Congrats @Frederic. You are a gem of a person and so down to earth and helpful. What goes around comes around and we found a very good friend in you. You have a very good sense of humour, positive energy, and a level head. Being a DJ I guess you keep searching for that rhythm, you add to the melody of the Carnity club.

I'm blessed. Shifting did the trick. It used to take me minimum 75 minutes to reach work after paying all Salik, from my new place it takes me 35 minutes with all the school buses on the roll.

Near my house it is very dangerous as there are no stops and buses have to stop in the last lane. For one it is blocking the whole traffic and secondly it is dangerous for kids to be boarding a bus which is stopped in moving lane. I felt there is a need for special bus lanes like in Europe where normal traffic is not affected and at the same time it is safe for the buses to stop and pick up or drop off passengers. However not hopeful about Sharjah as all the building are so close to the road that there is no more space to increase the lanes, let alone have a special bus lane.

@Jas Gajaria, hahahahaha. Same here pal. My Pathy sucks on road, it takes time to accelerate on highways and if you push the pedal the fuel just evaporates. I learned to live with it and reach where ever I need to be a few seconds late. Honestly i am not a big fan of modification and from what I have seen it messes you up more and requires more maintenance than a stock vehicle.

@Jas Gajaria its not the simple to gain 30-40 hp and in UAE mods are also something that can cause problem during passing, so be very careful at what you are planning and discuss here before you invest in anything. Secondly, it is not about the 30-40 extra hp, its about how the car delivers it to you and your advantage. Thirdly, always try and work on your skills with a lower end car than trying to mod it and make it more powerful. I see you have signed up for the drive tomorrow morning, hoping to see you and catching up more on this topic to try and understand why you need the extra hp.

In modern cars you could run higher octane which would increase power and fuel mileage, depending on choice of octane you go with. In older cars there’s no power to be gained on higher octane as they were designed to run with 85 or 87 or 90 Octane so getting 91 (eplus) or 95 (special) is plenty.

I totally agree with @Frederic, the swap is an expensive affair, unsafe and RTA will never pass it, you'd be better off buying an old Tahoe or Silverado and making necessary mods on that to suit your purpose.

I second @Gaurav bhai opinion. @desertdude I've followed you from the time I started offloading. I followed your choice of vehicle, your style of driving and the routes you have taken. I don't doubt your off-road skills and could still learn a lot from you, however the newer generation of everything comes more apt and safe for the roads. With all the computers kicking in with so much data which modern vehicles read and send signals to the car @100 pieces of information every second mostly the car decides what it's gotta do rather than driver skills. Moreover these pieces of data can mean disaster offloading at times as these rules should not apply offroad. For instance while side slopping we all know that you should continue acceleration through the whole dune without applying brakes as incidents happen when you break your momentum. In most modern cars including the Y62 the engine kills the power as it thinks you're gonna flip. This in tirn puts you more in danger. Another instance can be while criss crossing the car thinks it's over turned and engages side airbags which is again not the best solution for off roading. With our recent experiences there are many more incidents which make us think the modern 4x4s like Y62 are not meant for off road.

Wow. Not really into fast. Maybe wjen I was 20 something years old when I used to do some really crazy stuff, but in a horrific accident that could have meant death for me and my friends with me at the wheels. Not my fault but it wouldn't have mattered, my mom told me something that stuck with me and I'd rather be safe than sorry.
