serious lesson learnt . Just a small question did the air bags deploy or it dint deploy due to not wearing seat belt or did the vehicle was modified to have a switch to disable the air bags . Just a follow up question is having a diable switch for airbags required for offroading ? I have seen in many forums they even suggest to have a switchable ABS for offroading ....pro's and Con's please ! I fully support to be hoonest cause this is a very valuabale lesson for of us . Kudos to the team to have disclosed this ! Respect !!! Drive /Ride safe Slick 72 P.S : Can we have some more Emoticon in the panel !

  11. Hi all, What is the time scale for changing the transmission fluid ( will it cover the transfer case i.e are they connected ? or is it a stand alone unit ?) and Dif oil for Nissan Xterra , Just did my 80 k kms service . Drive /Ride safe ! Slick72
  12. Hi All, All Jap vehicle have to follow 10 k kms oil change as per this news http://www.drivearabia.com/news/2015/09/19/uae-car-service-intervals-made-every-10000-km-by-law/ but Nissan says that vehicles purchased after Dec 2015 are eligible for such oil change ..... is there a change in the material used in engine manufacturing or the oil is of different quality ? if its different quality then I should also be using them ( Logic!!!) the OE oil is Synthetic can I have the interval extended to 10 k kms? Rahimdad : As you said its better to appriciate if experience good service ! Drive / Ride safe ! Slick72
  13. Hi All, I had a Lumina SS with crazy coolant leak (from Radiator , hose and what not !!!) this happened on a late Thursday evening .... I called Ali of Location Garage as it was close to where I was at that time . He gave me numbers of Barry , Gullu { the resident Mech ...;)} advised me contact them Barry sent me the location ... diagnosis ...cant drive no easy fix ... Gullu advised me to leave the car and he offered to have me dropped as I was required to be at Dubai Islamic Bank Barsha mall ( to have the documents signed for car loan for the present Xterra ) The next day Barry informed that the damage was Extensive ( new water pump couple of water hoses ) and was planning to sell the cars anyways asked if I could leave it for a couple of days till I have it carted away to the salvage yard and they accepted ....Bill AED 00.00 , had a loaner from my friend Mitsu Nativa with AC not working which and issue with improper pully clearance and gas sorted out and frosty AC ....bill AED 70.00 .... after a lot of running around got Xterra ... first service at 80 K KMS .... Bill AED 40.00 ( Oil and filter OE Nissan AED175.00 ) What really impressed me was they even geased the door hinges ( I never expected and they were bone dry ) Barry did a free idle relearn .... as my previous post about RPM was still in Barry's memory. Thank you Gullu , Barry ! Drive / Drive safe ! Slick72
  14. Hi All, Grix when I said drove 350 kms on highway with minimal traffic and the rest was from work to home and back( Discovery GArdens to Al Makthoum Airport ).The tank was filled with 75.45 liters , 575 was the distance run. The previous owner used to get 500-535 for the same amount of fuel ...... There seems to be a small error in the speedometer 139 KMPH is indicated close to 150 KMPH on the speedometer cross checked using an app "GPS Speedo " . I have the stock tyres ... with regards to the milage with the present speedo error there could be some error in the odometer as well. Say aboout 3.5% to 5% increase in milage thats not bad either ....... Drive / Ride safe ! Slick72
  15. Hi All, Just an update ,, the present gas milage per tank full is close to 575 kms ( up from last tank fill had close to 350 kms on highways in the evening with close to no traffic !) ... I drive close to the legal speed limits .... the speedo is horrible and its not 1:1 had to use GPS to check speed ... and avoid going into Karama/ Bur Dubai ..... and the increase is about 37 to 40 km per tank .... may be it will pay back in another 5 more tank fulls then .... pure profit ! On a side note whats your call on tow hitch mounted spare tyre carrier for Xterra .... kinda like the butch look of rear door mounted spare tyres . What will be the cost of OE navigation package .... oe can you retrofit Pathfinders display unit it has individual TPI and distance to empty readings ...... Drive / Ride safe ! Slick72
  16. Hello All, Have you forgotten Standard 2000 Taqir ?? it was epitome of luxury...... those were the day when we have to seam weld a whole car again once you buy it from the dealers ( we had to do it for the Fiat be got in mid 80's )
  17. Hi All, Many thanks Barry ...... your the best ! Nutbolt I am a creature of habit and I tried on the regular route and regular driving habit . I am sure there will be certainly some milage gain ( I have used on Altima , Lumina SS and couple of Indian cars like Maruti 800 , Contessa {both petrol and diesel} , Nissan P60 and Indica Xeta ) now to achieve better milage have removed the owners manual from the truck ; ) Now the latest is to get a lift kit ...... working on skid plates ...... my wife is going crazy because am glued to forums........ Drive safe / Ride safe ! Slick72
  18. Hi All , Good evening ! I would request all Xterra user who have not modified their air intake ( stock air filter !) and stock configuration with regards to tyres , suspension and no additional fittments ( like skid plates , bull bars etc)to give give me their tank to tank milage and what is the engine RPM at 60,80,100,120,140 kmph as noticed on the odo meter or RPM reading and corrosponding speed as per the odometer . I need this to check and see if there is any change in engine RPM and or change in milage after fitting a drop in airfilter (K&N stock replacemnt filter) . Presently the changes I have noticed are : Smother engine Apparent lower RPM ( when compared to the stock filter ) Close to 35 kms gain per tank full of fuel ( again just 2 tank fulls ) Many thanks in advance ! Drive /Ride safe ! Slick72 P.S : Just got myself a used Xterra 2012 with 78k kms just 10 days ago !
  19. Thanks Saleem, Gautham and Barry ! Ride/ Drive safe , Slick72
  20. Hi All, Seems like I have been swayed away from Pajero and might be getting myself an Xterra many reasons one being that the dealer was not very prompt in releasing the quotation and the Xterra is a private vehicle looks and drives ok .....hope its not a lemon ! Ride / Drive safe ! Slick72
  21. Hi Barry , Always wanted to know how a Dry Sump System work ..... if its dry then why oil change ...... I know that's stupid to ask but you know the stupidest question is the one you don't ask ! can you please explain about DSS and while on it can you give the pros and of a cons simple lift using longer shackles and strut spacers to achieve lift ?? Many thanks in advance ! Ride /Drive safe ! Slick72
  22. Hi All, Greetings ! I will be shortly be a proud owner of 2013 Paj LWB 3.5 full option from Al Habtoor ( was a Demo / Management vehicle ) the main purpose is to get a SUV for the following reasons : 1) Big enough to ferry the family and relatives around 2)SUV have a kind of road presence 3)May be go to the desert for camping 4) more importantly many overland trips either to Oman or Qatar Having said that was wondering should I continue with this route of buying Pajero ( Toyota /Nissan Seems to be on the expensive side , Toyota dealers have a bad reputation for service again hear say !) I haven’t planned any crazy modification as of now ( but on the sly thinking of getting a cheap lift using either metal or fiber spring spacer ) . Is there anything special I would have to be used to or expect from a SUV been using Sedans for the past 14 years and briefly was using Nissan Patrol ( back home EX military JONGA ) This particular one has tyre dated 2015 Sep and the thread seem to be as good as new . Should I continue with Al HAbtoor for service or check with DYNA trade or independent workshop Please advise ! Ride and Drive safe ! Slick 72
