Ohh, common buddy, we aren't driving in dark AT ALL (as explained above).
Hehe I go to work everyday at 5:30 I know how blind I am 😂

Imagine driving intercountry or interstate in a electric car😂😂 till the infrastructures ready to support such cars I ain't even looking at those ad's

Oooh this is sooo tempting but I am blind as a bat 😂😂that's why I avoid driving in dark 😅

Take the mezyad border early in the morning by 5 from Al Ain and then just keep going straight I took the more scenic route through nizwa and stopped there and bought an Omani sim for 2 riyal to avoid roaming charges ...you get 1.5 Gb of free internet data that you can use for navigation and valuable credit to make local calls
my numbers 0501639797 currently only on whatsapp cuz I am still here in salalah tomorrow is my last day here. Take the stops and don't try to rush the drive make sure you fill your petrol to max after Ibri if you reach half tank since petrol stations are pretty far out after that...
kids tend to get bored on long drives...entertainment is a key if you don't have an in car entertainment system bring those tablets...and try to tuck them in for most of the journey...
most of all try to avoid crazy overtakers and over take only when the other track is completely empty.
Good Luck 👍🏻

was in salalah for two days to finish of sightseeing inside the city then moved to mirbat the drive is honestly not that long 30 mins tops but there is no street lamps and diversions make it hard to drive in the night so best is to do the drive before sunset.. the resort itself is wonderful beautiful location...friendly staff they got a hot tub next to the swimming pool😉 All fun we even saw few dolphins on the beach😅

Thanks Mohd, for prompt help. Have you tried Motion X on iPhone works in Salalah....?
Nope haven't tried that I have navigation in my car which helped a bit still doesn't have all the places listed so it's best to mark coordinates on a gps device and then drive

Weathers getting a bit warmer here .. but I'll list the places on day basis..and the ones that you can do together
Ain Garziz, Ittin plains/oasis, Nabi Ayoub Tomb
Al Mughasail beach, maneer caves and blowhole. Al Fazeyan Beach ( requires 4x4 )
Wadi Darbat, Ayn Athum, Anti gravity point.
Taqa castle, Taqa cliff and beach and there's a wadi there too.
wadi saihalnoot Ain Razat Salalah Gardens Mall
Dahraiz beach and its coconut stalls and Al Husn Souq , Sultan Qaboos mosque.(for shopping)
caution google maps turn by turn navigation doesn't work in Oman so having another device or map would help!!

Hi guys,
I just read this blog now and I am very much interested to start my road trip to Salalah from Dubai on the 30th August. If anyone still interested can call or whatsapp me on 050-5759918 to pre-plan this trip together.
Regards,
Abbas
Just make sure your cars in pristine condition the mountains here tend to take a toll on the cars and I have seen a few cars heated up along the way ...

No sid what I would advise you is start early in the morning by 3 ..reach the border by 5 there are no street lamps on most of the way so your better off doing it during the day... drives a bit boring but helps if you got good company and lots of tunes / movies

Where do I start. A few people got a bit late for the meet up, and were not well prepared, so we started almost an hour late, with a late meet up of 4:30 and the sun to set at 7 pm we were pressed for time. We headed to the deflation point and after a quick deflation and a driver briefing we headed in to realize one of the vehicles was not properly deflated. After a quick remedy we again started and spotted a few Gazelles right at the start. Had a feeling that it was going to be a fantastic day.
After about 10 minutes in to the desert we had a pop-out, after fixing the pop-out we realized that another vehicle had low pressure on one of the tires, so we tried inflating it, but less then 2 minutes and the radio once again echoed that the same tire was running low pressure again. After a little inspection we determined that the valve must be faulty or leaking air due to sand caught in the valve. So we changed the valve, inflated it again and after a few minutes the same issue. At this time we tried to change the tire but did not have the tools to do the same, so we inflated it to about 38 PSI and headed out through the track. As we came out to the road we checked again and it was 36 PSI, the conclusion now was that there was some sand stuck in between the rim and the tire which was deflating when the pressure was brought down.
After a quick conference we decided to inflate and head to the Qudra Lakes by road. We came to a good spot, the Qudra Lakes seemed fairly enpty. Quickly we got the fire going and the chicken was up for the BBQ from my side and from Saleem. Thanks to Basel who helped with the BBQ and did a very nice job. After enjoying some soft drinks with the BBQ chicken we sat around and chatted till very early the next morning. Being inflated we just had to drive out and back to our homes. In short a very short desert drive, but well compensated by some delicious BBQ and relaxing chat.
Thank you to all participants, I really had fun.
seems like you guys had a blast irrespective of the minor setback...i will be joining on the next one for sure....as i had given my car on that day for inspection for the salalah trip

Many car accessories shop and Ace hardware sells a can of spray-on rubber protectant, that you can just spray on car nose, quarter of bonnet and side view mirrors. Once you are done, just peel off that rubbery film by hand.
Sorry I don't remember the exact name, but if you describe this to any half way decent car accessory shop, they will know it.
Thanks I will go to musaffah and see if I can find that spray

hey I have the same car but a newer model the 320 hp tends to eat petrol during rush hours.. but it's a dream to drive on the highways I am in Abu Dhabi not much traffic here ..I get like 600 to 650 on a full tank..but when I travel to Sharjah barely get 500😓
P.s. It does help If you keep the rpm below 2 😅
